Spore: General / Re: Spore 2m copies, has 1.7m pirated. So almost half...
« on: December 11, 2008, 09:28:08 am » developers will stop making PC games because they are becoming unprofitable.

Already happening. In the auto sim racing genre, which is a much smaller and more vulnerable niche, one developer went down the tubes a few months ago (10tacle) and another is now developing primarily for consoles instead of the PC (Simbin). People are ripping content and spreading it around for free and the developers can't survive that way.

The pirates respond with their traditional list of excuses, but the end result speaks for itself.

Spore: General / Re: Who here is still playing?

Haven't played for about a month. But before that Spore held my interest for quite a while (got the Spore Addict 100-hour achievement and the Alter-Ego's Alter Ego one) so I would definitely say I got my money's worth out of it.
Since then, moved on to Civilization4:Colonization, a bit of lapping in GTR Evolution, and currently playing Far Cry 2. Tempted to pick up the Witcher Enhanced Edition next.

Unless a seriously cool expansion is released for Spore, I can't see returning to it. But I still drop in here once in a while to see what's happening in the Spore universe.

The glowing trail isn't always there either.  Sometimes i complete the missions by lasering the area that my radar indicates without any other indication that something is there.  Lowering the graphics settings tends to help in my experience, but i haven't figured out exactly what sets it off.

I've seen the same thing occasionally. I wonder if it's a graphical z-order sorting glitch. That is, if the polygons that the glowing effect is applied to are positioned underground (if the creature happens to be very slightly 'submerged') so the terrain effectively covers up the glowing trail.
What really gets me is when I zoom down to save some planet and the terrain itself is bright yellow. Good luck finding the glowing trail! ;D You gotta hope you can find enough infected creatures over on the night side of the planet.

For the longest time, I didn't realize that the your space ship's scanner beam pointed in roughly the direction you should travel to find the rare object or planet tool.  :-[  Yeah, I felt pretty dumb when I finally caught on...
(BTW, nice crow stories)

As referring to this screen shot, how did you get 11,210 hp without hacks? The most I have been able to get is around 6,000

Obviously, 'these people' are using mods. They probably did get the badge, with mods it'd be easy. They are just lying about not using any mods.

I have 11,250 health with my Warrior race, no mods or cheats. I believe you need three things to get that much:
1) Play the Creature phase as a predator to get the Prime Specimen bonus for extra health.
2) Unlock and buy the extreme health upgrade in the Space stage.
3) Play on Easy difficulty.
The last one is probably why you haven't reached the same amount, I'll bet you're playing on Normal or Hard.
