Everything Else / Re: Need a good dvd editing program
« on: February 16, 2008, 12:21:07 pm »
No, I don't think it's a copyright violation at all. Legally, I am allowed to make backup copies of any DVD/game I own, so why not be allowed to skip a scene. If this is the case, then TV edits must be a real hassle to work out with the creator.

Personally, I think my parents are a little crazy. They have a list of movies they want scenes removed from. The first one on their list is Young Frankenstein; They apparently hate the sexual innuendo but love most of the humor. I will look at some of the programs you guys listed, but I will most likely teach them how to use the fast-forward and skip buttons.

Thanks for the help. I'll see if Adobe Premier will work for that.

Everything Else / Need a good dvd editing program
« on: February 05, 2008, 10:00:15 am »
Hey all, my parents recently bought a new movie, and they want me to edit the movie by removing a few scenes they don't like. I've been playing with some trialware programs today and haven't found any I like. It would be nice to find a program that I could just edit the .vob files from the ripped VIDEO_TS folder instead of converting the video to mpeg and back again.

Any thoughts?

If they make a Wolverine movie, it sure as hell better have Omega Red and Gambit in it.

Oh, and because of all the out there stuff that happened in the movie, I thought Bishop was going to show up after the credits...at least I hoped he would. I also suspected that the man in the bed might have been Apocolypse. Don't lecture me about what he looks like or where he came from, I know. I just thought they would some how make up a story line for him.

I liked the movie, I thought it was good for having a brand new director. I thuroughly enjoyed it despite being a fan of the comics and 90's cartoon. It is a good interpretation, and makes for some mean fight scenes. I will definately buy it.

Wow, that was a fantastic movie. I mean, yeah I've played the games, but I'm no fanboy.

Altogether I would say as a stand-alone horror, it was great. As others have said, with a the extra 30 or more minutes from an uncut edition would help, but I think it has a great story as is. It helps if you've played the games, but it is not a pre-requisite at all. My non-gaming friends got it just fine, and were of course very intrigued.

Whew, good ending too.

Everything Else / Re: When did you start playing Computer Games
« on: May 13, 2006, 03:55:35 pm »
When I was 8 my uncle gave me a PC with Windows 3.1, a CD-caddy drive, and Doom and Doom 2 (entered through DOS)...oh, and not to mention these sweet speakers with a "Turbo Button" which was essentially a semi-bass boost.

I will never forget the look on my hardcore-Christian Mom's face when my uncle gave me the computer and told me to "hit that turbo button while playing Doom for some bitchin' sound".

Ahh...those were the days. Wow now that I think about it, most people here are too young (and/or spoiled) to know what a CD-caddy is. Make sure and Google it if you don't know...it was a sad day.

argh!! you all are just tempting me.. I'm still playing this game and I'm afraid I'm going to read the spoilers....

*slowly backs out of the thread with my eyes covered*

Don't give in! The story is fantastic, especially without spoilers. No peeking!

Also can someone upload the pages of that guide that you get in the collecters edition.

Just Google it, I'm almost certain someone has uploaded it. Someone took the time to make a really hi-res scan of the strategy guide (somewhere in the 400-600mb area, I just have it on a CD). I'm sure it's out there somewhere...unless none of the people who bought the Collector's Edition want anyone else to have it.

Books / Re: The Future of Harry Potter

she doesn't intend to write any more books set in the Harry Potter world after the fifth book

Fifth huh? Wow, wierd how she's already written 6...and the 7th is on the way. She's not only richer then the Queen of England (she might be after the last movie and book), but also has the ability to travel through time.

I didn't look too hard but here's how much she was worth last year: 500,000,000 or $920,331,650.40. I don't believe that includes her latest book or movie release.

Anyone who saw Episode III should watch the Clone Wars cartoons just to see that General Grevious isn't some crappy cyborg, but one who killed off a large portion of the council himself.

I own both DVDs and love them so much. I believe they are made by the same guy as Samurai Jack (which I also own). Together they are about the same length as another prequal, but it is a far better movie then Episode II. If only they had Boba in it...but he may be on the TV show...

Sorry about the double posting, but it has come to my attention that there is a new cllip from the movie that was just released.

This clip does contain slight spoilers for anyone who is weary of such things.

SPOILER: This clip contains Wolverine being thrown by Collosus up onto a Sentinal. All I gotta say is: Hells Yeah!

Random note: The original soundtrack by Nobou Uematsu is f'in amazing, as his work usually is.

But overall the movie was good, but not great. The fanboy in me disagrees, but honestly they could've made it longer and have a bit more plot. It seemed to short and is very difficult for non-ff gamers to follow. There should be some kind of brief summary to FF7 for all those who don't know the story already.

Wing is definately one of the best, but 08th MS Team beats Gundam Wing for the top spot.

G-Gundam had potential to be cool with the piloting technology and the arena fights...but went south real fast with all the magic on the show (swords appearing as summoned, egyptian mummy gundam repairing himself magiclly, etc.).

But you have to love old school Gundam too...

Gotta catch em' all!

Edit: Oh, and Deathscythe will own all y'all!
