I will fight, in full gladiator regalia, anyone who disputes my claim.

And we in Canada are fine because our banks didn't collapse, since they haven't changed since the 1800's. It works, at least.

It IS better to rule in Hell than to serve in Heaven.

So... Suffering for eternity with the illusion of control is better than eternal joy without that illusion? An unimpeachable, omniscient, omnipotent, morally perfect ruler is far better than trying to control it yourself... Unless you are said unimpeachable, omniscient, omnipotent, morally perfect ruler.

Which is why we must aspire to become said unimpeachable, omniscient, omnipotent, morally perfect ruler.

That is if you exclude the Vernion backstory.

The subject is actually quite well thought out.  You can create excitement also through the interaction between humans after the takeover.  The protection of a village against the martians would require the building of traps, and a way to combat the black smoke.  From the martian perspective, there is the conflict between the martians back home, and perhaps even against their original food source.

But how?  Should we make it a forum game?

And should it be played on the side of the Martians, the humans, or the old Martians?

Yannick, you have been infected by a rare disease.  Quarantine of your avatar is in effect.  May god help you.

To all those who has viewed Yannick's avatar and sig, I advise you to thoroughly wash your brain in hot water, and to check it for contamination.  The woman within his profile is not to be trusted.  If you hear her talking to you, do NOT do what she says.

This announcement brought to you by the SPW (Society for the Prevention of World domination)

Looks like omegatripod and I aren't the only WotW fans here. Of course, omegatripod's such a fan his name is based on it and he has the Jeff Wayne computer game(which is actually really good).

You bet your sweet ass you're not the only one! I've ban a fan for almost all my life, and i'll be seeing Jeff's Wotw in june!

Are you kidding?!  WotW is one of my most favorite science fiction works.

I actually tried to create an almost DnD-esque game around it, but no one I knew wanted to play it.  Apparently, they hadn't read the book  >:(

@Yuu: Is it bad if in the story that I'm writing, the villian uses your exact arguments?

Human nature is a disease. A disease like Sickle-cell anemia. It helps against certain diseases, but in the end, it is a disease in itself.

I couldn't resist.

EDIT:  Also, I believe that the human race must not submit to anything.  It IS better to rule in Hell than to serve in Heaven.  Preferable, it would be best to rule in Heaven.

Yes, we are twisted.  Yes, we can be corrupted.  But instead of replacing ourselves with something superior, we must become superior.
And if we build machines to do our jobs, then we must rule over them.
