Spore: General / Re: Warning: almost certainly wrong!

I think it's pretty sad that EA can't even have accurate information for the titles they are producing.  I'd be embarrassed if it were my company.  But..  that may just be me.

Spore: General / Re: Spore and Steam
« on: February 28, 2008, 08:08:46 am »
I will be buying the box for Spore.  I made the mistake of making some Sims 2 purchases thru the EA downloader, erroneously thinking I would be able to save the download for installing later (if needed, as sort of a back up.)  You can't.  I went thru a bad financial patch and had no internet for a few months recently, and wanted to re-install my Sims 2 stuff only to discover the saved downloads I had wouldn't install, because it couldn't connect to EA.

I don't know if that is the norm for download installers thru Steam or not...  but I will not ever buy thru the EA store that way again.

The only mention I've seen of the plant editor in a recent article was that it would be available to download sometime after release.

I've seen things similar.. but even then, it's all still been speculation...  People are assuming that there will be a multitude of possible editors released as "future expansions," etc.  The planet editor, star editor... things that would enable underwater life, or maybe even "real flight" ... (not the tab/space bar fluttering that has been reported.)

I've been away from the forums for a while, only coming back really after the *official release date* announcement.  So if something definite has been said, I may have very well missed it.  But, in the newer posts, as in from the last week or so... everything I have seen or read has still had much of this stuff as possibilities... or reinvigorated desires from the very (understandably) impatient Spore community (myself included.. ;) )

Spore: General / Re: Creature History?
« on: February 19, 2008, 03:26:07 pm »
In the recent interviews, Will keeps saying something about when you get to tribe, civ, space phases, it has a history of your creature's past. What could he mean by this? Just your different evolutions, or things that you did(make alliances, capture tribes, etc.)?

He meant it only in the sense that if you play the game chronologically, your creature has a history because you played it throught every stage of it's developement.  Also, creature history determines the playstyle and what types of strategic buildings you will get later on in the game.  For example:

If you played an herbivore in creature, in tribal you will have religious instruments.  Whereas if you were a carnivore, you will have access to aggressive instruments.  This also extends into civilization phase as well.

This is an example of how the "history" dictates the future path your creature will develop later on in the game.

I haven't paid much attention to the "story" aspect of the game... or the potential thereof.  But I have heard that you have the option of making Herbivore, Carnivore.. or Omnivore...  If that is the case, would it be so limited as to not give access to the "herbivores" a more aggressive approach than "religious" items?  I can see a PETA-ish race...  completely herbivorous, but very aggressive..  to exterminate the "evil" meat eaters...  lol

Could you post a source for the information on how items are accessed, by the creature classes, i.e., carnivore, herbivore, etc?

Ermmm.... that pic shows that(probably) the flora editor is still in the game. Why else would it be in the Sporepedia, saying it's created by someone?

if thats recent, then plant editor is in. either that or packs the team will release will contain plants, but im sure they have a plant editor, seeing as its less complex than the creature editor im sure

Or..  they could be buildings...  or something else entirely different than flora..  I mean.. there's a snowman building, and a Santa Sleigh UFO..

Peace
Ughhh.... I already explained this. It has a different ground(under the tree) than buildings, UFOs, and vehicles. Plant editor is still in and is unlocked with the UFO (emphasis mine).

Where was it that you explained it?  I looked through the last three pages of your posts...  and I didn't see anything about that.  Not to mention, last I read..  there is not an official statement that there would be a flora editor included the initial release of Spore.  To the bold text in your post, can you provide an official link stating this?

In my experience..  anything other than an official announcement is considered *speculation* until the game actually hits shelves...  no?

Spore: General / Re: system specs

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that if your computer can run WoW, it'll be able to run Spore too.  If you can play Company of Heroes or Bioshock without coming to a screaming halt, your system will be able to play Spore quite well, if not totally maxed out.  And if you can play Crysis on Medium or better, then you can't play Spore at all because I'm coming to your house to steal your computer.

Company of Heroes?  Do you mean City of Heroes, or is there another game out there I am unaware of?

Well..  for what it's worth...

I was watching G4 the other night, and one of the commentators said..  and I use the words she used...

"Spore's release has been pushed back..  indefinitely..."

She actually said that..  indefinitely....

That doesn't bode well...

Peace?

Yup...  Have to agree with those posting... I would definitely download... then buy the full version when it was released.

I have sooo many questions that I want answers too.  None of which will be answered until we can get the game in our sweaty lil hands.

System specs aren't really a concern for me, if all the available info is accurate...  but there are construction issues I want to know the answers too, starting questions surrounding habitat...  etc...  and I, too, have been waiting years...  I couldn't resist the temptation, and most likely wouldn't even try to do so.

Spore: General / Re: Artifacts

I think it would be al kind of things. Like better weapons, better scanners, terra forming equipment, 'easter eggs', parts for your creature (to make them go android), information about other galaxies (that the artifact is something like: If you find this come visit us) etc...
...You CANT visit other galaxys.... If anything, it would be planets!

Are you sure about that?  I seem to recall a video demo that Will had done that showed multiple Galaxies.  I, of course, can't find it now...  but I do remember seeing him do so.

A friend showed me a written article in a magazine going on two years ago...  I was interested in it then, but totally forgot about it until E3 this year.   Revamped my interest, and now I am anxiously waiting on its release..  like everyone else.   :D

Listen here how the hell do you even know what im going to ask.

And annoy him you say .... maybe 3 questions is not bad at all so chill out.

I just want to know how peple know his email.

Well, according to the member list.. there are currently 2089 members here..  if each and every one of us sent an email and asked three questions..  that'd be 6,267 questions.  Don't you think he has more to do than answer all those?

Perspective man...  perspective.
