Spore: Roleplaying and Story Games / Alternate Timelines
« on: July 29, 2007, 04:20:55 am »
Perhaps we should make more timelines.

I think we should do just that.

Create a meta-thread with links to a whole bunch or alternate time lines, where stories and whatnot should introduce the world how it is. We may even have RPs in them...

This thread will contain parallel universes, including key differences (i.e. Major World Leader X Not Born) and preferably a map or imagery of some sort. Perhaps some invention may even allow movement between timelines! *hint hint*

Quote from: Alternate Timeline 001 by Jack Zetter and Brandonazz
Two years have passed since the Independence was destroyed.

Beyon is no more; a field of debris in the path of REDSTAR.

The Alliance of Honor is gone, disbanded for fear of annihilation.

The Walking God has retreated from this Galaxy, broken and disgraced.

The Peskitoriantais are few, enslaved by their masters to feed and serve.

The Grand Torpal Empire and Nemesis REDSTAR strike fear into the hearts of all.

The change occurrs in Torpal nature. They are more disposed toward violence and anger.

The Halcyon war did significant damage to the Wexxians.

Most Wexxians would have died before even getting any fighting done, as the Originator Station was destroyed at the Defeat at Thishen.

Only one Wexxian survived… Nemesis, who was smart enough to get away when his hippie cousins began annoying the Halcyon Cooperation.

Nemesis befriends the Necromicon and gives them technology to begin a campaign of destruction across the galaxy.

Point of Difference - Nemesis rallies the Torpals as allies, promising them glorious battles beyond their wildest dreams.

With his allies, Nemesis destroys the Halcyon Corperation… the Halcyon Parasite is biologically re-engineered to ensure loyalty to Nemesis alone.

With the power of the parasite, combined with a slave “Over-Deity-of-Fear”; Nemesis gains control over his allied in a violent betrayal.

With an army of slaves, Nemesis declares war on the rest of the galaxy. Thousands of planets are desolated, even more are enslaved to feed his army and create more weapons of despair.

Azuron was never terraformed; the surviving Wexxians have fled as quickly as the could.

No method is to low and nothing is sacred to the Betrayer, after meeting the REDSTAR he again puts on a mask of deception. He convinces the REDSTAR leader that their ideals are similar. And offers to pledge his allegiance to him.

When they meet for negotiations, Nemesis tears the leader into shreds and proclaims himself ruler over REDSTAR. Many join under his banner… those who don’t; are massacred in front of their families.

By fear, mind-control and mad ambitions; Nemesis becomes the first ever ruler of the sector… and he expands rapidly.

Species he conquers, who are not advanced enough to be of use to him are terminated.

Weakness becomes a crime, punishable by genocide.

Nemesis’s Reign of Terror has begun…

Historically, when the Talans first entered their wormhole, they made contact with the Wexxians first and REDSTAR second. Because of this, the REDSTAR ship was ignored and rebuffed. In this timeline the reverse occured.

REDSTAR was able to play off of the Talan desire for exploration and integration, leading them into joining.

Backed by the new organization that it had joined, Talan expeditions increased rapidly, and younger species were quickly met by open arms by the explorers, causing quite a few to join what the Talans portrayed as a glorious organization fighting for peace.

The new grouping of the incredible number of young races was known as the Honor Protectorate.

As REDSTAR's wars escalated, the ample manpower of the new members was used to full advantage. REDSTAR factories were built on their worlds and many were transported to work in those on distant worlds. The production of ships increased sharply, and though the enemies of REDSTAR, organized under the the newly formed Grand Alliance, could not win, they didn't lose.

An uneasy peace was signed and to this day both sides continue to militarize, and war could rip apart the sector once again at any moment.

///Urgent Message: To: Casmut Tsull, Ministers.
From: Border Defence-Occupied Nihon.

