Hey, Shogun Total War had amazing graphics for its time.  :P

Yeah, I agree. Luke Skywalker and all of his whiny lines got taken out by Anakin's skillful whining. Episode II was 98% Anakin whine, 2% story.

They've already said that they haven't fixed the button problem (if you're talking about the square button being slightly less responsive). They consciously made the design choice because they were running out of space, and they said they'd make the decision again. Its not even really a problem. This topic has already been discussed for the PSP US release. It was even a subject on Penny-Arcade and like nine other gaming webcomics mocking Sony for making an intentional flaw into the system.

Well thats how Nintendo is going to compete with the PSP. They've held these titles back until the fabled March/April release date, so people will go to buy the PSP then be like "ANIMAL CROSSING DS?! OMG. I'M BUYING DS INSTEAD!" It'll be good times.

No. You just have to learn to hit the square button a little more forcefully. Not barely tap it like a three year old child.

Just send your archers to melee with the other guy's infantry. He'll get so disgusted with how bad a player you are he'll probably give up in search of better opponents. Easy victory!

I can see people making a gigantic fat creature with eighty mouths and two stubby little wings then complaining about how it should be able to fly.

It was SimEarth. And it wasn't that bad a game. :P

I'm going to say that another 12 months from the GDC is realistic. Not two years. They're going to lose a lot of the initial excitement if they wait two years.

Yeah, that makes sense. You just have to spur your civilization on to greater research, then its all loaded up onto the UFO.

Well I just wonder how you advance once you have the UFO. Is there a little research screen? Because on the Podcast he said Wright said something like, "Well at this stage...I have another weapon developed thats better than those other weapons I was using." Then he blew up the planet. So do you do all kinds of research in the UFO?

Console Games / Re: GAMECUBE SUCKS
« on: March 18, 2005, 07:38:22 am »
The dislike of the Gamecube really originally stems from comments made by Nintendo before it was released. Nintendo acknowledged that the Gamecube wasn't going to have the raw power of the PS2 and X-Box, but they revealed that their strategy didn't involve having a huge ultra-powerful system, and that good gaming could be made with something less powerful. Gamers at the E3 heard that and in their dorkface minds they thought, "This is stupid. Power is everything in video games." So they immediately got this thought that Nintendo was saying that the Gamecube was underpowered and would have no good games compared to its "bigger brothers". So that went around a lot in the console wars before the GC's release. Everybody got it in their head. The rest is history.

I love games like these for the random/skirmish battles.  :D So fun to pummel the AI or your friends.

The Gamecube isn't the DS. Thats for sure. So you really can't compare the great games for the Gamecube  to the crappy games for the DS until a Zelda game or an Animal Crossing or Smash Brothers game comes out on the DS.

The DS has a total of 15 games out since it launched last year and none of them has won any awards.
The PSP is going to launch with 24 games, and Lumines has already won Gamespot's Editor's Choice Award.
