Seriously, the mysporepage thing is annoying. Don't edit the videos to put your logo into them - especially if you have nothing to do with the making of the original video, aside from leeching it off some other site without even giving it credit. I go out of my way to make sure I don't watch your videos.

You know, I understand where everyone is coming from (putting the name of your website on a product that didn't originate with ebaumsworld of you.) as far as self-promotion.  However, what I don't see is the annoying part: I just don't watch the ends of the vids where he promotes his website.

It's not the part about the self-promoting that really annoys me, it's not giving the source.

yea, editing isn't that big of a deal. It happens. But I also go out of my way not to not watch his videos. In fact i didn't watch this one until I found another source for it.  I felt so deprived :-[
But i was a good find and a great video ;)

where did it come from originally?

Remember that being more realistic doesnt necessarily make it more fun. Being a game, an over-abundance of stars/planets would actually make it impossibly hard to recall and return to places we have already visited. Though I assume there is probably a 'bookmark planet' and 'space-jump to location' feature, my point still stands, I uh... I think?
yea, that's why when you've showed the space phase recently it has lines drawn all over it. I'm assuming that's where you've been so far.

Note that each star can host 0-4 (I think) planets in the game.  Any of which can contain life/the potential for life.

If we take a best-case scanario for all of our 500K stars, that does turn out to be 2 million planets with up to 16 (don't remember the source for this) species of creature.

16X2M = 32 million creatures to explore if every star's 4 life supporting planets has 16 creatures.  This would require many many many creations across millions of people.

Of course, the chance to find habitable planets will be far decreased from this value (who knows how many planets will have life).  Still.  If Spore sells even 500,000 units (1 percent of The Sims, and each person makes one single creature, that's enough to populate the entire galaxy, assuming the chance to find life in a system is less than 25 percent.

Now, imagine if Spore sells 50 million like The Sims.  One's galaxy gets pretty crowded; to the point that there are far more creatures than the theoretical max of a 500k galaxy could support.

Okay, enough babbling.  I'm just thinking of the number of man hours that go into fully inhabiting a galaxy 100 percent with 16 creatures a planet (with all 4 planets habitable)... assuming a total creation time of even 10 minutes a creature (that's real low) is 5.34 million man-hours of work... 3 times more than if 50 people worked on Spore's programming 24 hours a day for 4 years straight (longer than the full-on development cycle of Spore at EA).  The game really has the potential to make use of free, creative labor with us making all of the content.

So from the strength of procedural generation to employing the player to provide artwork for the masses, Spore has the makings of "the last game you'll ever play."  Hopefully expansion packs make things less monotonous after you've played the game for more than a year.
They actually said pretty recently that there would be multiple millions of stars and that the average planet would probably have about 4-5 planets. Also, I don't know where you heard 16 creatures per planet but that sucks.  That's not very many creatures at all.....Spore planets may be smaller than regular planets but still...Even if only one species per planet makes it into Civ phase that means only 15 other types of creatures running around the planet?  That's not very many at all....

They don't sell my type of Ram anymore and when installing something that is very similar to it, it crashes my comp.. :(

I think I may have this problem also.  Haven't really checked into it.  But the Gateway site has an app that checks your computer for memory upgrades, and it told me there are no memory upgrades for mine.  I assume that means the type of memory is obsolete.

How much trouble is it to switch out a mother board, but keep everything else the same?   There's basically no chance I'm getting a whole new comp, so I need another option.

It's possible that your RAM type is obsolete or that you have as much as the motherboard can handle. I wouldn't trust an app from Gateway because they're a big company that wants you to buy another computer from them. How old is your computer? and is it a desktop or laptop?

Woah, first time I heard two people getting along so fast, peace prevails! In your face hate, haha!

That business Sheryl Crawl (or something like that ??? ::)) talked about the genders not being in the games sucks. I mean, you can make different clothes to fishermens, warriors, diplomats, hunters and culturalists (...) but there's only 1 asexual gender? Just imagine if you could play as a female of your species:
(Let's generalize) Your most importants tasks could be selecting the right male and taking care of the babies.
As a male you would be(let's generalize again) fighting other males to earn a female and bringing food to your nest.

How cool that would be? And they could make a system where you could allocate these (and more) basic gender tasks I.E. the female fights and takes care of the babies and the male selects the female and brings food to the nest. Hey this could even work in other areas...

That adds a lot more controversy than just putting in genders does. It adds in stereotypes that would offend people a lot.  People would make lots of creatures how most earth creatures are and it would get people really worked up and it would add an element to the game that IMO doesn't add all that much to the overall game.

your creature will probably only do what you tell it (hopefully) but the creatures in your posse/tribe will probably act by what you've done in the past. If you usually run away from stronger creatures when your by yourself you group probably will too. If you have friends around you and you stay and fight than your group will too. If you generally attack everything you see your race will become more violent and more likely to attack things.  I hope the AI is good enough to do that but AI, especially in a game like this, isn't easy to program.

I'm thinking mini games that you can challenge people to and also some that just start every so often and you can sign up and as soon as there's enough people it starts. For example you could challenge someone to a 1v1 fight or you could sign up for a 20 person creature last creature standing battle. When you win mini games you could win some kind of credits, or you win dna/spice/food for single player mode.

I had some other ideas but I can't seem to remember them any more :P

I think this is a great idea :D
since there's no real way to have true spore multiplayer, something like this sounds great. It could be like a chatroom (expanding on your idea). You could invite friends to private "chatrooms" to socialize and maybe challenge each other to mini games. Or you could choose from a couple public servers to go into.
