Console Games / Re: Which Console Will You Get?

As a Sony fanboy minted in the glory days of the Playstation, I'm obviously going to replace my PS2 with a shiny, white PS3. Maybe it's just brand loyaty or maybe  it's the fact that the PS3's hardware ruins the face of anything else competing with it.

Although, I also have developer loyalty to certain studios. Certainly Hideo Kojima and Polyphony are staying with Sony. But since it looks like Square's going to go big with the X360, I may purchase one of those at some point.

Silent Hunter III is a great game. Putting the voices on German is great and if you have a halfway decent sound system, the sound is amazing.

Right now I'm playing WoW... a lot. Mostly because I'm a huge nerd. Other than that, SHIII and the occasional foray in Garry's Mod, I've been taking small stabs at MGS 2 again in order to get warmed up for Subsistence.

My calendar is currently marked for June 17th when Destroy All Humans comes out. I think it'll be one of the better games of the year in an instant cult classic sense. Besides that, there's not a lot coming out that really sets the gaming world aflame. (I was all psyched about Imperial Glory, praying that it was Cossacks in 3D, but, as always: the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.)

Edit: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is one of my on and off projects. That game's a bigger time investment than I would've imagined. The customization of characters is glorious too.

The parametric duplication (e.g. automatically creating variation the plants) sounds like it'll be the most interesting part.

I wonder how climate will affect plants? Can we grow trees on a hypothetical  ice planet? Or will we be limited to lichens...eww.

A game mechanic that effectively ruins gameplay. Golden!  ;D

The podcast interview, while difficult to hear at times was full of tasty tidbits that we can bandy about until the transcript comes out.

Besides hinting at the possibility of gravitational tools on the UFO (which is awesome), Will clearly states that is space/time distortion around black holes and some other stellar phenomena. Cursory knowledge of what Will wants to do with this game leads me to believe that the existence of such distortion isn't just to look pretty, it might very well be another aspect of the toy that we can play with.  So what sort of gameplay implications might this have?

Time travel, maybe? The more I think about it, it might now work. What else can we do with time?

(Also, mention of the monolith like in 2001: A Space Odyssey and Sim Earth, made me weep with joy.)