We have spotted unindentified craft during battle with Urshan insurgent forces, which we suspect belongs to an outer force that is hostile to the desires of the League. It named itself to be from a faction named REDSTAR, which is something we know little about.///

The planet Baltha of the newly independent Tsullist Republic of the Seream has shown hints of anti-Tsullist feeling. Your order are to occupy the planet, and root our The Resistance there. Show no mercy. We may find the Wife of the disgraced king there.///

///To: Pardai

It is a crime to say that name, punishable by death! The squard is dead! Now, I have a meeting with the League!///

///From: General Pardai
To: Casmut Tsull
I apologise. Your mission will be a success. For the Glory of Auyuelcliadia!///

"Now, my friends, we have encountered a strange new force on the edge of Auyuelcliadia, which encountered our troops in the Occupied Former Urshan Empire. They claim to come from an organisation named 'REDSTAR'. Have we encountered such before?"

The Torpalian League of Facists delegate sat up, thoughtfully, "I have heard vaguely of such a thing, and it has had brief contact with those snivelling dogs in the Torpalian Empire. Incidentally, I am waiting Kangor. When will you give us jurisdiction over The Torplian Empire?"

"The Torpallian Facist Force will gain power over the Torpallian Empire when our current predicament is over. We are still at war with the Free ViS, the Urshan insurgents, and countless overs. Are troops are still stretched occupying the remmnants of the Urshan Empire whilst Labour tries to take control. Although I hear that Tsullist Auyuelcliadia has annexed several planets, including Nihon, although the United Urshan-Auyuelcliad Resistance Movement is still giving you trouble. We are also forced to occupy much of the colonies on Olympia and similar planets, although I hear Marta Keruul had spread the faith there with some zeal, which placates the Ingrepo Tsullist Republic of Olympia somewhat. We are also having troubles in the Occupied Xometrain Empire and the I have ordered the exitinction of the Omic. We are too stretched for another war right now. What should the League of Victory's stance been against REDSTAR, friends?"

Jiana spoke up, "I believe we should be early friend until our current predicaments are over, of course."

"I am justified in my annexation of the territories. Labour is too slow! Thie armies too weak! I see no reason to spend TA lives for no benefit to The Glory of Auyuelcliadia."

"Watch you tongue, squidbutt! Labour may just take those planets back!"

Casmut eyed the Labour Ambassador with dislike.
"My early policy was correct. The Urshan are inferior, and unfit to exist in the League of Victory. You could attempt to take the planets from us, but from what I hear you can barely hold onto thos eyou own now."

"Friends! Such talk damages the reputation and solidity of the League of Victory. We should work together against our mutual opponents. We are all similar: Tsullist-style and Labour-style governments are being set up across the galaxy. We have shown the Galaxy strong rulership! I will not standby and allow you to ruin this! Soon, even the mighty Torpals and ViS will be members of the League. Now, our stance on this 'REDSTAR'?"

"The ViS Fr_LOV Factions supports peace for now."

"The Xometrian Right agrees."

"As does the Tsullist Republic of Beyon."

Casmut smiled, as the various minor races of the League bickered. He, Kangor and Jiana held all the power here, as the founding races of the League of Victory. The rest? The Labour has the capacity to be strong, but it struggled to much with internal problems. Once they were dealt with, it would be a force to be reckoned with. Until then, Casmut was happy to take advantage. Tsullist Auyuelcliadia would grow faster, and would always be stronger. The rest? Minor factions, insurgencies, rebels, rulers over single planets! He has spoken to Kangor at length about this: The League didn't exist. Kangor had no intention of supporting any of these factions, only of using them to conquer territories and back up LOV campaigns against thier enemies. The real league of Victory was Tsull, Jiana, Kangor and Labour, to a lesser extent. The rest were just little people with delusions of independence whilst he and his cadre pulled the strings. One by one they were occupied, annexed...always for thier protection. But whilst they were protected, the League of Victory's leading members swelled. The galaxy had a new Elite. And he'd be damned if he'd share power with Jiana or Kangor, come the day, But first, he needed an excuse to conquer the Labour....

