Console Games / Please help out a fellow gamer!
« on: December 04, 2005, 11:18:48 am »
Hi everyone! I have been looking for a Gamecube game called Cubivore for quite some time now but the game keeps eluding me. Could I ask a huge favor of the GamingSteve community? Could one of you please help me locate a copy of Cubivore for less than $50 US? I've been searching for quite a long time but I can't find a hard copy anywhere. Thank you!

Spore: General / Great End-of-the-World Scenario Site
« on: December 04, 2005, 06:02:02 am »

There is a few instances of vulgar language but I think that the sheer wealth of knowledge and mindtwisting scenario's more than make up for it.

Yes I am back to the forums and I should be around for some time.

Everything Else / So, I almost died, again (Now with pics)
« on: June 20, 2005, 04:51:54 pm »
It is a miracle that I am able to type this message to all of you. Yesterday I was driving my 2005 Scion tC back from San Antonio Texas when a truck in front of me swerved to miss a large dog was was in the road. He kicked the dog back into my car and as I swerved to miss it I ran it over and started fish-tailing out of control across the highway. I exited the road way and ran directly into 3 pine trees head first at 65mph. All I remember is seeing the trees and then kicking my door open so I could get away from the car. While I was in the ambulance the Sheriff came by and was asking where the body was....It is very unsettling to hear someone refer to you as dead. When he walked in and I asked him, " How's it goin' Sheriff?" He turned extremely white and said that he couldn't imagine anyone walking away from that crash. I was fully aware of everything that was going on and was able to answer their questions. I stayed in the hospital for 6 hours until I was released. My right hand was burned in a few small places from the airbag and of course I am stiff and sore, but otherwise I am fine. My car however, is completely totaled. The rear axle snapped like a twig from the front impact. My radiator bent like a U and from the front wheel wells up is ripped off of the car. I only had the car for 5 months. It was a gift to myself for surviving a long deployment to the Middle East. I just hope you all send whatever positive energy that you can in my direction. One of the scariest things about the crash is that the seatbelt snapped but it held long enough for the airbags to keep me safe. If I wasn't wearing my seatbelt I would've been decorating three tall pine trees like some gristly Christmas ornament. Also when I hit the trees, somehow I ended up about 20 feet away from them with my car facing th opposite direction. My battery flew across the highway and landed in the ditch on the opposite side of the road.... Please be safe out there everyone, please.

Everything Else / Name this song!
« on: June 09, 2005, 11:30:22 am »
Song Title and Artist if you please. It has to be one of the best songs ever.

A young cowboy named Billy Joe grew restless on the farm.
A boy filled with wanderlust who really meant no harm
He changed his clothes and shined his boots and combed his dark hair down
and his mother cried as he walked out
____ _____ ____ ____ __ ____.

He laughed and kissed his mom and said "Your Billy Joe's a man.
I can shoot as quick and straight as anybody can.
But I wouldn't shoot without a cause, I'd gun nobody down"
But she cried again as he rode away
____ _____ ____ ____ __ ____.

Everything Else / So, I almost died
« on: June 07, 2005, 10:07:19 am »
I just wanted to come here to let you all know that I almost died this weekend. On Friday we had a cookout to celebrate a co-workers going away and I ate 2 hamburgers. Saturday I went to Six Flags and became severely dehydrated and went to sleep. Sunday I woke up at 730pm and couldn't move, I was vomiting, dizzy, extremely sick. Monday morning I called my Supervisor and she took me to the hospital. I had 50/25 blood pressure and I had to have several bags of I.V. They really don't know what happened but it is assumed that I had food poisoning mixed with heat stroke. I'm telling everyone right now, always drink water and gatorade if you're going to be doing anything outside... I'm still pretty sick (vomitting and the like) but if you could please keep me in your thoughts.

Hey Steve, that's a pretty spiffy shirt you got on there. Could I buy one?

Books / John Connolly

I highly recommend any and all of his books to anyone that likes a good read. Has anyone ever read any of his novels? I bought "Bad Men" in an airport, started reading it on the plane, landed and went straight to a bookstore and bought all of his other books. This author is getting rave reviews everywhere.

Spore: General / Well Steve, the news killed the forum
« on: May 24, 2005, 12:19:03 pm »
... But I'm sure everyone is just out watching the video while I'm stuck at work waiting to go home. Come on everyone, tell me how amazing Spore is going to be with the newfound knowledge of the video!

Spore: General / Spore Spin-offs (Good or Bad)
« on: May 24, 2005, 07:54:25 am »
Every great game spawns at least 2 terrible spin-offs. From GTA we have True Crime and Driv3r. Halo has too many to count. Even Mario has Spin-offs like every other platformer known to mankind  ;D. My question is, what kind of spin-offs do you think Spore will spawn and will they be successful, or will they stink?

Anyone ever messed around with this? I bought the full version for the render engine and I can say that it is a great investment while waiting for Spore. It is pretty complicated but the gist of it is creating genomes and watching them evolve, hunt, fight, eat, mate, and survive. You can set parameters for the genomes to strive for and let the program evolve the lifeforms. It is really a great program and I highly recommend it to all of you. Please post any good genomes you may find!

Download it from this site.
