my reaction to this is...duh
hype doesnt happen by accident - it is clever PR
fanboys dont create it, they merely give it more momentum
and thats not cynicism - i see hype-creation as a very skilful task, not everyone can do it
for example take developers with a history of creating great games
Hype Successes = Elder scrolls Oblivion, Battlefield 2, Halflife 2,
PR Failures = Deus Ex-Invisible War, Silent Hunter 3,Civ 4

you all realise that we won't get a huge amount out of the GDC - its a private inhouse thing only
i'm not getting my hopes up - i'd imagine the day will be dominated by Sony and Nintendo news

one thing is for sure - this game has caused more creativity in a few months than a decades worth of previous games  ;)

You'll find that alot of first person shooter only fans (such as myself) are wetting themselves over spore because it is so innovative and it is largely own to the facy that yuou can never really pigeon hole anyone as long as they are willing to accept change
RTS gamers may feel that spore is theirs but FPS gamers will see the game as the one they have been waiting their entire lives for

great article - especially interesting from a commercial perspective and not a gamer's
I might quote it in my uni exams...

Spore: General / Re: if spore was multiplayer...

you'd have to rethink completely the dynamics of multiplayer so that it wasnt chaos incarnate
limited coop gameplay is probably all that we'll ever see - the thought of millions of planets on one massively multiplayer server hurts my brain  8)

I'd prefer if it was kept natural to begin with and only at the UFO stage would you begin to see telekinesis etc. if at all
The game is after all meant to be educational  ;D

Made me more optimistic  ;D
I might finally have a good reason to stop playing first person shooters - 2007 seems awfully far away  :)