The Delegation of Unified Powers had become a strong alliance based on their numbers alone. The large group of young species had bonded together in the largest alliance the galaxy had yet seen. But their insistance on the entry of the younger species left the older alliances such as the CAB as well as the O.T.H.E.R., angry at this new power rising within their galaxy.
It was during a CAB meeting that an angry Torpal delegate expressed his dislike of the DUP and their large expansions that the tensions between the CAB, O.T.H.E.R., and DUP alliances grew. After much insistance by the Torpals, war was threatened by the CAB on the DUP if their expansions were not stopped.
The Auyuelcliads had, from the beggining, expressed interest in the welfare and protection of the DUP, creating a strong friendship between both the Forthi and Auyuelcliad peoples. Help also came in the form of the Yunimius being a part of both the DUP and the O.T.H.E.R.
Upon the mention of war, the Forthi, named the emergency political ambassador to the CAB and O.T.H.E.R. Alliances, called for a meeting with the O.T.H.E.R. and asked for the O.T.H.E.R.'s help if war was to happen. The ViS refused because of the wastefullness and improbability that the DUP would win against the CAB and threatened a resignation from the O.T.H.E.R. and a joining with the CAB if O.T.H.E.R. was siding with the DUP. On the other hand, the Auyuelcliads seemed to prefer peace over war. Both the Forthi and the Auyuelcliads pushed for peace over war and whether it was because of this action, or the reluctance of the CAB to take action, a possible large war was avoided.

Alteration
The Delegation of Unified Powers had become a strong alliance based on their numbers alone. The large group of young species had bonded together in the largest alliance the galaxy had yet seen. But their insistance on the entry of the younger species left the older alliances such as the CAB as well as the O.T.H.E.R., angry at this new power rising within their galaxy.
The Forthi, designated as emergency ambassadors, tried desperately to avoid the war, but to no avail. The ViS seperated from the O.T.H.E.R. Alliance after they declared war on the CAB for attacking the DUP. Months later ViS ships were spotted flying in formation with CAB fleets.
The hordes of younger races which made up the DUP were devastated within the first few waves of attacks, new to galactic warfare. It was only thanks to the O.T.H.E.R. races training of the younger races that lead to the devastation that spread across the galaxy. Slowly the younger races gained expierience, but they lost large chunks of their seperate empires.
The ensuing destruction left the DUP in ruins. The CAB races had been hurt in the drawn out war as well and their alliance dissolved into nothing as the War Party, led by the Torpals, and the Peace Party, led by the Mallen, fought over what to do with the remains of their empire. The O.T.H.E.R. races which had sided with the DUP were devastated as well, left with the ruins of there once great empire. The Cold War that both alliances thought had been avoided was sparked by the DUP.

Alternative Timeline: The Ingrepo's Non-existance
The Grand Union of Races was in the Third Expansion Age, and were looking to establish a foothold on the newly discovered planet of Olympia. Already known internationally for being ready to settle without major modifications, it already had Omic, Wexxian, and Arkibal colonies. The first colony however, had been that of the UTR, which had later been expanded by the UKDF. Luckily, there were no locals, and it made the establishing of new territories on the other continents much easier. Some minor species were discovered, which had there been no interference, would have evolved into sapience in a matter of millennia. Trade between the Wexxians and the Grand Union prospered, and due to some small military campaigns against the Pirate Lords, the Arkibals eventually joined. Defensive pacts were signed with the Wexxians and Austians, the latter eventually becoming a Member of Honour. The Grand Union's power increased for many hundreds of years, until their capital world of Vii was destroyed by an accidental Torpal military experiment. This caused a full-out war, in which the Union fell into disorder.

Light Patches

The patches on the top of the creature that differ slightly in pigmentation from the skin are areas that can detect changes in light, and many other frequencies on the electromagnetic spectrum. The upper cluster detects lower frequencies, including visible light, and the lower cluster detects ultraviolet and above, to an extent. Though not giving them as much ability to discriminate symbols well, this has caused their system of writing to be based on colors wrather than symbology.

