Console Games / Re: What do you think is a game that needs more attention?

Golden Sun is an amazing RPG but it doesn't get that much attention.  A lot better then the Final Fantasy's, in my opinion.  I also love the graphics.

Blu-ray discs are entirely unneccesary for video games.  DVD's are fine unless you have cutscenes or lots of audio.
Even if you have cutscenes an audio, it still won't exceed the space of a DVD.

Look at Elder Scrolls 4.  It has..what...50 hours of voice track?  That and it hashighly advanced AI, realistic graphics, etc and its only on one disc.

THere is no need for Blu-Ray, at all.  Like the cell processors, games arn't ready for Blu Ray yet.  The load times will be quite a bit slower then the Xbox 360 for graphics that dont' look much better then the Xbox 360.

And according to their website, the hard drive is sold sepratly.  It won't have any way of saving all. Source:

So, whats the deal Sony?

Well, yesterday I decided since I had a bit of my Christmas money I thought I'd get something on the Live Marketplace. It turns out a bunch of MP's only cost 14 bucks so that was perfect.  I wasn't able to get the 12 months of Live that I wanted since I hadn't gotten the other $100 of Christmas money from my grandma (Who I would see later that day).

So, since I didn't have a credit card, I called my dad up and asked him if I could use his, and pay him in cash.  We set it up and everything and bought the points.  So after all was said and done, my dad wanted to take the credit card information out of the system.  He wanted it out just incase my system was hacked or something like that.

Well, it turns out, once you have your credit card info in, you can not take it out of your Live account.

My dad even called customer support and asked about it and the only way you could take it off was by wiping the gamertag off of your system and making a new one.

Seems a little susipcious of Microsoft if you ask me, but who knows. :-\.  My dad got me 12 months of Live at the store to make up for it, which is great.  But now I can't buy anything ove Live until I get my own credit card.

You dont really need jumping to have a great game.  Splinter Cell didn't have jumping and it still turned out fine, didnt it?

I love how almost every one of them comments on how ugly the power button looks.  Yet its probably one of the best parts of the design.

Money, gift certificates and PGR3.

Nothing too big but it does the job.

I'll probably pick up the 360 in March or April sometime, but not before Oblivion comes out. Can't wait for that.

Also, I will purchase Spore for both the 360 and the PC. PC will be a better version (probably) but I can easily take Spore to a friend's house on the 360. I don't know why I added that.
THere will be Spore on the 360?  I thought it was PC only?

I'm not waiting, obviously.  Ig to my 360 launch day and am happy.  Most likely will be picking up Revolution sometime in the future.  Depends when I feel it is fit.  But with its low price tag (Under 200?  Count me in.) picking it up soon after launch wont be a burden.

G4 still hasn't completely crossed over into pure gaming.

Thankfully it's still G4TechTV up here in Canada.  Thouhg there is not much difference from ours to the one in US.

You have to be 18 or over, sadly.

You might want to use someone elses Passport account who is of higher age or just sign up a different one.  Whatever you wish.

What the heck is the battery and 'Play & Charge Kit' for? I thought you could just plug the thing in.
The Play and Charge Kit is for wireless controllers.  It allows you to plug you controller into one of the USB ports and charger the battey (battery pack comes with the kit).  It will charge no matter what yuo are doing.  You can even play games while you are charaging.  Hence the name.

Does Xbox Live Silver need a monthly subscription? I'm sure the Gold does, and what's the difference between the 2?
Silver is completely free and comes with the system.  Silver allows you to download content off the Xbox Live Marketplace and Live Arcade, keep a friendlist, have voice chats, and play MMOG's online (Though you would ahve to pay a monthly fee depending on the game).  THere is also free weekends where you can play games online.  These will happen about once a month, if I remember correctly.  Also with Silver you can do pretty much anything that you dont need to go online with.  That means play games and all that good stuff.

Gold allows you to do all the silver stuff, do video chat (When the 360 Camera is released.  To my knowledge you will also be able to hook up a webcam to do this also), and pkay games online.  It may seem like a hefty price to pay the cash just to pay online, but just look at all the multiplayer online stuff it is, then maybe you'll get why its so expensive. Also, depending on the subscription, you will also get a free Live Arcade game (Joust for the 3 month, Bankshot Billiards 2 for the 12 month), Marketplace Points and a Xbox Live Headset.

That wold be a really dumb thing for Microsoft to do.
Not really.  It's a basic marketing stratagy.  Get people into Silver and they will want more and pay for the full Live.

I see Silver as a great way to integrate Live without playing though.  You get to download demos, trailers, do voice chat, keep up with your friends, download game content, etc.  This way, for people who dont have access to the money you need, people can just have a great experience and use the 360's many online features without paying money.

I suppose I'll need a charger and battery if I want the wireless controllers to work for more than an hour.
The wireless controllers work approximatly 10 hours on a standard pair of batteries.  So you dont need to pick up a charger, but it will save you money in the long run.

But will I need the Ethernet Cable to connect to live if I already have a regular internet cable I can just plug into the wall?
The ethernet cable comes free with the system already, as long as you get the Premium system (Which I reccomend ANYBODY who buys the system do.  If you buy the Core and the hard drive, you are already over what the PRemium costs.  You save lots of money with the PRemium package.)

I'm not sure how the whole cable thing works, though.

Movies / Re: War of the worlds !

I saw it the first weekend it came out since it was my friends birthday.  I probably would'nt have seen it otherwise since I'm not that big on serious movies unless they are really good.

I found this movie in paticular really good.  The effects, plot and everything were really well laid out.  There were some really bad "wtfs" in there though.  THey didn't explain a lot of the stuff clearly (or maybe I wasn't paying enough attention) about when the tripods just died.  Also, the endeing was craptastic because there is no way that kid could've survived, and even if he did, come home in one piece.

It's like they suddenly ran out of budget and were like "okay, thats it, end the movie now."

I'm probably the only one that thinks this, but I found About Schmidt to be plain horrible.
