TV / Re: Canceled too soon!

Not that I wanna promote piracy (at least where I live it's legal to download TV Shows as far as they show the source (TV Channel or whatever)) but the first 3 episodes of Jericho leaked at the same time (about 15 hours ago) to torrent websites, and apparently the show is gonna continue thanks to fans.

What happened is that all the fans sent in packets of nuts to the chief of CBS and so she wrote a statement saying that she would allow a short second season of 7 episodes, airing from the 7th of february i think. But she did also state that this was it and it was now down to the ratings. If Jericho gets the ratings then it will continue. If it doesn't then it's going the way of the cancel!

Another under-rated RTS that would most definitely work on your laptop as it is a few years old is Homeworld and Homeworld 2. Very good games.

I doubt my computer could run it. Hopefully it comes out on the Xbox360.

I thought that but have since found mine can run this at 1280x1024 on medium settings :) And thank god it can because the little bit I've played so far has me hooked. I'm really enjoying this and that is a surprise as I never really got on with Oblivion and have never been a PC RPG fan before.

The only problem is that my girlfriend is struggling to find me the first book of the series in English and she's Polish :p

Maybe I'm just overly suspicous but is there anything suss about a guy who recently joined pimping out his new favourite MMO.

Well if you read some of my other posts, you'll find I recently joined as my real life friend also recently joined Gaming Steve as a Contributor (Matt Robinson).

And this is the game I have recently started playing (approx last week and a half) so when I couldn't find a thread on it, I thought I'd start one and see what other people thought about.

I do apologise about trying to start a conversation about a pc game on the pc forum section of a video game website though. :-\

Didn't find a topic for this so thought I would start one. Yarr!!

Have any of you tried the Open Beta and/or are now in the Pre-Boarding for this?

As an ex-WoW player, who's been cold turkey for over 6 months now (:p) I tried the Open Beta of this after a friend recommended it to me and was fairly impressed. It's not Warhammer, which is the game I'm most looking forward to but it's a nice change from the usual MMO's out there.

Sailing a ship on the sea, being a trader and building up the economy (99% player run), being a naval officer and protecting you ports, or being a pirate and just doing what the hell you want.

I've tried the trader route, and in this game, just wow. It reminds me a bit of Eve in this respect except that no one person can build everything he needs for a ship due to the limit of 10 'building' slots per server, per account.

The ship combat is well fleshed out and looks rather darn pretty and and is quite tactical, and PvP can be quite tense, especially when it is more than 1 on 1.

It does have a downside and that is the hand to hand combat during boarding and land missions, but that is a fairly new feature and so is still being worked on as we speak.

Anyone else out there have any thoughts about this game? Or is anyone thinking of trying it?

I laughed at this film. The accent was horrendous (I sat next to a South African girl at school, and she sounded nothing like Leo) and the story was droll to the extreme.

To be honest I might be biased against Mr di Caprio as I don't like him, but come to think of it, I did like Catch Me If You Can, so my original statement stands, it was the film and not him ;p

Chuck is one of the best shows this season, action, comedy, drama, it has it all. And if you like chuck try Eli Stone, not as good but good nonetheless.

An under-rated SF writer as most of his books are for the 'younger' readers, but are fantastic reads nonetheless is Philip Reeve.

Try the Mortal Engines quartet and you'll see he is that needle in the modern day haystack of writers.

I don't have photo's as most of my consoles are in storage due to my current house job/situation but here are the consoles I own, not sure of games for each one except my 360 but here is a list for now

Sega Master System
Sega Mega Drive 2
Sega 32x
Sega Saturn
Sega Dreamcast (My niece's have this atm)
Nintendo Gameboy Color
Nintendo DS Lite (My girlfriends sister has this atm)
Nintendo Gamecube
Nintendo Wii
Microsoft Xbox (My nephew has this atm)
Microsoft Xbox 360 (26 Retail Games and 32 Arcade Games) + HD-DVD Addon, Microsoft Steering Wheel, Live Camera
Sony Playstation
Sony Playstation 2
Commodore Amiga CD32

One thing I do know (and my girlfriend does not) is that once I start my new job I am going to try and build up my collection of old systems, I might even buy myself a 3D0, sick as it may seem ;)

Well I'm new here so thought I'd say hi. First my name is James, from the UK and I arrived here after my good buddy in real life, Mr Matt Robinson aka 'Diggler' arrived here as a writer. So to support him here I am.

I love games, especially at the moment my 360, RTS and RPG's are my normal thing, but wierd and wonderful games are really where my love lies. In fact if I could remember to start a game earlier in the day I'm sure I could get a higher score on E4 :)

But I digress, so to recap and add, James, 26, from the UK, started on a Spectrum 48k, currently on 360/Wii/DS/PC (well I gave the wii to my mum :p), Sega fan of old, about to become a Pirate (Yarr!) and my favourite thing is beating Matt on most games (except Pacman C.E.!).

Any questions, just ask!