Epidermus

Sensory Cluster - What you see here is a layer of the skin made of "Detatched Carbon." Below the layer is the "Primary Epidermus" of the creature. The large object you see is its sensory organ. The tendrils spread out from its core and allow even the slightest movement on the surface of the skin to be detected by exerting infintecimal pressure on the organ. Depending on the amount of pressure, the organ uses a primitive sort of axon and dendrite function to cause the cluster of "cells" beneath it move against each other in a certain way, vibrating on a certain frequency that the creature's "nervous sytem" is able to decode as the sensation of touch. Therefore, the "nervous system" is not spread throughout the entire body, a metaphorical telegraph system, but is detatched and works in a system of non-electrical signals.

Detatched Carbon - The epidermus is generally covered by a number of "unicellular microbes" that have developed a symbiosis within the creature. When the surface cells of the creature's skin die, these organisms obtain energy from a chemical process involving their cellular structures. The hydrogen within the cells structures is extracted and the bonds made with carbon in the molecules are turned into energy for the cell. The hydrogen and other elements within the molecules are then used by the organism to reinforce its own cellular structures, which are generally not carbon dependant. The excess carbon is organized into a grid pattern by the organism to condense it in size, then reintegrated into the remaining biological material on the epidermus, forming a strong, hard layer of carbon all over the skin.

Epidites - Epidites are the symbiotic unicellular organisms that cover the epidermus of the creature. These organisms are created by mitosis of other similar cells. Their DNA is incorporated into the epidermal DNA of the creature, so that each successive generation of the creature will have living organisms on their skin, produced at the same time as them.

Detatched Carbon Epidermal Layer - The layer of the epidermus composed of detatched carbon created in the chemical process of the Epidites. This layer in much harder than the primary epidermus and provides an additional layer of protection from outside forces.

Epidermal Cells - Cells in the Primary Epidermal Layer reproduce through binary fission. They are an incredibly simple cell, composed of the genetic material within a elliptical spherical structure composed of carbon-hydrogen molecules, with an occasional oxygen molecule near ultramicroscopic pores that allow for liquid homeostasis to be maintained. These cells come to exist in the creature's development from a type of meiosis undergone by a cell that eventually develops with maturation into all of the simpler cells within the organism.

Electrovibratory System

Brain - The creature's brain is composed of a long, thin cluster of cells, with a number of 'nodes' stretching off. The nodes contain the cells that receive the vibrations from throughoust the body; some nodes control sensory vibrations and others control motor function. Each node cluster is comprised of groupings of slightly different cells, a unique tissue for each vibration frequency. When a cell receives a frequency, it causes an enzyme within the cell to activate and release an electrochemicak impulse to the cluster of cells controlling motor function via a series of liquid channels that pass throughout the non-conductive brain. The sensory tissue in the brain can discern an incredibly infintecimal frequency variance in the vibrations of the body, preventing confusion, and the electrochemical reactions take place within fractions of milliseconds. This is because all of the conditions are correct, except for the vibaration. When the vibration is added, it's the equivalent of lighting a match in a gunpowder room. The part of the brain that uses axons and dendrites is the section that controls memory & reasoning.

Nodes - Throughout the body are a series of electrovibratory nodes; receivers of signals that cause muscles to move. They, like the nodes of the brain, receive the vibration and turn it into chemical energy. The chemical energy then causes the movement of the strong muscles throughout the body.

Mating Practices & Growth

Well, you see, when a Mommy Suntus and a Daddy Suntus really love eachother...

