Pretty cool, worked for a bit, met some great people, got married, finally went to Bosnia.

Some people see working in manual labour or, shockhorror, hospitality as an acceptable loss for the privilege of living in Australia.

Would also like to throw out the fruit-picking industry and getting exploited by farmers called 'Fat Mike-o' is only necessary if you're the sort of person who wants to extend their visa for a second year.

Which is why the Conservative Party mutates every 30 years to fit whatever ideas are in fashion. In the 1920s they were old school Imperialists, in the 1950s they were Keynsians, the 1980s Thatcherites, the 2010s they're slightly more socially progressive Thatcherites/posher Blairites.

Yeah, I'm also making the big assumption that the Tories have a long term plan beyond "be in power forever because we're the Conservatives".

Not surprising, seeing as (at least going by their strategy) the Tories have called this election pretty much just so they can lose it.

Will take this opportunity to also say I'm going to have to disappear since I'm hitting the road again and potentially WHVing.

I don't mind it. It's cheaper/easier to just pay for royalties for an existing song than to get an in-house musician, and often helps promote small time musicians to a larger audience. Or, if you take Westworld's or Black Mirror's example, helps create a sense of familiarity that is otherwise impossible with an OST.

The problem is that most of the time they're wispy hipster acoustic covers of The Smiths or something.

I'm glad at least the rp stuff is still there, we put a lot of work into those.  Don't taunt the dynamite monkey any further into deleting what's left

Hey Inkling I'll send you a picture of a twix bar if you delete this thread

I am insulted.  I'm disgusted that you think I'd be swayed by such a suggestion.

It'd take a picture of at least five twix bars.

well, I'm not made of stone

Maybe the problem was never Trump, but a political class of Moustache-Twirlingly evil jokers who wouldn't receive a negative consequence for their actions even if society collapses in its entirety because of their generational wealth - who will never take action against this gigantic toddler in the seat of ultimate power because they're all hacks who have FOMO that they'll never have the chance to plunder "big government" into submission ever again.

Or, perhaps, it's the people getting their healthcare stolen who are buttmad whiners that are what's wrong with the world. They're not rolling over and letting themselves get killed in the name of progress so they're just as bad and crying :^]

Imagine being as weak as a Congress member. Imagine having such a lack of character that you can't kick out this person who is almost certainly either going to get you killed or voted out of office, just because you want to pass/repeal laws on behalf of people who pay you comically tiny kickbacks (these people get lobbied for the low thousands). Laws which, as it is becoming clear, are making their lives unlivable in their own constituencies due to residents screaming at them.

They're so locked into partisanship that they won't even turn on their President (who they never even wanted) to save their own careers. Even 1930s Appeasement lobbyists weren't this pathetic.

Chapo Trap House. Left-wing political comedy for unemployed Humanaties Graduates. Episode 82 (interview with pisspiggrandad) is incredible, as is their Election Day episode.

Also Northern Lion Super Show, which is technically a twitch stream but the focus is almost never on the game and it devolves into a comedy podcast-style argument with a cast of personalities about whether using paper plates is normal human behaviour. Example.
