I guess for a mobile filter feeder the game could provide 'clouds' of food that you have to find and eat, like filter feeders do in the real world. I'm still opposed to stationary creatures. Anything slower than a slug is out

I dont see why the game couldnt have the option of procedurally generated latinised names depending on the parts/size/skin/etc you determine for it. so the game would come up withá 'catchy' 'scientific' names for the creature you make in bad latin

The willosaurus could be: viridi-triocula-tricrus cauda-manusidae (green three-eyed three-legged tail-hand)

(not bad for 5 minutes work with a highly abridged latin dictionary) :)

I dont think you could start on a desert planet, The first stage of life require water, in the real universe as in the game
(well i guess you could start as some kind of airborn gassy creature, but that sounds a lot more like expansion material than a core feature)

Can you imagine how BORING it would be to make this thing and then just watch it for hours, filtering enough food from the surroundings to reach the next stage of evolution? The same goes for all the other ideas about filter feeding, photosynthesis etc.
I'm sure you could make a very slow very simple grazing animals with a spongey texture, but filter feeding would just turn the game into a pretty inferior screensaver. :P

There are definitly asteroids and it may be possible to colonise the big ones, I think resource gathering is likely to take place via your settlements a la Civilisation. But since nobody knows whether there will even be space stations I guess we'll have to wait and see

yeah ive seen it, but, how is it going to handle where the parts are stuck on, I'm probably not making sense but you dont want parts kind of hovering just by where you wanted them. In the video you see him stick the feet onto the willosaur, but how does it stop the foot from being wildly off centre from the leg or overlapping into it, bah, I'm not even making sense to myself here I'm sure it will definatly sorted out by release. They do have a whole year after all.

I really, Really, REALLY hope that the actual spore editor will be better than this. If people want more animals, why not just cut and paste pictures out of magazines? The perfect lame timewasting activity for a rainy day, for the unemployed, when the TV is broken, and the radio is stuck on one station, whoa! blundering off topic there.

uhhh, well It could just be randomly walking... meh, I guess they programmed it with that behaivior for the demo, wright did say that the resource system wasnt worked out yet so I think its a tad unlikely that its activities were actually acoplishing anything except the illusion of busyness

I believe wright did say that by the UFO stage the creature editor would be free anyway so why have a cheat for that. The only cheats that I could think of that wouldnt ruin other peoples games or just be unnecesary would be some kind of hidden easer egg style unlockables. eg a code that replaces your creatures cry with flatulent sounds or makes all of the buildings within your city semitransparent, junk like that

Its not putting anything in the jar its just walking to where the others are. The lighting and angle makes it look like its holding stuff. Sorry to rain on your parade and all.
