What about all the other people who were going to update?  If only one of them would just post a funny picture on the front or something so we can see something new.  :-[

Key word is "look."  ;D

In all honesty, Maxis does seem like a pretty rad place to work.

Spore: General / Re: Unguided Arrow

A completely worthless post awaits:

SporeBuck, the word "want" does not have apostrophes in it.  "Wan't" is a nonexistent word, as the word want is not a contraction.

That is all.

Spore-related: I have always liked spaceship designs (not NASA style, those are too boring and efficient, I mean like Star Wars and aliens and stuff, that type of spaceship), but I've never been able to make any cool spaceships until now.  I also now have a real appreciation for designers of things in Sci-Fi because it's hard to make things look good.

Sims-related: I have a much higher appreciation for interior designers and architects, all my houses sucked.  But I like to think my creativity went up with that.

Other-related: I love to design base and fortress layouts now, thanks to two games.  Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast (cumbersome name, eh?) made me really like level design.  Though I never actually went through with it and made mod maps or anything like that, I've spent many a class period drawing fun new levels I'd like to play with that game.

Evil Genius helped flesh this out.  The game's base design aspect is phenomenal.  It allows me to come up with kickass trap configurations and such, I just love to design impenetrable fortresses to protect my evil self (mwahahahahahahahahaha).

Level design is really important to me.  I love strategy games that rely strongly on terrain, and tactica in warfare is wonderful.  One great thing about Spore is that no matter what, you can always have a new map to play on.

I get crashes on my Space game when I travel from star to star, but I can chill in the star system I'm currently at for as long as I want.

About to advance on a separate game from Tribe to Civ, once they get to Space I'll see if it's just the one game or all my Space games.

Walking up to and onto a spice geyser when in creature phase rockets you into the sky, and you land safely and unharmed.

Spore: General / Re: Vehicle Painting/Texture Errors

I don't know if it's on all roof parts, but the half-sphere one stretches and screws most textures up.  Unfortunately, I'm using it for dome-shaped buildings on some of my colonies, to look like moon buildings.  I can sometimes cover it up pretty well with other parts pasted on but it doesn't always look right.

I'm getting problems with it, and I'm in the US.

Same problem.  Before I go through the work of re-me-itizing them, thus deleting their comments and such, I'd like to know if this is fixable.

I got mine yesterday from Play-N-Trade, presumably they don't know they weren't supposed to sell it.

Spore: General / Return of an Old Bug: Missing Creatures?
« on: September 05, 2008, 08:47:47 pm »
Ok, I just got Spore today (two days early!  :o)

Pretty fun!  But I'm getting the old bug that occurred in the CC where your creatures do not show up as being made by you.  I'm a little bummed this wasn't fixed.  :-[  Three of my creatures were already logged as mine upon logging in, so the rest I dragged into the Sporepedia like normal, but I want to know if there is a quick way to handle this in the full game as opposed to the slow and tedious process from the CC where you change something in the tags/description then resave the creature so it shows as your own (I don't like this because it makes it seem like the creatures are a lot "younger" then they really are).  My apologies if this has already been answered.

Grr, I still have threeish days.  And I don't even get a full day to play it before I have school.  Grr, I hate this Sunday release date.   :'(

So would anime parts be anime eyes and spikey hair?

Spore: General / Re: Religion's role in spore
« on: August 16, 2008, 01:51:39 pm »
I find that realism arguments and "ooh, it's science-based, so why religion?" arguments are pretty silly.

Pretty much all basic cultures of human started off with water vehicles and not land vehicles (Canoes, anyone?).  Humans have gone thousands of years with the only land vehicles being dragged along by horses, donkeys, mules, etc.  Yet in Spore, land vehicles are automated.  I just imagine it as, "Well, I'm skipping parts of my creature's early culture.  I'm going from scattered tribes, maybe to early citystates of Greece or something, then skipping to the industrial revolution-like era where everyone is still pretty split up and mechanical cars, boats and planes are beginning to be used to increase communication, trade, and warfare quite rapidly."

So it should all be taken with a grain of salt.

Congratulations to the Spore team and everyone who has been involved in the making of this historic game.  I thank you heartily, for your hard work of so many years will truly pay off when the game is in the hands of us, the consumers, and your fans.  We love you, Maxis!
