Spore: General / Beach front property.
« on: September 26, 2008, 04:37:27 pm »
I don't know if anyone mentioned this before(tried searching and found nothing), But I've discovered a way to start Civ phase with a city on the beach.

Basically what you do is, during the creature phase when your colony migrates for the second time, instad of going to the first nest you come to, you can follow the dotted line further and reach a different nest, that is close to the beach.  I've noticed that the creatures near the second nest are slightly harder than the ones on the first nest, and also most nests are further away(which can be a problem sometimes, if carnivore).  But by doing this you do start with a sea port in civ phase and can cap all the spice in the oceans before other cities have a chance to sprout up, giving you an advantage.

it may be a new patch glitch, make sure that no other races have moved in on one of the other planets in the system, that happened to me once.

just double check that you did take out all the little tribes, sometimes some of the colors will blend in and there will be a tribe you missed...

you can't add fleets to the game without a major change in how space works.

It's a real time game, with an amazingly huge map.  Controlling and directly multiple fleets simultaneously would be absurd without totally changing the way the galaxy is presented.

you could, just make a button or mode you could enter and scrolling out takes you to a rts view where you command your troops, and scrolling back in lets you resume control of your personal ship, your fleet could continue whatever tasks you gave them while you fly around doing whatever, you could even help your fleet or lead the attack.

I thinks it would make for a good gameplay aspect.

you do eventually unlock things like cloud vacuum, cloud dispenser, heatray, and coldray that do it for free the only thing it they use is your ships energy.

Spore: General / (BIG SPOILER) center of the galaxy
« on: September 05, 2008, 12:45:22 am »
so I finally traveled to the center of the galaxy, man its very difficult to make it, the grox have about a million systems around it, and they shoot you for comming anywhere near thier territory.  I ended up having to run from empty planet to empty planet, making small outposts and terraforming them to t1 so that i could buy another colony kit and do it again on the next planet...

but after about an hour of fighting, dieing, and struggling my way towards the center and what do I get for my troubles...

Let me first say that im not normally one to complain, Im actually one of the few defending space stage.

but the scene at the center was very dissapointing, first this big voice tells you about how your connected to other galaxies and how you must spread life through out, (im assuming expansions...) then it turns out to be some little spacecraft named steve.  and after all your hard work and fighting and toiling he gives you a staff of light (or genesis device) and thats it, it spits you back into your galaxy and you have to work your way back through the grox if you want to take your genesis device home... meanwhile your entire empire has crumbled because you just spent and hour not tending to its needs.

I love the game to death, dont get me wrong, but I wish the final cutscene was better...

honestly, i think alot of people are finding space too difficult because they are used to rushing through the first 4 phases, and think they can just gallivant off to the center of the universe right out the space door, and thats just not true, you have to slow down and take your time, make contact with other species slowly one at a time try no to get overwhelmed.  if you take your time, expand your empire via spice trading or trade routes, and go out of your way to gather a few badges some good tech becomes available to you and you can become a force to be reckoned with in the game.

he's encountered 3 epics so far, a big 4 leg creature that resembles nothing, a camel looking creature and a flying epic.  much enjoyment in watching this unfold.

Spore: General / Nintendo DS Spore demo
« on: September 01, 2008, 10:58:40 am »
Anyone who has a Nintendo wii with internet access, can go to the Nintendo channel and Play a demo of spore creatures on their DS via download play.  Its just a real small demo, you get to make a creatures and run around on a small island. but its good to be able to see how the DS game will play since my wife does not want to try and remove me from the computer after Sunday :-)  she will probably get the DS version

Spore: General / Re: Religion's role in spore
« on: August 16, 2008, 08:31:25 pm »
The problem people have isn't with the presence of religion. The problem is with the presence of religious magic, aka miracles.

I agree.  What I believe is the problem is that nobody will just allow themselves to see it as if the Miracles are products of science that the "church" are using to deceive the public.  When I play and have either a religious race or encounter a religious race I will assume that said miracles are in fact children of science, disguised as miracles.

I'm too lazy to enter more than one creature, mabey Ill get lucky though and they will pick "The Cuteness"

Spore: General / Less than a month!!

with only 24 days remaining till I finally get my hands on spore, I thought it a good Idea to start planing my first play through. And I got curious, What paths will you most likely take on your first play through?

What type of creature will you be?

What will be your survival strategy?
-brute force solo defense
-security in numbers

How will you conquer the planet?

What type of alien will you be?
-peaceful explorer
-vile death bringer
-Darth Vader and the DeathStar

Personally I'm going for the omnivore, so I get the best of both worlds. I'll prolly be a pack creature so that I can watch 50 of my race tackle something 4 times our size. Im going to attempt the trading takeover, just to try something different, but will most likely end up having war anyways.  I think that I will be a peaceful explorer until they piss me off, and then its on!

let me know your ideas. and any other decisions I might have left out.

Ok so, mabey I missed some big video, news report, or big thread, but who has information on these epic creatures?  I remeber seeing a video of a creature taller than the trees attacking a city, but other than that I haven't seen anything else.  I keep seeing it all over the forums and Im just curious.
