Sorry I missed the sarcasm.  I went back and re-read your post and the lightbulb finally came on.  D'OH!

Didnt starraiders need a special controller?  I remember having that cartiridge, but i didnt have the controller.  I also remember that the game was so convoluted that you actually needed the instruction manual to explain it.

I realize you are talking about starmaster, and I have never heard of that one.  It just brought back fond memories of trying to figure out how to play StarRaiders.

One of my favorite games on the atari when I was little, was Keystone Capers.

You actually believe that killzone trailer is realtime gameplay footage?  Wow.. That was disproved a long time ago.  I certainly believe that it is what they are stiving for, but I know that they had an animation facility working overtime producing that trailer before E3 2005.  Hell, the ps3 hardware wasn't even finished when they produced that clip.

I have no comment on MGS4.  I have seen some of the realtime demos, and they look fantastic.  But again, who knows what they were running it on.  I don't believe anything I see from Sony at the moment.  I'll reserve judgement until I see the actual product with my own eyes.

Bring on the Wii.

Albatross 18 will be releasing "season 2" on august 3rd.  We can expect additional courses and a new charater.  Possibly new caddies, and probably a lot of new clothing items.

I have to agree %100 with your assesment of the online community.  Most of the people I have played with are in their late teens to 30's.  I've played with people from france, Chile, Italy, UK, and all over the USA.  Jerks and "power-gamers" seem to be more the exception than the rule in the "versus" rooms.  It seems the "power-gamers" hang out more in the tournament modes.

This is the online golf experience I was dreaming of when I bought links for the xbox.  (no-one was ever online when I wanted to play)

anyone playing "Albatross 18: Realms of Pangya"?

It's a great FREE online golf game that is very heavily influenced by the hot shots golf franchise.

I think the greatest thing about it, is that you can be totally competative without ever spending any real $$$ for upgrades.  Unlike gunbound where paying players get all the best gear, and dominate everyone.  "pangya" gives most of it's top gear for players who have saved up the gold they earn for free playing the game.  (based on performance).

the game is very well balanced, pretty to look at, fun to play, and has a great community.  I'd highly recommend any video-golfers check this out.

Oh and if you do, add "lokisocks" to your buddies list. :)

Well okay, but since you've kept us waiting this long, I want you to say the word:

"Carticleasical" somewhere in the new podcast. :)

It means:
Beuatiful and Illustrated language    "Milton's epic similies are written in a cartcleasical manor"

Anyone remember scorched earth?

there's a web-based multiplayer version of it now.

Come play!

Note: if you don't like slowly-paced turn based artillery duel games, this is NOT for you.

Luke, you should login to your NCsoft account page and see if City of heroes is available to purchase through direct download.  I bought City of Villians and Guildwars that way.

One of the things I liked about the comic was that is was very cinematic.  Notice all the jusxtaposition scene changes, where in one panel we are looking at a main character or place, and it seamlessly transitions into a past experience with the same camera angle, or a different character in the same pose, in a different place.  It's almost like the comic was written as a movie storyboard.

Plot points I could stand to lose in a movie version:
- Black Freighter (although'd love to see it)
- Newsvendor's relationship with comic reading kid.
- psychiatrist's relationship with wife.

Plot points I expect studios to cut out
- the comedian's family history (this is a spoiler so i'm being vague)
- Most of Dr. Manhatten's history
- Most of Adrien's history
- Most of rorschach's history
- possibly the ending.

Which is a shame, because all of the histories are what make the ending to the book meaningful.  It explains what ultimately happens to everyone.

Ultimately this is a story about Characters.  The events are exciting, but secondary to the stories of the people involved.  I don't think this movie would fly as a superhero action movie.  People would be confused.
