it would be cool if you could have it as an option, then it would add an extra layer to the game if you arn't fast enough

i thought it would be intrested to have to race to evolve sentience, because then you have to make the choice between adding to your brain power and being weaker against the other species but evolving sentience if you survive that long, OR adding killing bits on and becoming the dominant species evolving sentience but while you evolved weapons another race may have evolved brains and beat you to it..

so then, could you have a really big population of your tribe if they are at it like rabbits or would the hut control them kinda like a population limit...not that it really matters but it could get a bit out of proportion.

You never know the bacteria stage may provide interesting game mechanics that just too good to give up by gaining a spine.

Sorry if i'm wrong, but i think when Will 'edits' his creature in the bacteria stage it already has a spine..which really confused me at the time...i sound so picky, but yea they have a kind of cartilidge structure or something..now i've watched the video again. I geuss just getting bigger and more complex gets you into the next stage.

yeah, probably the click and drag boxes from most strategy games.

Kind of off topic but do we know if you get in to the city stage by upgrading your hut or if your population reaches a certain size you move into the city stage or something else?

Spore: General / What is the name for this new genre?
« on: June 20, 2005, 02:17:25 pm »
Sorry if this has already been answered but i searched for genre in the forum and couldn't find anything.

I was just looking at the spore article on gamespot and noticed it labeled it as strategy and IGN labeled it as other. I just thoght we should come up with a name for it, as you can't even really call it an evolution game as that only makes up about half the game, you can't call it sim because that only makes up part or the game and it's the same for strategy and RPG. so...can anyone think of a good name?

Yea Black & White, Civilization and Diablo are great games, i must have owned civ. 2 for 5 years and still play it occasionally. Same for Diablo 2, i just play it online with my freinds and it is more fun than many of my new 'better' games.

Spore: General / Re: Cross breeding? Post your ideas here!
« on: June 07, 2005, 08:13:12 am »
Oviraptor i said a mule, i also said it was sterile! Didn't realise it worked with other species but still it seems relaly limited to me, horses and donkeys are Very similar and Unifont said they had to be very closely related. Still i'd love to see it!

« on: June 06, 2005, 12:34:12 pm »
ok this is my first post on the forum and it's going to sound kind of weird and picky....BUT....it's impossible to cross breed isn't it? different creatures have different amounts of chromosones(sp?) and so i don't think it works. The only one that worked on Earth are mules (donkey+horse) but thats sterile. Mind you this game isn't gonna stick to the rules so it might!

sorry if i got it wrong and this game looks fudging great!
