PC Games / EverQuest II Anyone?
« on: July 22, 2006, 09:09:11 pm »
After trying all the other MMORPGs I figured I had to give EQ2 a try, especially after they revamped the entire game. Plus I've heard from a lot of my friends that EQ2 has gotten a lot better since the original launch so I gave it a try.

Well after playing it for around a week I have to say that I am really surprised ... EQ2 is quite good. Perhaps almost ... almost as good as WoW in many ways (not quite but still very good). I will probably go into more detail in my next podcast, but I am really surprised by the immense scope of EQ2 and how easy it is to solo play. Again, I'll go into more detail on the next podcast but I'm really surprised that EQ2 hasn't gotten more press since they revamped the game.

So does anyone else play EQ2 out there? If so, what server are you on and what are your character names?

Spore: Creation Corner / Gaming Steve's First Creature
« on: June 19, 2006, 06:30:06 am »
Here is a picture of the creature I created at E3 during my private demo. Yeah, it's not the prettiest creature around, but I was actually trying to "use" as many elements on the creature as possible just to see how they worked rather than create a "useful" creature (so he ended up with a weird hammer on his back). I do like his hands which animated just like Mr. Burn's hands from The Simpsons!

Ask me any questions you might have about the creature but he actually animated really well. I was super impressed with him. I wonder if he might show up in the final game...

Spore: General / Gaming Steve's Spore Notes from GDC
« on: March 23, 2006, 11:34:47 pm »
Hey all!

Okay. So much to tell, not enough time! A very quick rundown:

1) I saw all four talks today and there wasn't a huge amount of new things discussed publically, but I still got a fair amount of information just talking with various devs at the show. So stay tuned for more information.

2) The PowerPoint slide presentations are not the final presentations. I saw several key slides missing from Caryl's presentation, but I'll go over those in the podcast show (and post them as well).

3) I have more pictures and videos from GDC and I'll post them as I get them cleaned up a bit. Also it appears that most of these photos have been posted on various sites today, so I'll try to just post all the new stuff for you all.

4) All the devs said that they actively read the forums and really value everyone's opinion ... so keep it up!

5) I have lots more information that should keep us all busy for weeks to come!!! ;D

So look for more pictures, videos, and comments over the next few weeks! Lots of new Spore stuff!

Spore: General / Spore NOT confirmed for mobile devices in 2006
« on: March 21, 2006, 09:01:26 pm »
I just got off the phone with EA and it appears that Spore has not been confirmed for mobile devices in 2006. Repeat, it has not been confirmed.

Although it was strongly implied by Mitch Laskey's GDC Mobile's keynote address yesterday that Spore would be distributed in 2006 for mobile devices, it turns out that the slide containing this information was a bit misleading and the 2006 date is in no way a confirmation of Spore's launch date.

Unfortunately I while I was talking to EA I was not able to get a revised date, just that there was no confirmation as of yet for the release date of Spore. I guess we'll still be guessing as to the official release date as of now, however the recent article in Wired Magazine about Will Wright did mention that Spore will be released in 2007! Yikes! Stay tuned...

Spore: General / Time to Sub-divide the Spore Forum!
« on: March 14, 2006, 08:37:30 pm »
Hey all. Since this forum is quickly getting a bit out of hand (which is a "good problem" to have) I am going to sub-divide the forum into 3-4 sections. I will be doing this within a few days, before GDC gets fully underway next Wednesday.

With that in mind I am curious to hear what sections you think would work best. However something to keep in mind is that I would like these sub-sections need to work both before and after the game is released. Hence, a sub-section named "What you want to see in the game" (or something similar) wouldn't cut the mustard.

So please let me know what sub-sections you think should be listed. Please only post constructively on this topic and try to put some serious thought into this as I do not want to create a "wasted" sub-section.

FYI right now I believe we will need a "Spore General" section as well as a "Spore Creations" section where people can talk about their creatures, buildings, worlds, etc. As for the other 1-2 sections ... not really sure. Let me know what you think, thanks!

« on: February 24, 2006, 06:36:52 am »
Hey all, I'm trying to get an idea of what podcast aggregator program you use. Or, in simple English, what program do you use to download and listen to the show? Some examples include iTunes, Juice, Doppler, and so forth.

If as many people as possible could answer I would really appreciate it, thanks!
