Seriously though, if you really want results don't cancel your order by email. Call them. Talk to actual people so they know you mean business.

I will be doing that Wednesday if I get no web results. (most likely result)
I have no problem with hours on hold.

I'd do it sooner but I work with internet access and no phone access. (skype is blocked too)  12 hour days are fun. More days off.
That's how come I have so much time to waste here.... lol    ::)

You know, most of us were eagerly anticipating Spore, and it just couldn't come out fast enough. Back then, if someone told you to wait two months because then you could buy it the same time as the to be-announced-parts pack and save $20, would you have honestly waited? I doubt most of us would.

I would have waited. Though I try real hard to pretend to be a fanboi, I am not. I do understand most of you would/did. But as a consumer I find most people are willing to piss money away for their emotional needs. That doesn't make the actions the sellers "right". I could break it down to a one on one example, as that really is what all transactions should equate to in the first place, but really don't care enough to do that. I cancelled my pre-order, that's good enough for me.

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.
I have checked your order (#426667xxxx) for the game "Spore™ Creepy & Cute Parts Pack" and found that it has been processed successfully.
As you know that, this game is currently being sold as a pre-order and is not available for download as of now. Rest assured, as soon as the game is released you would be able to download the game.
If there is anything else we can help you with please let us know.

Standard rule of the net: Show pics or it didn't really happen.

Hee hee, and even then people will say it was shopped.  ;-P

In my mind it has nothing to do with "bringing in new people". That is a lame excuse and current sales show it for the lie it is. Heed the Wizard's 5th rule.

Then what DOES it have to do with? I'm serious. Are you saying that EA was just out to tick off its customers for no good reason other than to be the "big evil corporation?" I honestly don't understand your point of view here. What exactly do you think EA was trying to accomplish if not to sell more copies? What's the motive here?

This reaction is kind of ridiculous, honestly. Whether or not Spore and the parts pack are packaged together, those of us who already own the game are going to have to pay the same price. If someone else gets the opportunity to save some money, that doesn't have anything to DO with us. It's not like we are going to have to pay extra to compensate for the money that someone else saved.

This reaction makes no sense.

Ok, I see I failed to communicate what I wanted to say. I hear you. It does not make sense as typed, let me try again:

I do not use the term blind greed very often, it is like hate, or evil, not part of my every day life. It takes quite a bit for me to use it, because it implies they care about nothing else but the money. EA has always seemed to want the money, even if it means not having to "understand" customer or even listen to them. It is a bad practice I will not support.
They are cutting off their nose to spite their face and don't care that they are doing it.     "It will heal" seems to be their mantra.
I refuse to participate. They say they care, but their actions show the lie, hence the reference to the 5th rule.

They want to increase sales, more power to them, but they should start by treating their current customer base better. Word of mouth is 1000x more effective than ad campaigns. Especially when you look at dollar for dollar comparisons. Good business practices have never sunk in. Maybe they should re-read a business managment text.

How about this scenario:
What if the day they starting selling Spore they also announced the expansion. Further, what if they allowed people who pre-ordered spore to pre-order the expansion the same day. Let's say it was going to be released in a week. Everyone was excited. They felt special too, because they got to pre-order.
Five days went by, then the company announced it would be re-packaging Spore to include the expansion in two days. You'd still not feel ripped off? Really?  Well, some of us have a lower "day count". Six months is expected, one month is not is not. Nothing like lowering a BAD STANDARD.

Oh, and I do not think they are "evil". That is an awefully stupid statement.

The only reason why you guys complain is because you don't have the money.

None of this isn't about any of those things to you. Everything you guys explained about it is just an elaborate complaint that you guys just don't have money for it.

20 dollars. Big woop. Deal with it. You should be complaining about the economy.

Interesting. Wrong, but interesting. It shows me a lot about you and your thoughts/feelings about the community in large. You would fit in nicely with EA's business practice, or in modern politics.

This is an issue of perception and percieved value. We paid for a game out of the box, wanting to believe the hype. Generally we all fail the Wizard's First Rule.
We found it didn't live up to the hype, so we complained and got the company to fix a few things wrong with it.  This is the horrible "accepted norm" of computer gaming. It is an industry that is dead LAST in customer service. The even falls far far far behind companies like Sprint in customer service.

We were then told the expansion was coming out in a month. We failed the 1st Rule again. For my part, I per-ordered (I do have the $, it wasn't a big deal to spend it) but had to wait 3 weeks for said product. I was willing to do that. I try to show companies what I like or dislike with my $, as that is really all that matters in the long run to this "industry".

Meanwhile the company "decided" to sell the product for the same price AND put in the expansion. From what I can see, this was the plan from the start. It was rather a sharp slap in the face, specifically saying "SUCKER". As a consumer, I am told my choices are "putting up with it" or "spending a little more and get a new copy of the game w/ the expansion" IF I want the expansion.  It's a good marketting tool of a company that does not give a rat's ass about customer service.

You do not contribute to your current customer's ill will if you care about them. You do not ignore the anger when they tell you that they feel like they are being ripped off. You certainly don't tell them to stop whining and suck it up. That's just incompetant arrogance, from a business model point of view. Yet this is an "industry standard". I have decided to go the route that I should have taken years ago.

I have decided that such blind greed will not be supported by me. In my mind it has nothing to do with "bringing in new people". That is a lame excuse and current sales show it for the lie it is. Heed the Wizard's 5th rule.

I will not only cancel my pre-order, I will NEVER buy an expansion.  [edit] Pre-Order Cancelled [/edit]

What I find interesting is that people call it stealing. Because the second you agreed to the ToS for the software AND shared anything, **It Ceased To Be Yours**. It is filed on the server under your name, but it became public domain. Sucks, but there it is.

Someone needs to carve "CHA" on a planet's moon, then beam down to the planet and get a screenshot...

Make sure you yell "SPOON!" when you do!
