Read through the first post. It simply involves unpacking and editing some text files with simple integer values, and then repacking it. So, yes, it is very reversible.

Solution (must be done for each time you want to start a new game in space):

1. click on desired planet
2. Ctrl-shift-C for the console
3. type "levels -unlock", without the quotes obviously
4. Ctrl-Shift-C to get rid of the console
4. Get out of that planet by clicking somewhere else on the screen
5. Click on that planet again, and all levels should be unlocked

And I'd like to echo your sentiments about keeping this thread spam free. Please post in the other thread. As for what should be posted in the other thread, this is what I would like to see....

if you see a complaint/problem has already been posted/is on the list, then please don't post about it again! The exception is if you have come up with another possible fix for the problem.

And remember, what we're hoping for is a patch. Patches generally don't implement big grandiose features. For example, while a hotkey to bring up an in-game notepad is feasible, something like the ability to destroy suns or to customize tribal huts would be a large project and we would definitely not see in a patch. I admit, however, that some suggestions I have /may/ not be feasible, and while there is a reasonable possibility they could be placed in patch those types are okay. An example is the slider for how populated space is. It's very possible the current chunk of code for populating space would be very hard to integrate with such a thing, however, it's also very possible that such a slider is feasible. We really just have no clue.

Also, don't use that thread to complain about not having features that have been said will be in expansion packs, as that's a dead giveaway that 1)It's a large chunk of code, or 2)Maxis wants to make more money off of Spore and so they're definitely not putting that feature in a patch.

I'll be updating the list shortly, as soon as I get a bit of spare time. Hopefully later I'll have time to rummage through some threads. In addition, Rusted should be sending me a list he has put together....

The com bug happened to me - I could neither open up the more detailed mission view or communicate with anybody. It was solved by a restart of the game, however.

Unfortunately it seems as if my topic has been merged with this one. That's rather sad, because as opposed to this thread, I was trying to update the first post regularly. In addition this thread has degenerated in whining, and many of the suggestions are not practical for a patch.

I hope the mods will be able to sort this out and create a better organized thread for the purpose of pointing out what some may view as major problems in Spore and some practical fixes that could be implemented.

Oh, and I just put a couple possible fixes I've either seen posted or come up with myself, I'd really like to hear any alternatives if you guys have better ideas. Remember though, you probably won't see large changes in a patch, so fixes have to be pretty minimal.

You still need to take the first couple missions in order to get a few things, like I think one of them upgrades your drive.

Some tools can be made available, and you can get infinite money. There may be a way to modify game values with the console, I don't know.

Once modders figure spore out, this will definitely be a very easy request...
