In Spore I've rotated feet to face the other direction.

I told MaxisCactus I couldn't go (even though that absolutely kills me to have to decide).  She told me I couldn't switch out with Hydro but that the list hasn't been finalized.  It probably is by now though (as that was last night, and info is due by sunday).

I do want some pictures and details from you all :).

Wow... I got this e-mail too...

....  I have something really important I have to do that week.  This is going to be... complicated.

Why not... a week later?

Ugh... wow... who else is planning on being there?

Spore: General / Re: Spore CC Contest (PRIZES!)
« on: June 25, 2008, 10:02:01 pm »
the winners will receive a copy of the Spore CC

Isn't that a little like saying:  "You must have a paint brush to enter this contest, and the winner will receive... a paint brush!"

"... signed by Will Wright"

I think it's a decent prize :).

You can just submit creatures by uploading the .PNG file and posting it on that page.

There isn't any specifics for creatures that are allowed or not but I'd encourage legitimate creatures that can animate because they'll be tested in the CC.

Spore: General / Spore CC Contest (PRIZES!)
« on: June 24, 2008, 09:32:29 pm »
Sporewiki (through support from the Wikia staff) is hosting a Spore CC competition.  We're taking submissions for creatures from the Spore Fanbase and the best will be voted on and the winners will receive a copy of the Spore CC signed by Will Wright along with other prizes (to be announced soon).

So show your skills and follow the simple instructions on the wiki HERE to submit your creatures for this contest!

Please keeped this bumped so as many gamingsteve members can participate as possible.  Also, if you can pass this on to any other spore fansites you know please do so so that we can have a larger pack to choose from!

Good luck to all and have a great week! :)

I don't think you should be able to vote on your own creations as this is unfair you could just keep rating them highly.

You can only vote once though so it doesn't really matter.

The feature they need is a messaging feature.  Sometimes people ask me questions in the comments and I try to respond but I doubt they'll see it.  I often just comment on one of their creatures to do it but that's extremely unnecessary.

bumping so those who are getting it today can be reminded of it :).

you can't glide in the full version, the wings just improve that stat and the jumping stat, but if you click glide it just does the jump animation.

So Sporewiki is set to take submissions made with the new creature creator.

The link to do so is here:

A very simple example of what can be done is shown here:

All of the images will be uploaded and displayed in a nicer format in due time.  But simply entering the stats once will mean that they'll display great when the format is cleaned up as much as well as possible.

This has some advantages over the sporepedia because it'll be able to organize based off of fastest creatures, or off of only carnivores or only herbivores.

Of course I could use any comments or suggestions for this.

My current goal is to simply get all the images on the wiki so it displays cleanly without red links.

Anything else feel free to share or ask right here.

I'm trying to start compiling a method of posting your creations on sporewiki, but it'd look a lot nicer if I could get some images.  So if someone could manage to get me a set of images with HP from 40 up to however high you can get it, same with speed, from min to max.  I'd appreciate it.  Thanks!

Spore: General / Re: Creature Creator Parts List - WIP

I was about to start this up on the wiki.  I'll keep this bookmarked to use for it :).

The problem with the old creature history is that the filesize could easily tarball... and within a couple weeks there'd be editors for that kind of data.

Good idea, though.

They could easily protect a slot in the png structure that will store the id of a creature's "ancestor" with some encryption.

Full version was sent to some spore fansite admins a couple days ago for free.  They e-mailed us instructions and passwords/logons to get to it.

Spore: General / Sporewiki - Submit your creatures and help out!
« on: June 15, 2008, 04:10:34 pm »
Hi guys!

We're set to take creature submissions at the wiki, see post 3 for more instructions on that!

It's about that time for a rehaul and I could use some help with setting up the wiki for all the new changes we've had the last few days.

I've moved the creature database we've all known and loved to Concept creature database so that they can all be preserved and expanded upon forever.

The current Creature database will house everything useful for our in-game creatures.

I don't wish to be in competition with the official sporepedia because of course that is a losing battle.

That being said there is a lot of things that the sporepedia doesn't do, that sporewiki would be great for.  A few notable things are:

An ability to set up backstories for your creatures
To list the parts of the creature (what parts, where about are they?
To accurately describe your creatures design (color/texture/ect.)
To explain how it moves
To detail how you made some complicated parts
To give any further details that simply looking a picture could never give you

I'm sure there is plenty more and that's another reason I could use some help, to find our best niche.

Also, Creature creator doesn't exist yet and could use some images.  I'll supply the full version shots of all the parts, but the rest of the parts could be listed and documented, along with their complexity* and other stats.

Again, I'm not looking to recreate anything that is easy to find and more organized elsewhere but there is a lot that can be done that would make sporewiki useful.

Just really outlining my plans here and hoping someone would like to hop on and work with me on some of this, let me know.

I'll be waiting in the sporewiki gabbly chat here:

if anyone wants to help.
