I guess EA doesn't release revenue data from their individual marques.

I still wanna know where that 4.6 Billion figure is from. That seems more like a figure that would apply to all of EA -- I want to know how the maxis bit specifically is doing.

What's this about Maxis being in financial difficulty?

I mean, spore was pretty crappy, but Maxis' franchises still sell reasonably well, don't they?

Sigh, I want to go home and play so bad. Reminds me of my first planet. I was playing and suddenly a moon came up.. I was in shock. The moon was so beautiful! To top it, it had oceans. Since my race was aquatic I can imagine the lightbulb moment!
Oceans in the sky hehe.

Your race was not aquatic.

So after you have used cheats is there any way to unlock achievements?

Start a new file.

Can you change homeworlds?

Your homeworld can't actually die, it just respawns if it's destroyed. As far as I'm aware, you can't change your home planet.

This smacks of desperation.

Mini proton missile- A very small and fairly useless weapon used against ships. Easier to aim than the laser simply because all you have to do is click a couple times on the enemy ship but does less damage than the mini laser. Further upgrades will make this weapon possibly better than a equal ranked laser.

The lasers always do more dps than the missiles, even in their 'Mega' forms.
I find it useful to laser something continuously and quickly switch between it and the missiles using the hotkeys when it's finished cooling down. You get a higher damage overall.

Terraforming their planets to T1 will destroy the Grox living on them, not just staff of life.

Very useful trainer. Seriously, though, the Staff of Life should renew itself by default, considering the theme of it.

Thanks for the heads-up, anyway.

Whatever happened to that awesome Sporepedia card system whereby a card of a planet would appear at the side of the screen when you visited it, and you could expand it to view the food web, civ, creature cards and so forth?

That thing was awesome.

well to clear things up, you claimed not to be a troll, but when someone posted a different opinion, you replied in rather poor taste, therefore, against all logic, you have trolled your own thread...kudos!

Whee! Trolls beget trolls! Even non-trolls beget trolls, who know not their own nature and unwittingly fulfill the role they abhor!

Either way, Spore seems to have been a case where the ambition and vision was far greater than they were able to achieve. By all accounts, they achieved some amazing stuff with much of the underlying tech, but they seemed to have sacrificed actual game for that. Hopefully (and all indications from EA and Maxis seem to point to this) they'll continue to build on the backbone that Spore has laid down. As much as I'm lothe to buy expansions, Spore might demand it in order to get what I was expecting.

I do wonder how much of the direction was inspired by EA's brains trust demanding that Spore, as a brand, capitalise on the casual market, but kinda went overboard. None of Maxis' other products are this.... kiddy and simplistic.