Well lets see. At birth, Suntus are genderless. After reaching an age comparable to 5 human years, a chemical process begins inside their bodies that for the purpose of simplicity we will call Puberty I. They first begin to manifest gender-specific traits in behavior. Gender-A increases consumption of food and generally forms protective groups with others of the same behavior. Gender-B Becomes more vocal and has the impulse to tend to the younger Suntus.
At an age comparable to 20 years, Gender-A has grown thicker bones and a spike underneath its bony counterbalance below its mouth. It has also grown thicker legs and a stubbier tail. Gender-B has developed a sac filled with a gaseous material it roughly the same position as the bones supporting the spike in the Gender-A's.
They mate when the spike pennetrates the soft membrane on the surface of the skin near the sac. The gaseous material bonds with the genetic coating on the spike and mixes with a liquid solution on the walls of the sac. The spike is withdrawn and the membrane reseals, and 2-4 infant Suntus mature along the edges of the wall. the gestation period lasts roughly 18 Earth months, and then they emerge by breaking through the same soft membrane.

Writing System
Their writing system is based on different "colors," but since they can discriminate a larger area of the electromagnetic spectrum, they have many more. The lower on the spectrum the color is, the lower the pitch of the sound that it represents in speech. Therefore, it could be approximated for understanding purposes like this:

Do -
Re -
Mi -
Fa -
So -
La -
Ti -
Do -

Language
The Suntus language is based on pitch wrather than independent sounds. This ties in with their writing system in a way that makes it incredibly easy to learn. Since their monomandible can expand or contract to ingest larger or smaller food, it can also expand or contract causing lower or higher pitch values. The second feature of the language is emphasis. They might blare a pitch in one word loudly, changing its meaning. For example:

fa - mi = People

FA - mi = Suntus

Suntus Ethnic Conflict
As I said early, we might consider it snobbish to call their species Suntus, mainly because it's the name of one of the three primary ethnicities. As history on their world progressed the Suntus ended up being that much luckier than their Charc and Shor counterparts, forcing them into slavery of wiping vast swaths of them out with geneocide. The remaining Charc and Shor though, are finding an opportuntiy to redeem their people and escape the oppression of the Suntus by escaping into space.

Doso Ruledom

It may have been the first unifying government, but it was still very confederated. Patriarch Doso was born in Suntar, the most centralized Suntus society of its day. Its government was based off of Agriculture, as were most societies, but there was a difference. The number of fruit bearing vegitation of every major estate was looked upon every time the ruler was contested or died, and whoever seemed to have the most vegitation became the Agrak, which is most closely translated as Agricultural Patriarch. The Agrak had control over everything that didn't let him take vegitation from other estates in the area. Doso's only other sibling died at a young age, so when both of his parents died he became the head of the largest estate and the Agrak of Suntar.
Doso made his first move toward power when at 23 EHY*, he and a band of some of the large in the region moved southwest along the fertile coast until they came to a nearby village aligned with the Shuk Agrisociety.          An Agrisociety was a group of Suntus that would tend to the fruit bearing vegitation collectively, and whoever did seemingly the most work would become Trak, something resembling Head Figure, for about one month in which time he would have to do little work, but would deal with outside soceties when necessary. Those in these societies who did no work were either fed by their parents and children, or starved, making ones like this rare.
The current Trak of this society was known as Outoi. Doso brought his group to his dwelling and forced him to come out in front of the society who had been also forced from their work. Doso explained to him how their government work and it made their people strong, but when Outoi refused to even consider it, Doso had him removed from the village forcefully. He told the people that their society was now part of the Suntar heirarchy and that they now had to follow whoever had the most vegitation. A few of them objected, but he had them also sent out into the wilderness where they would no doubt be killed, claiming that the vegitation by their former dwellings now belonged to him.
Doso continued this with a number of minor groups in the region, securing his family's place as the Agraks of Suntar for long to come with his confiscating of native lands. At 25 EHY, the people of the Shuk Agrisociety, the group that most Suntus in the region associated with, decided to try and stop him. Volunteers in the society grouped together and made their way with sharpened tree branches toward Suntar.
Doso wouldn't let them succeed. With his broad powers he appropriated a group of Suntus four times the size of the volunteer force in a day, 2000 to their 500, and met them in the first documented battle in Suntus history. The volunteers put up a strong fight, killing 800 of Doso's men, but they  unpreventably failed, and the surviving 100 of them retreated home. Doso took his remaining men and marched on Shuk. It surrenderec to his will easily. He then found a strong collaborator, and arranged it that he had far more land that anyone else in the society. He was made the Subagrak of Shuk, and made to answer only to Doso.
In the following years , he continued the first ever military campaign in history and brought almost all of the settled Suntus tribes under his control, placing a Subagrak at the head of every major society.
At 28 EHY, he even ordered the first rafts built, wide, hardened vegitation would be strapped together with longer, more flexible vegitation. It all was from his increasingly bloated estate so he never overstepped his bounds doing so. They carried Suntus north to found two new model societies along either side of the Suntus gulf. in the year 12,000T Doso was 30 EHY.

