Hey guys!  Let's do a game/story where you give me suggestions for what our main character will do!  It'll be fun!  Also there may be poll sometimes.

Your name is Billy Neary, and after a lot of hard work, you've just moved in to your very own house!  Tired of noisy neighbors downtown, you've moved to a secluded spot in the woods on the outskirts of the suburbs.  It's a small two story house set in the side of a hill, with all the room an awesome bachelor such as yourself could need!

It's somewhere between Friday night and Saturday morning, and the last of your friends have left.  You were hosting a cheesy scary movie marathon on your stupidly large tv.  As dumb as the movies were, you still have thoughts of monsters and serial killers lingering in the back of your mind as you stare up at the ceiling in your bed, in your empty house, out in the woods somewhere, alone.  You laugh at yourself and finally start to drift to sleep, when you wake up again with a start.  There's a faint, strange light outside.  Maybe there was a full moon tonight?  Maybe you were asleep longer than you thought, and it's dawn?  You ignore it and roll over to go back to sleep, only to hear a loud thud of something falling to the floor downstairs.  Something's wrong down there.

What do you do?

Everything Else / Stranger in a Strange Store: Culinary Adventures
« on: December 12, 2011, 02:57:41 pm »
I came across a very silly article today.  It basically boils down to liberals eat like this, conservatives eat like this:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/will-the-2012-election-be-a-contest-of-whole-foods-vs-cracker-barrel-shoppers/2011/09/28/gIQAMuXDiO_story.html

We discussed the folly of this article in irc, and I remembered that there is both a Whole Foods and a Cracker Barrel within three miles of my apartment.  I've been to Cracker Barrel many times, and I've been to grocery stores like Whole Foods before, but never to the store itself.  In the spirit of political bridgebuilding, culinary factfinding, a dare from KrakowSam, and the fact that I'm bored as hell, I have decided to go on an adventure into the unknown that is Whole Foods.

I hope to return with photographic evidence.

Wish me luck.

Storytelling and Roleplaying / Dark Days: A Zombie RP
« on: August 13, 2011, 10:28:09 am »
It wasn't really clear when The Outbreak started.  It wasn't known who Patient Zero was, where they were, or what happened.  With the world falling apart, survival was more important to pretty much everyone left.

What was known was that it had been nearly a month since The Outbreak had hit Memphis.  The same thing happened there as pretty much every other city.  Law enforcement and emergency services dissapeared.  Power and communications went down.  Most of the population was infected, turned to shambling husks, wandering the streets.  But pockets of survivors remained, doing everything they could to make it through what seemed to be the end of the world.

The sun sank low over the Memphis skyline.  On the edge of downtown a loudspeaker system crackled to life.  A recording of bells echoed across the mostly empty college campus, announcing the time as three o'clock.

"Hello Memphis!"  A deep voice rumbled through the speakers.  "No, it ain't three o'clock.  Exact time doesn't matter much these days.  What does matter is that the sun's going down soon.  Thank the Lord for Memphis heat, even on the first of September it's so hot the even dead won't walk around.  But once it cools off those zombies are gonna start looking for fresh meat.  If you can hear my voice and need a safe place to spend the night, head for Harper Chapel in the middle of the University.  Zombies haven't gotten to us yet.  Get here quick as you can, follow the signs, and watch your step.  Keep safe out there!"

Everything Else / 2012 Elections
« on: May 16, 2011, 12:23:41 pm »
President Obama announced his candidacy weeks ago, and we've already had the first Republican candidates debate.  It is time.

This will be the thread for discussing all aspects of the 2012 elections, from state and local candidates flipping out and doing stupid things, to which Republican will lose to Obama.

Everything Else / Hey, you okay over there?
« on: March 10, 2011, 11:31:14 pm »
Every time there's a big natural disaster or other crazy stuff in an area where people on the forum live, I'm tempted to make this thread.  Let us know you're okay, and maybe give us a first hand account of whatever is happening.

A huge earthquake hit Japan a little while ago: 8.9 magnitude, 231 miles north of Tokyo.  I'm hearing they felt it in Tokyo, and there's a risk of a tsunami.

Hey Pixxel, you okay?

Movies / Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland
« on: March 04, 2010, 11:35:34 pm »
Just got back from the midnight showing.  I said I'd make a thread for the movie, so here we are.

I'm not really sure what I think.  The characters were all very well done, I will say that.  I was surprised that the movie actually wasn't as trippy as I expected.  It was more linear, more of a normal story's plot, than I thought it would be.  Maybe Burton toned it down for a PG movie.  Then again, there were some rather dark and violent scenes for PG.  I'd like to hear comments from someone who isn't rambling at 2:30 in the morning.

My very spoilerish opinion of the last scene in the movie: Alice goes to China because that's where the opium is.

Bonus Round comments on the trailers:  In the lull between two previews I leaned over to my friends and said "Is it me, or has 'knockoff of Harry Potter' become its own genre?"  A random stranger in the next row up said "You're absolutely right."  We all had a hearty chuckle, but were just a little bit sad on the inside.

Spore: Creation Corner / [NC] Tamarik Separatists
« on: July 07, 2009, 10:00:26 pm »
Wow, it's been a while since I've done the Creation Corner thing.  Let's get this show on the road.

Hopefully more pictures from me and others are on the way. (Hint Hint)

I wanted to get a thread up on these guys, but I don't feel like writing tonight. So for now here is a bare bones summary:

The Tamarik are originally from the old, main galaxy, and are a member race of the Fredonian Alliance.  (You can check the thread in my signature for more information, I'll pull out the relevant posts soon.)  Some of the Tamariks had a falling out with the Alliance and left FA space for parts unknown, winding up in the Novus Cluster.  They have set up shop on a planet or two, and are ready to start a new chapter in the history of their species.

More information is coming, including Biology, History, and Weapons and Vehicles.

We are just days away from Super Bowl 43.  Arizona Cardinals versus the Pittsburg Steelers.  Discuss the game, your picks, the commercials, whatever.

And if you aren't a fan of the NFL or Football in general, find another thread and let us have our fun.

Spore: General / Gamedaily's 10 favorite Disturbing Spore Creatures
« on: August 20, 2008, 07:41:48 am »
So I turn on my computer this morning and up pops the AIM home screen (yes, I still have AIM).  I usually close the window as soon as it opens, but the first screen has a Spore creature on it.  here's the article.

http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/galleries/our-10-favorite-disturbing-spore-creatures/?icid=aimDBDL2_image-a

Pretty dang boring, no new information, and a lot of the descriptions are bad.  But what was really interesting was creature number 8...

Everyone needs one of these threads to show off their creatures, right?  I guess I'm a bit slow to the party.

This is the very first idea I had for a Spore creature, the Chirtso.

And here it is in all it's Demo version glory!  I might redo it since I've had the full thing for a few weeks now.

EDIT: New and improved Chirtso

More to come, of course.
