Cell Parts Xtended: Enables morphing sliders on cell to creature parts.
I hadn't noticed that the older version stopped working.

Now that sporecasts can be searched, i don't see a point in maintaining this.

We've restored a number of the affected sporecasts. Please PM me if you continue to have problems. Include the URL for the sporecast so I know which one to investigate.

Oh, and one more thing that's been a gripe of mine, and I'm wondering when / if it could be fixed... I'm annoyed seeing part of my creature's body when it opens its mouth.
I sincerely doubt it can be fixed. Aside from just not placing body parts on the mouth.

It can be fixed in some cases.  See this creatortip from this creature.

With some of the heads, when the creature opens its mouth the body shows through.  Before placing the head put an 'empteye' where the throat will be, and you'll have a nice black spot for a throat instead of a spot of body-texture.

It would not be in keeping with spore's level of detail to have any sort of rational explanation for "spice".

You can however find a list of the banal uses it is put to by mousing over it  (or something like that) in the trade screen.  Different colored spice is used for such important tasks as making beverages and waxing floors.  The economics in spore don't even try to make sense.

If you notice, the cell grows increasingly less transparent as cell-stage progresses, by the time it is ready to go up on land it is totally opaque.

There are unique benefits to using the cell textures however... This thread describes them as well as provides a link to download a bunch so you don't have to make them.

If you sort sporecasts by rating, a lot of them on the first pages now report that they have 0 items.  My two oldest, and most popular sporecasts where hit.  In game everything seems to be fine, or at least the same as it was last time ran spore. 

Anybody know what's going on  This is not pleasant??

So the original CC included 24 limbs (12 arms, 12 legs), but with the control key, you can take them apart and you soon find there are really only six limb piece types, just put together in different combinations, sizes, muscle mass deformations, ect.

With these 24 new Exoskeleton limbs (12 arms, 12 legs), it looks like they use 14 different parts -- one part is the same from the old set (See Humorous Humerus or Grasshopper), so this gives us 13 new pieces. It gives us over three times the number of limb parts we can use now -- six to nineteen!

Yeah, i wish you could just grab the limb segments without having to get a whole pre-assembled limb and throw away everything you don't want.  Maybe that could be a mod.

It wasn't in the standalone Creature Creator, but it's always been in the full game. Since we got used to it not being in the CC, a lot of folks never bothered to check in the full game.

Yeah, i didn't notice it until somebody on these forums mentioned it, but it's definitely been in the full game since before any patches.

Anyone know if there is a way to link UFOs to space races or buildings to races so when they download into peoples worlds they use the proper vehicles and have the proper buildings? Or is it all randomized?
All randomised. Although you can link buildings to other buildings so that they're more likely to be chosen as a complete set. See the SporeTips Blog on how.

Neither would i.

But i doubt this cost much to make.  It could be profitable even if less that 1% of Spore players buy it, or something like that.

Not to nitpick, but Will was referring to the rate at which we created things, not the amount.

That may be but:
~Total number of species on earth: 1,589,361
Sporepedia species/creatures: 28,992,856

We're now ~1,824.18% God  ;D

I realize you are being humorous, but not everyone with that line of reasoning is.

Will Wright made a clever crack in one of his demonstrations, that soon the CC users will surpass God with the number of "species" in the Sporepedia vs. the Natural world.  It was a clever way to make the point that there is a freaking lot of stuff in the Sporepedia... however it really shouldn't be taken too seriously.  But that seems to be what many people are doing.

There now a meme going around comparing "God's Creation" at a disadvantage to What's in the Sporepedia.  The diversity in Spore is really neat, but if someone seriously thinks Sporepedia is a better collection of creature, they are either profoundly ignorant of the natural world, or never browsed through random Sporepedia entries.

1) The number of species alive today is irrelevant. Most forms of life this planet has borne are extinct.  A conservative estimate is that at least 95% of earth's species are extinct. It could be much more since there's no law that a species must leave a fossil, or that a human must stumble upon it.  So the number of Sporepedia creatures still has a long way to go to equal the number of living and extinct species.

2) Most earth species contain some variety in form: subspecies, sexual dimorphism, multiple-stage metamorphosis, castes, even seasonal variations.  Compare that to Spore where all all members of a species have precisely 2 forms: baby and adult.  All members of these two groups look exactly alike.  How does that compare to the huge variety within the "dog" species, or all the specialized castes of an ant hive, or even a butterfly/caterpillar?

3) Sure the Spore creatures look really different, but their group of behaviors possible among all possible Spore creatures is smaller than that of a moderately complex social animal.  Real animals make their living through all kinds of ways not remotely dreamed of by Spore creatures, such as: tunneling, trap-making, climbing, pollinating, deceptive mimicry, threat displays, parasitism, luring, diving, skin-color-changing, photosynthesis, hearing, magnetic sense, infrared vision, sonar, etc.
I'm not complaining about Spore, but there's just no comparison.

4)Unlike in Spore, real animals exist in a physical world that is a bit more demanding.  The 15-jointed leg that looks so cool on your creature might be profoundly unworkable in real life.  One of the interesting things about real biology, is that animal forms frequently solve engineering problems in extremely elegant ways, that scientists are still learning from:
The jellyfish which can navigate without any brain and hardly any nervous system,
Cuttlefish which can instantly change the color and texture of the skin,
Woodpeckers which repeatedly slam their face against a tree, yet avoid brain-damage.

5) All the scientists in the world don't know how to make a single living cell, let alone a multi-cellular creature.


Have fun with Spore, but be sane.  The real animal kingdom is so much more than the Sporepedia.
