Spore: General / No Use for Clothes? Psssh! (Post Your Creature Fashions!!)

I wish there were MORE clothing options!  Check out my turtle race and note that everything including the 'shell' is clothing!  I LOL every time I see them in their colonial garb. :P

This is the closest to fully clothed I have gotten anything, so what about the rest of you?  Anyone making full use of the clothing editor yet?

Spore: General / How Do I Rotate Feet?

I know it is in another thread...I replied there and got no answer so I will do so here again.

I hold tab and get no blue rings...what am I doing wrong?  Apparently it is possible and easy but I am missing something.  Any help would be great guys!

Spore: General / Level of Detail Differs Drastically From Creature to Tribe and Beyond?

Let me start with: I am not complaining.

Now that that is out of the way...is it just me or is there a drastic difference in the detail level between the Creature phase and the rest?  What I mean is that you cannot ever zoom in enough to get back to that detailed view of the world you have as a creature with the blurry distant structures, pollen in the air, trees with light streaming through the canopy...

Eample 1:


Note that in this example from the creature phase you have ground foliage and the gas giant is not completely visible due to the light of the sun through the atmosphere...

Example 2:



In this next example from the Creature phase we can again see both the moon of my home planet and the gas giant just above.  Due to the atmosphere they are hazy and details are not as clear...

Example 3:



In this example form the Civ phase we can clearly see the gas giant in all its glory.  Beautiful in its own right, but I could not get the old view no mater how much I zoomed into the surface...

Example 4:



For the final example, something simple: vehicles on the ground zoomed into.  Where is the foliage from the prior stages?  Where is the atmospheric effects?  Again it is great looking but not the same.


Now I have not spent much time experimenting so perhaps I am just not trying hard enough, but since I am at work and the idea just hit me, I thought I would bounce it off the forum! ;)

Spore: General / What if you installed Spore and DID NOT Uninstall the CC??

Just dawned on me that on my Mac I did not uninstall the CC when I installed Spore and I have that free paint black screen bug.  Reinstalling Spore now to see if it fixes...hope I don't loose my saves. :(

Anyone else manage to mess up like this?

Spore: General / Is it Possible to Move Your Game From One System to Another??

Wondering if it is possible, as far as anyone knows, to take your saved games from one computer in your home to another?  Say most of the week you played on your desktop and now you are jumping to your portable?

I know that just logging in does not bring the content (The saved games) over so does anyone know of another way.

Spore: General / Black Screen in Custom Paint Editor iMac FIXED!!!

Just wondering if I am alone...

In the Vehicle and Building editor when I choose the paint option (Not sure what it is called but it has either a paint brush or paint bucket icon) to choose what parts are painted on an object my object to the right becomes a black screen.

Is this an error in the game?  I have no graphic issues or bugs in the game that I have seen...so is this happening to others as well?

Thanks, oh and the first two paint options work, just not that third 'free mode' one. :P

Spore: General / Post Your In Game Graphic Settings!!

Thought it would be useful for everyone to share what their settings are on, both to stroke and repair egos as well as ensure everyone has a smooth experience without ganking their eye candy.

My settings are all medium with the exception of creature and overall textures, which are on high.  My resolution is set to 1600x1000 (i think that is the setting) and I don't mess with graphic cache since I dunno what that does!

Overall the game only has some slow frame-rate issues in the beginning of cell and when there is a lot going on, but it is not too bad.  Unfortunately since the game does not include the option to force v-sync and Macs don't allow you to mess with the graphics card, I do get tearing but i am learning to ignore it.

What about the rest of you?  What are YOUR settings?

Feel free to include screens if you really need to show off as well! :P

Just wondering since this is one of the things I have looked forward to most...I really hope Maxis does the 3-D Print option.  I would pay $15 to $20 for a model.

Hell if they charged $35 - $40, it would suck, but I would still buy at least one. :P


Oh well, if anyone can site some good solid info on this I would apriciate it!

Spore: General / Sporepedia: 10.1 Million and Counting... (As of 4:12 PM EST on 9/9/08)

So the Sporepedia is at 5.2 Million right now with 1,029,851   creations uploaded in last 24 hours...

...and it goes on sale in the US tomorrow.

That means one of the larger markets is not even contributing to it!  So how long till we hit 10 million, 50 million, 100 million...

1 billion.  :o

Any ideas?

Anyone else have this issue?  I swear I have uploaded my Cimchomp gif like a hundred times and it changes at random!  After I upload a new creature, sometimes after I VIEW one of my other ones online...or just when it apparently feels like it. :(
