Everything Else / Violence in Video Games Documentary
« on: June 16, 2007, 08:16:10 am »
Cool documentary about why violent video games don't cause violence. http://www.teckh.com/?p=112

I like what he says at 8:58 seconds into the second part.

Anyway, I agree with what they're saying. Now this just needs to get onto TV...

I like the balloon popping ones best (and that one with the quarter and the milk).

There are multiple pages, btw.

PC Games / Spring!

Really fun game, you can zoom out a lot, sorta like supreme commander. If you're into strategy games, you'll love it. The learning curve isn't too steep, but it's hard to ever win. Well, for me, anyway. But I suck. The hardest thing is probably hosting a game, but you can always play a bot-game.

a few Mods/maps you should get
Balanced Annihilation (mod)
Absolute Annihilation (mod)
FinalFrontier v1.21 (mod)
Altored Divide (map)
Deepspace conflict V2 (map)
Tropical (map)
Banana Hill (map)

If you need help or want to schedule a game, say so here.

Also, if you've found a cool looking map or mod, tell us!

Edit: At A14's request, I'm gonna make a list of people who we know have this game.
just...mention in this thread if you have it.
1: Me (Gungnir)
2: A14gt
3: Celdur
4: Samog
5: Kratok
6: Flamester
7: Quizzle
8: Malt

The GS Channel is #afnc. type /j #afnc to join it. Also, when making games for GSers, generally the password is GS.....sorta figures.

Forum Games / The quote game!
« on: February 06, 2007, 05:08:26 pm »
The rules are easy.

1: In each post you have to quote the person above you.
2: The game ends once the "quote pyramid" sides touch. Then we start another one!
3: The discussion has to make some sense.

i will start the discussion..and it will start with..Romeo and Juliet! (topic can change..like normal conversations)

We're studying R&J in english, and i dislike it. 1: It gets boring. Dialogue is too drawn out, in my op, in a lot of places. In others, it's one line only. 2: My teacher sucks and doesn't know what she's talking about.
i take it that a lot of you have studied r&j, so what do you think about it? If you like it, then..how the hell do you decipher shakespear!?

Console Games / No donkey kong 64 sequel?
« on: January 10, 2007, 03:16:21 pm »
Donkey kong jungle beat doesn't count, by the way.

Anyway, I searched, and there isn't anything i could find in the forum about any news of sequel(s) to DK64. This was a really fun game, and I would expect there to be a sequel, or something of the sort. It probably couldn't really be a sequel..since rare is owned by microsoft (i think)...pity. But wasn't DK a nintendo product in the beginning?

This reminds me a lot of the so called "banjo-threeie"...:(

Music / Slipknot!
« on: November 23, 2006, 06:21:26 pm »
I decided to make a thread on slipknot, since I was listening to pulse of the maggots right now.

Anyway, sometimes some of the guitar just sucks...but the bass is pretty good, and the percussion is just...wow. The vocals, I think corey taylor does pretty well at times.
Oh, i also listen to Disturbed, SOAD, and Korn. David Draiman's a good vocalist...

Forum Games / The "Yuo tlak fnuny" thread. Incorrect Grammar version.
« on: November 12, 2006, 02:24:24 pm »
Basically the same principle...but with grammar. Use it as atrociously as possible, and if you want, make some spelling mistakes if you want. I'm honestly not good at this because grammar comes naturally to me, but you get the picture..I'll start off. Heh...i wonder what speaking in the wrong person would do....

Also, keep in mind, in English, all first person pronouns have to use shall in the future tense. Therefore "I will" is incorrect.

today, I camed home becuz i beend in some saxyphone leson. i doned good wtih it. But we duzn't got none of them trombones in our band.

PC Games / Half Life 2 (and mods/expansions)
« on: November 01, 2006, 03:44:21 pm »
yeah, i know, half life two has been out a long time. But i didn't find a thread purely about it and its mods, soo....

Anyway, i was debating whether or not to get it. I dloaded the demo, but that REALLY does not tell me much about it. So, I assumed a lot of the reviews are bloated, or are they? What's your opinion on this game, and is there any one (or two) mods that would make this game even more worth my time/money?

Personally, I'd get this game just for Garry's mod, from the reviews it got and pictures/videos/descriptions i've seen. And the physics engine...just wow.

Spore: General / Uses for procedural generation...
« on: August 24, 2006, 04:24:10 pm »
So, what uses can you imagine for procedural generation? Gaming, definately. this'll probably change everything about how people make characters in games. Movies, especially with aliens. This guy didn't just make a game, he made an INCREDIBLY useful tool, procedural generation, I mean.

Although I really dunno much about it technically. Does anyone here?

Site News / Virus in PM?
« on: August 19, 2006, 08:50:06 pm »
I woulda PMed this to Gaming Steve..but I don't have over 50 posts..

Anyway, I opened the pm, clicked on none of the links.
2 hours later...
Virus protection goes haywire, i restart comp, and it freezes whenever I log in.

I'm on my brothers computer right now. Think that this PM could be why I have a virus?
