Tricky Trivia

I will be updating this poll regularly with new questions. The questions can be about anything, and can be extremely difficult. However, you may use any means you want to find the answer, except by posting in this thread. In other words, you can look it up on the internet, a book, your teacher, doesn't matter. The only thing you can't do is; A: post an answer in here, B: tell someone to PM you because you have an answer. You can however say you have the answer. Feel free to post answer-free comments/suggestions about the game.

Commence!

Every correct vote is wirth 3 points, and every incorrect vote is worth -1 points.

Spore: Creation Corner / Fanfic Scale Thread
« on: April 28, 2006, 03:01:28 pm »
In this thread is a visual list of vehicles created by forum members, all to scale.

If you wish your creation to be added, simply PM me (or post at: Index - My New Creature and Vehicle Scales). If you want to add a vehicle or space station, give me a side view picture only (the larger the better, and the less noise in the backgroud, the better) along with the length (in metric units). I will then scale them appropriately.

Please post questions and comments at: Index - My New Creature and Vehicle Scales

Spore: Creation Corner / Coadunation of Autonomous Beings -- CAB
« on: April 19, 2006, 02:44:50 pm »
Coadunation of Autonomous Beings
Leadership: Equal representative Senate with autonomous system government (each race can keep their own governmet for their own system, but act together on foreign relations).

Flag:

Motto: Protection of life and freedom

Abbreviated CAB.

A confederacy of sentient beings to govern interstellar politics. Each race still holds laws for their own solar systems, but everything that takes them outside of that area is governed by CAB. The CAB govern things such as trade, war, and foreign relations with non-CAB members. Every member of CAB has it's own CAB embassy, with CAB headquarters being on Hagunda, the Oifan-Umtag homeworld. (I made it so I can put it where I want ;)) Some of the benefits of joining the CAB are: free interstellar trade between fellow members, freely shared technological advancements, military support, should one system come under attack, free elections with every system having equal representation, etc. Any race visiting another system under CAB jurisdiction must cohere with that systems own laws, except in realation to trade (whether it be goods or technology) or on the gounds of the embassy, which is under CAB jurisdiction, not the systems owner.

Members of the Coadunation of Autonomous Beings are:

Shock! :o

Okay, I can't help it, thought this would be a good place to put thing I draw that have nothing to do with the Oifan-Umtags.

Here is an Ubor:

The Ubori (plural form of Ubor) live on the planet Uboria. They have no bones, but instead have highly packed muscles which form a "core" in the center of the limbs and body. Each limb end in for digits. The front ones can be used to both manipulate and walk on. In the center of the four digits on both of the front limbs is a semi-retractable mouth. They have to slits (one behind each eye) and it is used for both breathing and communication. The two thing you see hanging done on it's face are it's ears. It is about the size of a Bengal tiger, only taller.

Edit:

Here are some other ones posted before:

Potump: (click to enlarge)

Somiodon: (click to enlarge)

It has no ears but a very good sense of touch, mainly through its feet. It communicates through vibrations it makes with its muscles, or stamping/tapping its feet, which are transfered through the ground. It has 2 eyes, very close together (in the same socket, essentially) and its vision is limited. It also doesn't really have a head, so its eyes are fixed foeward (though its eyes do have movement of their own). Its mouth is "jawless" and is serves basically the same function as a stomach, although it does have "teeth" which line its walls.

And:

Though theSina was orbiting the Stomiodon homeworld for only a short time, it both frightened and intrigued the primitive Stomiodon, still hunter-gatherers. The Stomiodon homeworld, Mawan, has no natural moons, so they were shocked and amazed when this giant sphere popped into the sky. They praised the gods that they had been given such a beautiful gift. They watched it, all through the night, even the children, as is slowly traced its way across the sky. So when it disappeared, they were deeply saddened. They cried out to the gods to let them have the beautiful "God's Eye," as they now called it, back. But it never came back. For years they yearned to get the God's Eye back. They were determined to reach out to the sky to find it. When they finally discovered space flight, a full 5,000 years later, most Stomiodons thought it was just a fantastic tale, that it was just something those ancient Stomiodons made up to explain the way the world works. But some still believed. Those are the ones that would search the galaxy for their long lost icon, the God's Eye.

Spore: Creation Corner / Oifan-Umtag
« on: March 18, 2006, 07:17:27 pm »
What is this? A mod making a creature thread?

Anyway, here is an Oifan (OY-fahn):

The Oifan's locomotion is similar to that of kangaroo. Their main head consists of two large forward facing eyes and two internal ears. This is also where their main brain is. Their two mouths branch off at the base of the main neck, creating two more necks, on for each mouth. Each of the secondary heads also houses a secondary brain and is where their nostrils are. Their two arms end in highly dexterous ape-like hands and that they knuckle-walk on when walking. Their thick tail is about the same length as the rest of the body. They are about 6 feet (2 meters) long from mouth to tail.

And here is an Umtag (OOM-tahg):

The Umtag have the same basic form except that they also grow a horn once they grow of reproducing age. Their secondary brains are also much smaller. They run and walk on all fours, and cannot use their front limbs to grasp anything. Instead, they use their two mouths. They stand about 4 feet (1.25 meters) tall at the shoulder.

How they relate:

The Oifan and Umtag are two genders of the same species. They have evolved to look very different from eachother. Once a year the Umtag seek out the Oifan. They each have a growth that forms below the eyes on the main head. That is what they call a "seed." The Oifan will dig a hole about a foot (.33 meters) across and deep. They each remove their seed (it comes off painlessly and leaves no scar) and place them in the hole (the Umtag's resting on top) and bury them. The two seeds then combine to form a new seed. This new seed grows into what looks like a plant. They call this plant the Egg Tree. The Oifan take care of this plant for a full year as it grow to form a single egg. Picture here:

By the end of the year an egg about 1 foot in diameter will have grown. The Umtag now come back and wait for the eggs to hatch. If the infant is an Oifan, it stays there to grow up with the Oifan. If it's an Umtag, it goes back with them. Pictures of an infant Oifan and Umtag:

The Oifan and Umtag are mostly monogamous.

They live on their planet, Hagunda (ha-goon-DAH), which in their language means "Incubator." Political map:

A time line map of the political history of Hagunda:

I have more, but I feel like taking a break, so feel free to ask questions.
