Spore: General / Way to disable Maxis creatures?
« on: September 09, 2008, 12:35:51 pm »
Let's say I just want to see creatures created by everyone else, and specifically block Maxis creatures. Is there a way to do this? Can anyone think of a way?

Hey guys, I've been gone for a long time from the forums, but now that Steve is back I'm feeling like it's time to revise the first page of the thread.

There have been 58 good episodes of Gaming Steve. Not everything is meant to last forever.
We had a good run, I'll remain subscribed in-case Steve gets going again.

The Scots!

The Horde isn't "evil," so that isn't a good reason to exclude paladins to begin with. I think the whole thing makes sense, and there's no reason to get overexcited about this stuff because Blizzard, incidently, does not listen to anyone anyway.

I stopped playing about a month ago though. No interest in buying an expansion pack for it at this point.

I never saw Prey *chug* on my 360. That's where I checked it out in the first place.

It's a very fun, very unique game.
I'll be damned if this one doesn't win a lot of awards.

But I will say I liked the Prey demo more than I liked the entire Half-LIfe 2 experience.

PC Games / Re: Renamed: I just Wrote a Text Adventure! Nice!

Hey guys, I'm not 100% sure this is the place to ask, but since everyone here is talking about making a text-adventure game. I'm really interested.

Now I know how I can create the game using IF statements/switches and strings in the C programming language.
But how in the 9 hells can I use pre-selected conversation choices that someone can select? Let's say just by using the left and right and enter keys to select a list of options I've made available.

If it's quick and easy to write out, I'd like to see a code example.
Or, if anyone has any resources bookmarked for that sort of thing -- I'd really be interested in checking it out.

Hope I didn't crash the thread. @.@

Btw, I'm checking out your text adventure now sgore. =)

You've convinced me. Now you just have to put this video up when American Idol airs next season to actually get the word out to enough people.
And yes... it's unbelievable, but I can't help but believe this video to be the truth.

I stopped at 15 -- this game was made to make you think hard. It's a natural brain teaser and it's one of the best around. A definite must play, and the levels themselves are definitely more than 60 or so (maybe even 100 levels?). It's unlike any game I've ever played.

First off, I'd just like to say that Gauphastus had the right idea to move away from a conversation where skill was not in question.

This isn't a conversation about building the better zerg rush.
Some players do not find pleasure in making a game easier by following a specific ethic for a player against player RTS game. Some players pride themselves in completely dominating a foe in 5 minutes, while others enjoy making them play mind games and want a more challenging, longer running, more engrossing experience as a gamer. Sometimes we're not looking for "what's the best way to cheat past the AI on this mission," and we're looking for "Okay I've got an hour to kill, let's make a massive army of doom."

I'm sure you can understand that, and you should apologize for being so outlandish for no reason what-so-ever. This isn't some random IRC chatroom or a CS:S lobby where everyone is talking trash, saying "my rank is better than yours, HAH YOU SUCK." No one cares what level of skill you have here, and I doubt anyone really wants to know how much better you think you are than everyone else. Even then, for god's sakes, at least put some constructive criticism somewhere in your post, jeez.

The Age of Empires series is pretty much dead. I mean, I know almost everyone and their grandmother was going to buy AoE3 for its graphics until reviews started coming out and people started talking down their noses about it. It's kinda sad, but I'm not interested in anything AoE3 after playing the demo and getting over the hype. One of the saddest things about that demo is that the interface took up 50% of the screen.... a shame..

Feigro -- I mean -- those barbarians are SO forgiving arn't they?
I'm personally impressed at how balanced it is after only so many years of development.

You know they're still balancing Starcraft right? =)

It's not too hard to understand. Simply have the creature's feet replaced with hands. I can see it done fairly easy. ^^
