Hmmm, another thing I just noticed after re-reading the article, is that it said you may have to compete against another tribe of your same species...interesting, although I was hoping I wouldn't have to kill of my own little creations  :'(

You may not have to.  It says you can assimilate other tribes if you have enough culture.

Stargate:  The alliance

Spore: General / Re: Do we really need another Sim game?

This is a joke right?  Do you realize how ambitious and original this game is?  The game spans the entire history of a species.  Not just any species, but your own species that you build.  You can evolve to them point where you can build spaceships and go literally anywhere in the games universe (which i'm assuming is beyond huge).

Aside from all of that, the way this game is being devoloped is groundbreaking.  The game is being done with no pre-created animations.  They have no animators.  Its all done through code / mathematics.  I'm assuming it cuts the budget for making the game dramatically and also gives the game a lot more variety. Not only that, but it allows us them to have these creatures in an insanely small amount of data.

Common man, an fps?  That whole genre is done to death.  This is actually original and unique.

I'd rather them release a great game in a year or two from now compared to them releasing a game not done in 6-7 months..