The planets are incredibly close to eachother, but neither seems to have a gravatational effect on the other. Perhaps the entire system was part of some bizzare precursor experiment? Aside from Spore that is.

My perfect civilization based game would combine the mapping of Rome: Total War, would be fractal and would advance just like Civilization, except it would move just as slowly as Rome: TW. There wouldn't be squares, cities would be placed like cities in Rome by your settlers, minimum X distance from the last city, and immigration and migration and reproduction would make your cities grow, food availability would just be a prerequisite, resource ue wouldn;t be determined by assigning workers directly, but by supply and demand and how many people lived in the city, and units would move like armies in Rome, and they WOULD be armies, because nobody knows how many people are in a UNIT, and... Yeah...

*dreams s'more*

So what would your perfect game be?

I'm not going to at first name this creature, or say what it looks like, how tall it is, or say anything about its spacecraft. I'm not going to tell you how many feet it has or if it even has a "head." I'm going to start at an almost unnoticable point and spread slowly until the entire organism as been revealed. I'm going to make it as different as possible, within my personal capacity. My last creature was practically lizard humans with a tail (far from original) so I thought I owed myself.

And so begins their custom biology.

Quote from: The Dictionary of Galactic Language
Tal'po (Talan) pn. A conjugation of the words for home and dwelling that means "Home-Dwellers," the name the Tal'po call themselves.

Evolution

Planet & Architecture

Height: 7-8 ft, Variation Common

Weight: 200-400 lb

Body Features: The Tal'po are a bipedal reptillian species with large tusks emerging from their skull beneath their mouth. They are hairless and their hearing device is a system of internal bones and fluids inside of their gasping appendages. They also have a long vestigal tail left over from its purpose as a counterbalance during evolution.

Government:
The Tal'po are part of an Empire ruled by two Tal'roks, or "Home-Rulers." These rulers have absolute power for the duration of their reign, which last 2 years. Every two years every citizen of the empire must vote for a noble family. The top two noble families then choose a member to become Tal'rok. The only thing the Tal'roks may not do is to undergo diplomacy that would harm their own people and change the laws reguarding Tal'rock election.

Emblem

Disposition: The Tal'po are generally a mild species, but have several primitive instincts, due to their long genetic history of being carnivores. In recent years they have begun to expirament with non-meat foods due to severe depopulation of several major species on their home.

Architecture: Most Talan homes are based on a similar design. Tal'po construct most buildings with a slight dome curvature that end in a slightly rounded top. This is their recreation of the natural curvature found in their tusks, which they take great pride in. Recently, they have continued to improve upon their methods, realizing that their simple method of ancient tree-bark "huts" were actually structurally reinforced by the inwardly curving style. This has made their buildings able to withstand most earthquakes on their home moon, due to their minor energy.

