Spore: General / Re: Promblems Since Patch
« on: October 04, 2008, 12:22:48 pm »
Right click your Spore Icon on your desktop and copy and paste it into a new shortcut. Right click the new icon and go to Properties. You should see a line like this:
"D:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Sporebin\SporeApp.exe" -locale:en-us
Try adding -jobPriority:0 to the end so it looks like this:
"D:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Sporebin\SporeApp.exe" -locale:en-us -jobPriority:0

Of course you should only have -locale:en-us if you are in the US. It will be different for different countries.
I was having similar problems with graphics and sound lag with the new patch and the -jobPriority:0 fixed it for me. It actually plays better than it did before the patch.

Try adding the -locale:en-us to your line and see if it loads the game in English for you.

I actually paid an Empire a Tribute once and then they immediately popped another message up saying they were going to war with me for not paying them, when I just HAD paid them. Lol!

Spore: General / Re: Homeworld spice colors?
« on: September 22, 2008, 10:54:06 pm »
All my home planets all have red spice. I have had a strange thing happen though. Sometimes when I go to one of my home worlds to collect the red spice, they will give me a few pieces of blue spice with my red spice. Anyone else had this happen? I wonder if it's a bug or maybe they found a rare bit of blue spice or something.

I had to un-install the game and re-install it so I could play. The patch really messed the game up for me. I guess I'll wait for a new patch and see how it turns out for people that try it.

Spore: General / Re: Anyone Make Spore Music?

Can't you just save the .png file in your CityMusic folder under your MySporeCreations folder? You know, the folder under MyDocuments.
I would think that would work.
Thanks for all the music, I'll check it out when I get a chance. I couldn't make heads nor tales out of the music editor, since I am no good at music, but I do appreciate the work you all are doing.

Spore: General / Re: IDEA: A 4th Game Setting - "Sandbox"
« on: September 16, 2008, 08:24:08 pm »
You know, I have never really used any of the planet creation tools to customize the look of the planets. I don't have the time. By the time I raise a planet up a T level, I have to go fight some Aliens or fix a planet from eco disaster or something. I would love a sandbox mode with all the creation tools unlocked so I can sculpt and play around with planets and not have to be worried every 5 minutes with having to fight or to fix a planet.

Still, my question is, How do you know it patched? Were you looking at files and noticed new dates or what? How could you tell something was changed? I haven't noticed any differences in my game.

How do you know it patched? I never saw a message or anything telling me there was a patch.

Spore: General / Re: Plant editor
« on: September 10, 2008, 12:08:03 am »
I really hope they bring out that plant editor soon, cause really 51 tree's/plants/shrubs each isn't enough for one galaxy. :(
Actually, there are over 3000 different tree's/plants/shrubs in the game. Caryl Shaw showed us that at the Spore Community Day when she gave us a demo.

Ok, I AM playing on easy and I am having the same problem as Arachoid. I played a completely peaceful race all the way to Space. Once there I have aliens that wanted me to pay them credits for entering their space. I didn't have the large amount they demanded, so they declared war on me. All I do now is go from world to world defending my colonies and home world. Why is it that some people seem to not have this problem and others do? I want to explore space and scan new life forms. I can't do that for all the freaking Aliens that want me dead all because I flew into their space and didn't pay them credits. That's just crazy. Also, it's not just one race, it is 3 different races now. All of them wanted credits I did not have. I finally was able to save up enough to pay off one alien. He ended the war and I took a mission from him. I fly to the system the mission is in and then this same alien race decides he wants more credits that I didn't have because I just gave it all to him, now the war is back on and starts attacking me. Sheesh! I would hate to play Hard if easy is this difficult.

Spore: General / Re: Is it possible to vist your own games?
« on: September 06, 2008, 11:10:46 pm »
Is it possible to visit your own planets where you raised your chreatures and played throught the whole game with them, with your space ship from another one of your planets?
Yes you can. You can even destroy their planet and it will erase the save game for that planet. Caryl Shaw told us this at the Spore Community Day.

My Walmarts are stupid! The girl at the counter said she couldn't look for Spore. Only the Manager of the electronics department could and she wouldn't be in until 7am. What a bunch of Bull! I have bought stuff there at midnight before. She even asked someone else and they said the same thing. I think they just didn't want to go look for it. I had her call another store and she said they told her the same thing. I have never heard of that before. They lost at least 6 sales, because there were 5 other guys there besides me looking for Spore.
Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait until Noon to pick up my Galactic Edition I pre-ordered from Gamestop. I was hoping to play it tonight.

Excellent find if it is truly him!  How did you come across this?
It is him, only Maxis employee's can use Maxis in their names.

You cannot turn it off... but we may look into a way to manage the views better if it turns out to be unmanageable/annoying.

I personally like having my whole lineage viewable.  And from the Dev side - we need the whole lineage on the server in order to populate other people's games adequately.

Hiya Caryl,
Is there a way to make it where users can turn off creatures from their Sporepedia page? Say have an option like a check box you can select on a creature so that it doesn't display on their My Spore Page, even though it is still on the server? Of course we would have to select every creature and check the box, but it might be worth it to some to keep their pages from displaying everything they make.
