So does one post a picture in continuation of the previous post, or do we tell you, the GM, what to draw?

Because the crudely cutout pictures and the bright jarring colors would not do well as a background for a presentation. How would one even read the text?

Well, the upside of a service like this would be never having to worry over whether the game you shelled out 50$ for works with your current setup or not.

And if I can play Little Big Planet on the PC, then I will die happy.

Movies / Re: The BEST Movies You Have Seen

I loved "A Scanner Darkly".

Throughout the whole movie, I was terribly confused.  Then in an epic flash of an ending, I fell in love with it.

I concur.
I watched bits and pieces of it.

I still don't know what it was about.

Still a good movie, for a Keanu Reeves affair.

If you only watched bits and pieces of it, I understand your confusion completely.   But be assured, the whole thing together is awe-inspiring.

David Bowie is the greatest man to ever live.

He captured our hearts, and will forever be remembered!  :'(

Yyyeaahh...maybe I should clarify a little. They're tripods(formally referred to as Fighting Machines) that have metal tentacles and are ninety feet high. The aliens are Martians, which are bug eyed lumps of flesh with sixteen long, whip-like tentacles. The "lazor beams" are actually Heat-Rays, which shoot out invisible beams of heat. Except at night, under the right lighting conditions, where it looks like a faint green beam of light. The tripods can shoot projectiles out of a cylindrical magnetic accelerator. The projectiles do not explode upon impact, instead releasing a gigantic cloud of poisonous black vapor. There is also a large steel cage carried by the tripods, which they put humans in. The Martians feed on protein in its simplest form - blood. For some reason they prefer human blood. We don't really know why, maybe they're picky or something. There's also this Handling-Machine, which looks like a five-legged robotic crab thing. It has a lot of tentacles, some with various tools on the end, and it also has a steel cage on it's back. The aforementioned "foghorns" are actually the sound of the Martians communicating from inside the tripods. It sounds something like this. *ahem* AAAAALLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! If you've seen the 2005 film by Steven Spielberg, you know what it's like. The Martians have also brought along this fast-growing red weed, which contrary to what is shown in the 2005 Spielberg film, does not get fertilized by human blood. It feeds on water. Oh yeah, and the Martians are only invading the UK. And it's 1901 or so. And they traveled to Earth in big pods shot out of a cannon on Mars.
Is that clear enough for you?
'

I was kidding.

I just wanted to make it more clear to the readers at home.

Basically, you get to play as aliens in Striders with lazor beams.  And cans of poisonous gas.

Kill all humans, harvest their blood.  With crab machines with tentacles.  And cages.

Did I mention the foghorns?

Forget those idiots.  Idiots: Gaah!  Reading makes brain hurt!  Me smash stupid text thing! (Proceeds to throw feces at cage wall)

I will be Raka, age 81, Martian captain.  Having played a quintessential role in the wars against the Green Martians, Raka has established himself as a valuable asset, and has risen to a semi-important role in the Martian military force.  Recently, he has been summoned to take part in a special secret project, codenamed:  "Blue Star".  An expert pilot of the fighting machines, he cannot wait to set his vast intellect and cold precision to the job his government has set out for him.

He did not expect to be launched out of a hydrogen cannon.

((Can we NOT use C.S. Lewis's creatures?  The Silent Planet was a bit... too Narnia if you asked me.  It doesn't fit in with the Martians.  Also, I'm assuming we are using Edgar's The Princess of Mars civilizations (Hence the Green Martians).  That also makes the orange-people civilization (Can't rememeber the name) part of the story.  They had atmosphere factories and aetheric flyers.  Will this be included?))

On whose side are we playing?  What restrictions on alignment/ability to feel emotions are set on the Martians (Who discarded their previous genes for a more "superior" brain)?

What style is this game going to be?

What shall be determined as "canon"?  Will Ray Bradbury's martians also come into play?

As we are using several books of the time period, will "human" technology come into play?  Like the Time Machine (Of course, time travel is forbidden, but you know what I mean.)  or Aetheric traversers?  Will Newtonian portals be allowed?

Will current physics be modified to adapt to the many ideas of the authors who we are using?  What effect would the use of an aether have in the technology available to the player?

I would have went with a meta-game set-up.  The topic is very complex, and we don't want people following different interpretations of the various  civilizations we may come in contact with.  Or at least have a DnD approach.

Doesn't communism just make the government into one large corporation?  Like a megamonopoly?

How about we combine the works of H. G. Wells and other authors like in Scarlet Traces? Think about it! The Martian Overlords would be fighting against the Green Martians from Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom series and the sorns, hrossa and pfiltriggi from C.S. Lewis' Out of the Silent Planet, where they would be slowly losing the war, thus creating another need for invading Earth: Establishing an outpost on a better planet to outnumber the enemy! Then the Earth-Mars conflict would be moved to the Moon, where Selenites from H. G. Wells' The First Men in the Moon would join the war! And maybe there could be Venusians, too! They would be terrorists! It would be like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Volume 2, only way better! HYPE! HYPE! HYPE!

Geez, we'd better move this conversation to a new topic.

The slight problem being that, although most of those books (I haven't read all of them) are probably stunning examples of science fiction, it expands the amount of backstory that one must know.  Finding someone who has read Wells is like finding a needle in an incredibly illiterate haystack.

Finding someone who has read all the classic victorian science fiction authors is like finding a piece of hay in a haystack... of needles.

That being said, I am going to read up on my old-school scifi  8)

EDIT:  yeah, we should make a new topic elsewhere