Home Moon: The Tal'po evolved on a small moon, orbiting a large planet with similar climatic conditions. Their moon is called Tal, or "home", and the planet is called Na'po, or "New-Dwelling." The moon and planet have Nitrogen-Oxygen atmospheres, and a temperature range from 40 to 120 degrees farenheit. This name for the planet is a relatively recent change, it previously being called Harput. Both the planet and the moon have atmospheres livable by the Tal'po, and the gravity of the planet is only twice that of the moon, due to the moons dense mantle. In the last few Rashks (The time it takes for the the planet to revolve around their star) they have began to migrate to the planet. Many build domes that dampen the gravity using new technology, but many before them gained honor for their family by venturing out into the gravity and constructing new villages and towns.

Planetary Landscape

Religion: The Tal'po have become less religious in recent years, but have a sort of tribal tradition caused by their ancestral ties. The most prominent religion was that of the tribes on the side of Tal facing the planet. For thousands of years the Talan tribes believed the planet was a god in the form of a great mirror, reflecting back an image of their home with which to judge themselves; It was thusly called Harupt, or "[That Which] Reflects". During the day, the planet's night side would be showing and low in the sky with the sun above, leading to the belief that the sun, Su, was the ruler of the gods, and Harput bowed before even him each day. At night, the planet would fill the top of the sky and its day side would be showing. They believed that this is when they were judged, and those that were judged too old to do good were taken to the sky, which filled with points of light they believed to be the gods and their ancenstors looking in judgement upon them alongside the great mirror. On the side of the moon that didn't face the planet, the population was sparce and their beliefs diverse, so when the planet-facers came they were quickly assimilated, leaving little history of their beliefs.

Below is an image of the two Kragh (Family) Nebulas, which were believed to be choice homes of the deceased.

Measurement of Time: most of their time, like ours, is based on the movement of the heavens. Below is a list of their measurements and our equivalents:
-Sura (360 Days): The time it takes for their planet to completely orbit their star.
-Fortagh (90 Days): One fourth of their celestial (year).
-Rak (30 hours): The time that it takes: 1. For their moon to orbit the planet once, 2. For their moon to rotate completely once, and 3. The time it takes the planet to rotate, though they didn't know of this until the space era.
-Forta (3 hours): One tenth of their celestial day.
-Sa'Tak or Sun-Time (5 minutes): One thirtyith of their celestial hour.
-Moment (1/2 Second): Represents one moment in time.

Schedule: The Tal'po day lasts for 30 Earth hours, the time it takes for their planet to roatate, and the moon to rotate and make one full revolution around the planet. There is exactly 15 hours of light and 15 hours of darkness on any one day. The most interesting feature is that every day in their 360 year, the time of sunrise and sunset move forward by 5 minutes. By the time half of the year has passed, what was previously day is now night, and what was previously night is now day. It reaches a certain time of sunrise and sunset, always 15 hours apart, only once per year. They call the time when the first 15 hours are light and the second 15 darkness the first point of equality, and they call the first 15 hours of darkness and the second of light the second point of equality.

Ship Design: The Tal'po ship design is strongly influenced by their building style, based on curvature akin to that of Tal'po tusks. The below image is that of the survey ship to first enter the Tal'po Wormhole.

The KHF-1, or Karatuk-Han Fosgal, meaning Intergalactic Scout, and is literally translated Space-Located Finder, which due to the loose Tal'po linguistic structure can be translated properly. It is the first Tal'po ship to have the Alliance of Honor Trades for Movement Technology incorporated directly into its design; others were previosuly altered.

Here is the Tal'po Capital Ship. The frontal area in the military command center with the spire at its forefront, and the two large spheres are reserved for the two chambers of the government led by the two consul-esque leaders. The main area is for general facilities and has all the parts of a usual Tal'po city, and transports thousands of civilians or troops. The main area is flanked by two massive engines that allow the ship to move vastly faster than any other ship.

