And apparently, 1.0 has now just launched.  Exciting stuff.  Really happy for the dev team.

I actually didn't know that we were in that exhibit.  We displayed Runbow at the museum during the Nindies@Night event that kicked off PAX Prime last year, but its neat to find out that we're there again.  I'm certain I was told about this and just forgot.  Neat stuff!

I'd like to throw a recommendation out there for Dying Light. Very fun take on the zombies, open world, and survival. It is basically a functioning version of Dead Island (same devs) with a lot of the dumb stuff fixed. The hook is that you have to rely more on melee weapons. Using guns is allowed, but zombies are cued in on sound in particular. So if you fire your gun, expect to have zombies coming in from all over.

And then it gets dark.

Exactly.  Basically with Dead Island they were under strict limitations from their publisher which caused them to cut some corners.  After that was a success, they were able to make Dying Light live up to the full potential of the original vision, and with the lessons learned from the first one.  Personally though, I always liked the setting of Dead Island more, so I'm really excited that they're working on a new game with the old resort setting, but the lessons learned from Dying Light.

It pains me to not live in the pokemon universe. If there was ever a fictional universe, that one would be pretty ****ing great.

Agreed. The worst thing that seems to happen is some "mobsters" break into your science lab and challenge you to a poke-battle.

"If you ever want to see your family again, leave 2 million in unmarked bills at this address.  Or alternatively, beat me in a pokemon battle"

Also we won't kill your family, we'll hold them hostages in relative comfort and let them keep their pokemon, we're civilised people.

"Nice try kid, but I win!  Your pokemon are nothing compared to mine.  Feel free to come back later and try again though."

I just checked and my computer is well below the system requirements for Overwatch, which is good because it was starting to look really tempting and I just don't want that sort of time sink right now. :Y

That's surprising.  The game is exceptionally well optimized.  My buddy could run it even on his toaster of a macbook.

True.  Lot of mediocre supports.  However you occasionally get the great ones that can absolutely turn the tide.  Had a Mercy yesterday who did a whole team revive 3 times on Route 66.  Each time they were in overtime, just short of reaching the checkpoint.

And on the other side of things, there's a lot of players who don't properly keep on eye on their support.  When you've got a healer watching you back, the least you can do is help them when they're getting harrased by someone they can't fight back against easily.

Maybe someday.

Right now it has two massive negatives against it: I don't trust Blizzard and I don't want another FPS. I'll show myself out of the topic now since there probably isn't much more I can add.

If it helps at all Pat, those two reasons were why I didn't bother looking into Overwatch earlier, and I was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong.

Really wasn't particularly excited about the game when it was announced.  I figured it'd probably be decent, but not really something I'd get into.

When the open beta opened up I figured I'd try it out with some buddies just to see what it's like.  Preordered it that night.

It's a really solid game.  You can definitely see the time they put into it.  Pretty well balanced with a lot of interesting heroes but most of all it just feels good.  Everything you pull off in this game feels really satisfying.  One thing that always gets my attention though is the level of detail in the levels.  Really shows the amount of heart that went into putting them together.
