Hasn't Will Wright already said that they will be able to use sporepedia as a (online?) trading card game... hasnt anyone watched any of the new spore demos? Doesnt he say this in at least one of them? Apologys if im wrong.

Edit: Yes, here:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5242737927902093722

go to 13 and 1/2 minutes in, he sais "You can also take this out into a real card game that somebody would be able to play with real cards..."

I think he also talks about this in a few other demos as well as (I think) his GDC 2006 speech

*Slowly raises hand shamfully*

It was I who created the Will Wright "um" video... I didnt put it up on the internet though, I sent it to Hydromancerx and... things happened from there (not that I dissaprove ;D).
Yeah, this was just a joke, made out of pure bordom and lazyness (which is also why I didnt put any effort into it). I obviously respect Will, but I just figured that a video like that /had/ to be made. As someone mentioned.... a musical remix would be incredibly ownage, and I do happen to have some musical "talent". I might just be bored enough to do it.

Spore: General / Re: The SSSR.

[rant]Whoever started this so called SSSR should be hit over the head a heavy blunt object! Seriously, web consperiacies (or AKA viral marketing) are digital attention wh*res; its an advertisment trying to be cool.... goddamn I hate them. They literaly make me depressed...[/rant]

I suppose it would be possible to make a good viral marketing thing... but it would have to be way less confusing then what has been done before.

Edit: Im glad this isnt any sort of fan-made viral marketing... very glad. Sorry about that burst of rantness... I just really hate those viral marketing things; having been recently pissed off by one...

Yeah, sorry about that whole... being hit over the head with a blunt object thing too...  :-\ heh

This is how it probably works (and im sure Will has said something along these lines somewhere sometime):
A creature will probably only be uploaded after the user is done evolving it. (Completed the creature stage)

I say this, because the whole creature evolution stage wont probably take an incredible amount of time.

Im probably just incredibly stupid, but I can't seem to find where the video is.

Edit: Nevermind, found it. click the MTV Overdrive thing, and then click the "games" section. Second video down.

Yeah, there /is/ an option for symmetry. Its just the method the guy happened to be using.

Theres a demo out for anyone wanting to try it out.

http://pixologic.com/order/demoselect.html

But no seriously, the interface is /really/ confusing untill you read some sort of manual or something. I mean, the interface is really clean and neat... but you have no idea what anything does or how to do anything.

The full version of the program is only $500! I say only because it really is damn cheap for a 3D modeling program

Zbrush is, simply put, the Spore creature creator tool; for the big boys. Once someone learns how to use the program, which is pretty damn complex (ive seen it in action), it  becomes thousands of times easyer then trying to model a creature then other software packages would let you.

For example, instead of having to select and move verticies, etc, you can literaly deform the skin of a creature using /paintbrushes/, you can select spots on the skin, and extrude, etc. Follow this link for a video demonstrating this sort of stuff:

http://pixologic.com/zbrush/media_links/angler_movie_show.html

Basicly, the most complecated part of the program is navigating the menues and knowing what everything does and where everything is. Its more complicated then how it looks. But like I said, once you master the complexities of the program, it really looks like modeling a creature becomes almost as easy as building a creature in the Spore creature editor.

I was actualy thinking of making a post about ZBrush myself

Spore: General / Re: EVOLVE! Game. (My own creation)

Ah yeah.... I just found what causes that NrKy. Every time you press the backspace key, you loose a turn. I put this in so that you could skip your turns and go to the score screen.... I shouldnt of used the backspace key though XD.

Just dont use the backspace key, just select the number and type in a new one.

Looking at some of the code, I realise that I put a bit of thought into a bunch of stuff, like every time you gain a total of 5 a/d/h, it takes up a turn.

"Battle points" at the score screen is basicly:
all the damage you have done, minus all the damage you have been hit. Every time you kill a guy you gain 10 points, everytime you die you loose 10.

Wether or not these actualy make sense gameplay wise, I have no idea XD.

I also noticed that once you start fighting monsters with a higher speed, the red flicker that pops up every time you get hurt, could probably cause some seizures XD!

I guess ive thought about it, but Its not something I want to do.

Spore is going to be released.... dare I say... soon. Why spend a ton of time on a primitive version of only a part of Spore? Let Spore be created. Spore Is being made already... using an analogy: so people like me can stop building toy spaceships; and step back and watch the masters build the real thing. And then mabye aspire to build our own new creations.

*Slaps self in face*

Sorry about that, Im tired, and I get all philosiphical (insane) when I'm tired.

But I think I got what I meant in there somewhere....

Thanks.
When I was making it, I was thinking about implementing another part of the game where you would actualy move around your creature via a Top-Down view, and you would come across different eneimies and stuff, but I figured it wasnt worth the effort.

Catnip, Ive played that BBC game, but not Plankton-Life. Yeah, pretty fun for a while.

 E3 2K6 Gameplay 2

Theres a new video up on gametrailers.
Its the same stuff from the GDC 2005 confereance, just clearer.
I am aware that a even higher-res version of this video is in the 1UP video, but this shows a bit more gameplay then the 1UP show did.
