Spore: General / Re: Finally The Grox Defeated

Congrats to your friend. I've been chipping away at the Grox myself, and I've only made a small dent.

I have had the same problem. In my case it was because I had a mod and installed the patch. Took out the mod.

It's a mixed bag. There's a few creatures I like a lot, a few I don't care for, and most are in between. I like a lot of their buildings, though.

I claim the rare spice planets (purple, pink, blue) as quickly as possible. Upgrade when possible. Search for best price. Profit.

My interest is waning, too, but I feel that's pretty normal. I'm not disappointed. I figure I'll come back to it sometime; that's how it is with the Sims 2 for me. I play a lot for a few weeks, then get bored and don't touch it for a few months. Then I come back. Etc.

Just three different kinds of mouths. No need for different diet types. No need to play through creature stage that way. It confused me too.

The yellow arrow on the yellow circle (that shows how far you can jump) around your spaceship points toward the center of the galaxy. I figured this out on my second trip to the center, when that arrow was spinning around like a confused compass. The Galactic center is like a magnetic center.

Re: The Bards races in space stage

They have the same dialogue as the warrior races. The only way to tell them apart is that the (very rare) Bard has some starlike lights in the top two corners of the portrait when you speak to them.
The background is otherwise the same as the warrior.

No, pretty sure Bards are the Philosophy of Chance. They talk about umbrellas and cake and about eating you. They're rather silly. And they party too hard.

Warriors are the Philosophy of Force. They say they're the strongest blah blah blah.

Warriors and Knights have the same dialogue.

Strange. Is there any way to tell the difference between them? [about knights]

Well, in the comm panel, my Knight race is dramatically lit by a yellow light from below.  I haven't noticed that on any other creatures.

My boyfriend got to space with a Knight race today, and his race was lit from below by a red light. Also, the background had stained glass windows. So I guess that's what sets them apart.

I'm disappointed. Every other trait has a different philosophy. Why do Warrior and Knight share? :/

I've got over 5,000. But I have a good number of buddies.

Hm. I believe the last tribe changed my alignment in my latest run-through in tribal. I, too, was trying for the blue zone.  I got it.

I'm working on taking out the Grox as well. I haven't been keeping a count but I'd say I've conquered 40-50 planets.

How is it going?  What method are you using?

It's a bit like squishing ants one at a time.
At first I was planet busting, but because that was making the empires near the grox declare war on me, I've switched to terraforming. I was using the staff of life to do that, but I'm phasing into the "terraform on the go" method. Shoot the planet with the needed terraforming beam while constantly moving. Grox are slow. Put down plants. Take plants back. Go to nearby colony to rest and recharge. Rinse, repeat.

I've made a small dent.

We Like New Acquaintences.
Failed Missions.
Taking Our Resources.
Captured our Planet.

Something about bribes.. there's the bribe you give when you're at war (categorized as "weak" vs "strong" I think), and then there's the "Your gifts" one.

Hm... I don't think we're talking about the same thing. xD

In which case, I have not noticed a green bar that doesn't pertain to rank. And now I'm curious.

Above the green rank bar, there is another, much smaller bar, with a home icon and a spaceship icon. Behind the spaceship icon, this bar will be green. The spaceship shows how far from the center you are. Also, if you scroll over the space ship, it'll give you the coordinates of your position.
