Like a Gungan city from Star Wars?

The focus of this thread is not on what we want to see in Spore. Rather, it is what scientific foundations can be laid for creatures, technologies, civlizations, and so forth. It might be too broad of a subject.

I have created the new topic called "Science of Spore" to house the scientific discussions that have been cropping up in this topic. The link follows:

Have fun!

Oh, and if this topic (or something like it) exists please tell me.

Due to a growing interest in conversation about scientific theories and ideas, I have decided to create this topic. I leave it up to those involved in "A Probable Spore Expansion" and everyone intested to branch off here to breathe life into this subject. If this topic already exists (or something of its nature) notify me please.

I agree with you Chaosdwarft. This topic might stay afloat just through the conversation of our desires and hopes (and our suspicions) about the water civilization bit. The science stuff should seriously be relocated... please.

Don't lose sight of what Spore is about. Scientific probability or theory is not the basis of Spore; creativity is. Of course, I understand that the developers wouldn't just throw science out the window and operate as if the creatures were on land, but I bet they could come up with some solution for all the problems. I mean, it isn't very fair to say that no intelligent creature in the universe can flourish underwater. The incredible thing about humans is that we have the ability to think outside the box, especially as creative as the developers should be striving to be. I am almost certain that it will be an expansion, but I wish it could be in the first edition. If we want to focus on the technical aspects of having an underwater civilization, which are only loosely connected with this subject (A Probable Spore expansion) then I would love to join in.

I think that Spore will have a Water and Sky sort of expansion, considering they seem to have kicked out those possible creatures (at least the water ones). What do you think? I personally wish and hope beyond all else that they throw it in at the last minute and we're all surprised in April. I am pretty sure, however, that when they say that the game is "done" it's really done. I think we'll be waiting a long time (another year or more) for an underwater civilization or flying creature.

I have been waiting since '05, myself. I waited patiently; I'll continue to wait patiently. Of, course it'll be great! I just don't like the wait....

I bet it will require the player envisioning it, but I think it would add a layer of social depth to the game.

My science teacher completely embraces Spore as well. She isn't into much videogaming, but that's because she hasn't seen the science aspect of it yet. She loves biology, and i think she will absolutely fall in love with it; she's very eccentric about certain things. Anyway, she occasionally (I've had her in class for the past two years, which is not uncommon at all where I go to school.) asks about the game. Our computers are monitored by, and owned by, the state government. I doubt we could play it at school. But who knows?

What about Cold Wars? Fear of retaliation might become very interesting in Spore if they have nukes.

I'd have to say Space. The Space stage is massive and awesome, encompassing aspects of all the others.

I think that there'll be a fast forward button and such. For example, you play a battle taking place between two cities that is relatively five minutes. This time frame cannot work with the entire game at all. Because, you're supposed to be able to create a civilization and watch it grow before your eyes. The only logical way to do this would be a fast forward button. You just speed things up to see a species evolve or something. The only problem would be the fact that you would get lost with all the things speeding up and you having absolutely no control over everything at once. What I mean is that you could be speeding up time to see a civilization grow and prosper on planet X, but your homeworld is blown up while you aren't watching.