Language: The Tal'po speak by expanding and contracting muscles in their esophagas and on the roofs of their mouths. Their dialects tend to include guttural sounds and sharp clicks. Their language is very basic and function, comprised of much fewer words than others; it has even been called the Jang polar opposite. Their words tend to revolve around concepts, with less emphasis on part of speech, as it is usually implied. One example is the word po. It can mean "dweller of" (Tal'po means Home Dwellers) or "dwelling" (Na'po means New Dwelling). This makes their language on of the easiest to learn and makes more successful diplomatic transactions. The one downfall of the language though, is its inability to be perfectly clear in reference to legal precedants. This makes it necessary for legal documents to be long-winded, in order to prevent loopholes, and this dissuades many Tal'po from studying law.

Do you think it'll be possible for the computer to use doom weapons on your home planet like the nuke, global warming tool, or big-yellow-beam-of-annihilation? That could make a game quite interesting for you if your home planet is another loose-fitting belt for your star  :P

Alright.

Now Daan...the scout ship asked them to respond. They did. Is the scout ship telling them to give some sort of specific designation now?

Do you think that Spore will have good enough graphics and sound to create an environment that functional as well as asthetically pleasing? As in so nice that you're willing to sitthere and just gaze at the shore during creature stage for a bit or to just watch your sector from space view as stars shimmer, just savoring moments? Or do you think it will be more functional, as in you just want to play and get done what you want to get done?

(OOC: Alright, my species is in sort of an RP frought, so I'm gonna toss in some flavor!)

(Background: If you read the Tal'po creature bio, you might know that their dominant belief was a sort of mythology based on that of those who lived on the side of the moon facing the planet, although there were more sparsely populated tribes on the other side with much different religions. Since they have been all but obliviated, some have turned to dangerous radicalism in their beliefs.)

Aboard the supply ship Dorokant travelling through the artifical Wexxian wormhole.

A rough voice crackled over the audio.

Fourth Gortus Gargh: "This is Gargh. We are now approaching the point of exit, at which time we will deposit our supplies at a rebel supply dump and initialize the return sequence. I am officially setting the ship to medial security. Everyone be on their guard. That is all."

Inside the cargo chamber.

Thran looked down from the audio box. Sweat was beading on his forehead. I must be careful he thought. They must not know. He looked longingly at the explosive stretched across his tusks. The stars will raise me up and I will be great he thought. I will shine more brightly than all the stars in the Nalla Nebula. He slowly stood up and walked over to a small crate, covered in a fine red silky cloth. Upon the cloth was a small platter, and in the platter but a drop of crimson red liquid. He reached out and dipped his hand in, touching his right tusk in three places, and on his left he placed two. Malak'toh Huruktan Pan Er For he whispered, then turned his tusks upword and closed his eyes. He slowly brought his hand to a panel on his chest.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gargh was hurled into the far wall, his left side singed. His eyes stayed open for only a moment, and he watched through the front view panel as the wormhole reverberated and suddenly, the ship drifted to one side...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A blinding light filled the night sky of an uninhabited moon, deep in REDSTAR space. The light faded and a long cargo ship was seen barreling toward the moon trailing a jet of fire.

Shipman Zok: "All crew evacuate vessel! All crew evacuate vessel!"

He was shook violently as he struggled to stay up at the communication headquarters.

The vessel was seen splitting apart, multiple smaller vessels flying away. The freighter exploded and fireballed down to the surface with a roar, creating a both beautiful and terrible meteor shower.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shipman Thar emerges from a smoking escape pod, the ground around it charred. He glanced around and saw several others emerging like him. He glanced at a sensor panel back inside the escape pod.

Scanning...

Scanning...

Error. Spire interference. Tetheron detected. Aborting.

Damn! He thought to himself. Falling out of the wormhole blocked our sensors. He did a double take. We fell out of a wormhole, he thought as a terrrified expression came over him. And we could be anywhere...

Hypothetically speaking, because it's illegal to download free music ;), which of those programs are best in terms of download speed, ease of use, selection, and virus protection. Hypothetically speaking  ;), I would use limewire.
