Spore: Roleplaying and Story Games / Re: A Map of the Galaxy

how does anyone know how life starts (scientifically) ?

we dont know, so anything goes.

Well, there are theories ya know.  And if you can come up with a logical theory on how life can come about in the center of giant party of radiation then I'm all for it!

Look, what does radiation do?  It messes with things at a subatomic level, what mutation other than something like lead-plating is going to make something immune to radiation?  AND if there's that much radiation to begin with how can you expect life to even come about, much less live long enough to build up an  immunity to it over millenia of evolution?

HYDRO I LOVE YOU!  The anomalocaris is my favorite prehistoric creature EVER!  And that is so obviously based off of it, good stuff!  I think I'll actually read your post now, heh.

yah, you may know this or not but that creature editor isn't any version of the one used in spore.  It was made by someone else who, like us, can't wait for spore.  You can download the program somewhere, but I think I lost the link so google it!

AHWWW S**T! I already planned a tree that spreads It's seeds by blowing up the bulb at the top...from the very start :'(

Cool drawing man, really

No, the exploding bulb idea is still yours.  If you reread the description it says that the small green buds(the little specks on the trunk of the ulbaw tree) are what pop open to send seeds flying.

Hey thanks for all the comments guys!  Glad you liked em, now for a slightly less exciting update: foliage!

1 Ulbaw Tree:  Dominating most of the forests this tree is anchored in place by a bulb-like underground structure as large as the bulbous end above ground.  It goes through a 2-part cycle; in the first it gathers massive amounts of nutrients into it's upper bulb for up to 4 years and then has 1 year of constant blooming where it's small green buds burst open and send seeds flying so fast they've blinded more than a few helpess sperks.
2 Swyral Flower:  A rare flower that lives only to bloom once before it releases it's seeds, the swyral flower is one of the favorite snacks for lucky herds of hoshern.
3 Bolular Tree:  Found only in the tropic regions the bolular tree blooms in much the same way as the swyral flower but will bloom multiple times.  The large hollow areas are often home to small critters who in return, fight off other creatures who would harm the bolular tree.
4 Sperkberry Plant:  The sperkberry plant's lot in life is to feed the mass population of sperks, and the sperks love the berries.  The seeds inside do not get digested though, the sperks usually excrete them with a nice amount of fertilizer, spreading the sperkberry plants wherever they go.  The plant has evolved the spikes to prevent animals like the hoshern from eating the berries and digesting the seeds within.
5 Flagreaf:  The most common plant on Omni Vita 3, it is found all across the landscape in a variety of subspecies.  The plant usually never grows above one foot tall and is great at absorbing sun beams through it's flat, horizontal and circular leaves.  It's the main food source of most of the grazing animals.

**I promise to make the next update something more exciting than plants, probably more creatures or maybe some technology.  idk yet**

You can place objects anywhere. If you noticed Robin Williams put a nose on the big nose.

So I would do it like this...

Note that the trunk in the Robin Willians video drooped flat while the tentacles in the editor had actually bone parts inside when you used them. Like elbow joints but many many of them.

Of course if i can pull out the spine at 2 points then i will do that instead. But one arm with one join connecting should allow for the illusion of a bottom jaw that moves up and down while the top jaw will be static. Of course i could do it the opposite with if i wanted with the spine pulled out and ad the arm on the top. But the way i have the Nauceans that top jaw is static anyways.

For the bottom jaw, using an arm seems like the best idea but what about covering up the sides of the real beak?  What if you used some fin-like parts and placed them on the sides of the arms and angled them upwards to at least partially cover the beak.  Think that would work?

wooooow, sweet stuff!  Much more on the "realistic" end of the spectrum, they'll probly be way more cartoony in spore.  You have some great skill, did you go to art college?

In an unusually large and life-filled solar system called Omni Vita, on the third(out of 32) planet from the central sun there is a plethora of amazing creatures...

1. Sperk:  A small omnivorous creature that seems to have the bare minimum of everything; one eye, one ear, one feather and one pair of legs.  It makes up the bottom of the food chain and is the number one consumed organism on Omni Vita 3, good thing too since it's estimated that 500 sperks hatch every half hour.
2. Hoshern:  A medium sized herbivore that packs quite a punch.  The hoshern is a herding creature and is qutie good at defending itself with its large array of spikes atop its head.
3. Gulbar:  The most unevolved piece of slime to ever make it past the 5 minute mark in all of evolution's history.  The Gulbar has remained in the same basic form ever since it crawled forth from the primordial ooze 2.8 billion years ago and somehow it hasn't died off yet.  Its continued existence is most likely due to its main source of food, the massively reproductive sperk.
4. Shornador:  On of the most intelligent creatures of Omni Vita 3, shornadors are very social creatures and eat mostly leaves and the occasional aquatic creature or pathetic gulbar.  They have the most advanced eyes and can see really really far away which is what keeps them from being easy prey, well that and the giant spiked tail and talons.
5. Flobbaron:  As opposed to shornadors, the flobbaron is probably one of the dumbest creatures of Omni Vita 3.  It may have more eyes than the shornador but it hasn't quite figured out how to focus them all on the same thing yet, making it very flighty, fidgety and prone to fits of ADD.  Though it may be pretty dense it is one of the big hunters due to its astronomical running speed and the super sharp talon hanging from under its mouth.

Hopefully these are better than the last batch. yah p-luke you were right, the last batch wasn't quite to up to par.  What do you guys think?

1.) I can't read whatever is next to that dot, use jpeg not gif
2.) People have tried doing this sooooooooo many times before and it never ends up working, its a great idea but everyone's races already established and it's a little hard to get everyone to pick locations that work and then there's the problem with boundaries.  I think this would've worked if we had established an RP galaxy at the very beginning.
3.) I am in no way trying to tell you this is dumb, on the contrary, I always wanted the RP locations to be on a map BUT I am saying that I don't think this will fly due to prior attempts.

Holy Moly, it's been waaaaaaaaaaay too long!  After watching all the new spore videos I got all tingly with girlish gitty excitement again and doodled a dangerous duo.  Ok, not so dangerous but they are some cool little creatures if I do say so myself:

The one on the left is what I call a Gargalor, cuz it has not muscles to pull food down it's throat it must keep it's neck straight-up and chew thoroughly so all the food slides down smoothly.  The guy on the right, well, just don't pet him.

I have this idea for another thread that's specifically for creatures that are based off of the parts you see in the creature editor pics and made to appear as if you could actually make them for-sure once Spore comes out.  I notice alot of creatures around here and alot of them seem like they won't be quite the same or possible(cough*Naucean*cough:  No offense Hydro, your Nauceans kinda started it all and I love em) with the creature editor.

Whaddya all think?

If you're looking for a kick-A computer that will be reliable and powerful try out Falcon Northwest:  I've always wanted one of them and I've heard a few times that they're better than Alienware.  Idk about price tho.
