I dont think there will be anything that you need to talk to on planets with no atmosphere.

You realize this supports intelligent design alot more than darwinian evolution, right?

Anyways, kids can watch the discovery channel right, so seeing animals kill other animals shouldn't be too bad, but where do you draw the line for when one animal killing another animal is wrong?  When one, or the other is intelligent and organized?  Or is it always okay?  Or what if someone makes a human creature, and you hunt those.

I could see this being rated anything from PG to like 13+ for cartoonish violence.  Or is it realistic violence?
Spore will be a pretty unusual case for the ratings board, I think.

Anyone else disappointed by the flora?  They were the same trees from last year, and the year before.

I dont like how in the new videos all the trees kind of look like the old trees from before. Theres no new variety.

I dont know what you guys are talking about. Simcity and Civ, the games they based the stages on, are completely different games.

I hope the screen is bigger on the final builds.  My major complaint with tidepool is that it is too cramped, but that is probably because of that useless blue nothing on the edges of the screen.

Cell Creature Tribal City Civ Space thats 6.  Hmmm.

If you notice the bar on the bottom, it seems to say how much of the video you have watched.

It seems the majority of the creature, tribal, and civilization stages still remains to be seen.

Also, I love that crouching orange willosaur cameo about 25 seconds into the tribal. Atleast I think it is.

And Uroboros, I think that now is a great time to go lemming-style jumping to conclusions based off of what we seen.  If we are too afraid to say what we've noticed based on looking at the vids, how will anyone figure anything out?  Discussion is better than silence.

But for the water stage, The video made me afraid that every creature that comes out of the water might look like that, and therefore there might be no water phase.  It kind of looks suspiciously like the blob that starts all of the creature editor videos.  Also, I didn't see a fish-tail.

And finally, the trees are all the same from the past videos.  Can't they make some interesting flora atleast?

Spore: General / Re: Molecular Phase?
« on: March 05, 2007, 09:06:27 am »
After reading more about the origin of life I have discovered the Miller-Urey nor any other experiment has proved that molecules coming together are responsible for life.

"Given that the origin of life is proposed to have proceeded by spontaneous chemical reaction, the chemistry concerned should presumably be rather robust and therefore relatively easy to repeat. The fact that it is proving very difficult to do so is a major challenge for researchers in this field, suggesting they may be focusing on the wrong locations, and on the wrong initial chemistry."

I am disapointed they're using  this molecular phase. It was much more mysterious when they said "Bam you're a cell. We don't know how or why"

Yes I know cells are made up of molecules. Whether they came together and were a cell through chance or some other forces are involved, we don't know.

But still, even if tomorow they proved that these pre-modern earth conditions could create life from non-life, it still does not get rid of that mysterious feeling. Where did the molecules come from? Rather, where did the atoms that made up those molecules come from?

Please keep the ID vs. Evolution debates on as few boards as possible.

Forum protocol says that you post in old threads, don't make new ones, regardless of what you personally like. Please follow it.

There's no need to make the moderators do work that could be averted by spending about 30 seconds of your own time.

Isnt that exactly what he did?  Hell, one of those links actually goes to this thread.

I think there will still be upper level predators that can eat you, but they just haven't shown them in the few unique videos we've seen since GDC '05

All they did was say that instead of Q3-Q4 '07 it wil be Q4 '07 or Q1 '08.  Its 3 months difference.

I agree 100%, but the next E3 is soon, and hopefully we will be able to see where they spent that year of development.
