Spore: General / Re: Multiple screen names WILL be allowed
« on: September 18, 2008, 01:48:50 pm »
Is it possible to log in to your account on another person's install of Spore?
You've bought your copy, and created your account with your CD Key.
You buy her a copy, and she creates her account with her CD Key.
Will you now be able to log in to your account through her game, or will you have to create a new screen name under her account?

I don't have any information on this but it would be completely illogical to me if that wasn't possible - since you can choose to not be signed in in Spore. You can currently set it to sign in automatically, or sign in manually. Why would I want to have to write my username and password every time if I weren't supposed to be able to use any other accounts on my installation?

Yeah, it makes sense to be able to log in to your account from any installation of Spore, but has anyone actually tried it?
All the fuss that people were making about DRM and accounts and stuff sort of gave me the impression that maybe you couldn't.

Yes, you can log in to your account on someone else's copy of Spore. I log in on my sister's copy all the time!  ;D

Well that's sad :(

Now my sister and I have to share the same computer XD

Ok, so the card is NVIDIA GeForce 6200. That one's not too great, right?

And on the lap top (it's a Vista), I right-clicked on the desktop, and instead of properties, it had graphics properties, and it went to this Intel thing (dang it...). So I tried to find exactly what kind of card it is. I'm not sure, but I think it's either "Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile Report" which kinda doesn't sound right, or "Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family". Is that a sucky one? Or am I even looking at the right thing? The thing about this lap top, no matter what settings I put for Spore, it always looks like it's in low quality. Is that the card's fault or something else? And it's built in, so could I ever get a better one? Man, I'm asking way too many questions...

Ok I really need help.

I had an account for the CC, all was well and fun.

My brother (also very into spore) asked for it for his birthday. It was on September 8th, so I thought, hey, why not?

He made his account, and played. It was still all good. However, when I just tried to play now, it wouldn't accept my account, as his is the one registered with that copy of spore.

Will I be able to use my account with this game?

Because if not I may just have to kill a few people....

I'm pretty sure the only way you can fix that problem is to buy another copy of Spore and register it on another computer, but to do that you need two computers and 50 extra dollars... AND if you want to use a lame computer just to register Spore on it, I don't know if you'll be able to log onto the computer your brother's account is on... I have yet to check that :)

Edit: Ok, it turns out if you activate Spore on a computer with a different copy of Spore, you can use it on any other computer with Spore  ;D Which is very exciting for me because the computer my account is activated on sucks, but the computer my sister uses is decent, and I'd rather have decent than sucky XD
So basically if you have a spare computer and an extra copy of Spore, your problem is solved :P

Ok, everything is at medium except for shadows and depth of field which are low. I didn't touch anything else which means they're at 800 x 600 and 1024.

And everyone's saying "GeForce 8800 this" and "GeForce 6200 that." What does it mean??  ???

You pretty much got it HeatherFeather....  It's too bad there wasn't an option to have different achievements etc. for different windows log-ins at a minimum.
I totally agree, seeing as you can manually upload creatures to another account (I think...), I think the only other big problem is the achievements.

My brother E-mailed me an article from ZDnet about the DRM on Spore.  A guess Spore is getting slaughtered in review by people who either are made about DRM...

Maybe this kind of negativity will be enough to remove the DRM!  ;D Assuming that it's happening a lot on other sites as well ^^

Oh, and in all its ridiculousness, I just wanted to say that it turns out we ordered one too many copies of Spore, and instead of returning it...I'm going to use it on my mother's lap top to have my own account XD So basically I bought two copies of Spore just to have one for myself. That's kinda sad that I'd have to do that :-\

Oh my gosh, this makes me mad! Now I pretty much can't do anything because my sister doesn't want me to get any achievements for her (like it matters...) so I guess I just have to play offline, but if I play offline, that means I won't get to use anything from the Sporepedia unless I manually download it, right?

Well I hope to hear from some who don't have it maxed to see what their settings and experiences are! ;)

Lucky you, I don't have mine maxed ^^
I have everything at medium, and I even have some at low! That is because I want the game to run smoothly so I have have to sacrifice its wonderful graphics :(
The ones I have on low, by the way, I think are the field depth or whatever one and...shadows? Or something else. I don't want to get on and check right now  :D

Spore: General / Re: Which difficulty will YOU play ?
« on: July 21, 2008, 02:46:43 pm »
I think I'll play on hard, because I want my first time through to last a long time ;D Of course, if it turns out to be TOO hard, I'll go down to normal.

When I'm in the mood for playing something relaxing, though, I'll probably end up playing Spore in easy mode :)

I just put all the video options on max. The videocard is also relatively new.
Ok, I'll try that  :)

Well, my computer is only a few years old...

You have to use a lot of Virtual Polish(TM) - Made by mixing a pound of elbow grease in a bit bucket.  ;D

Tee hee, that made me smile  :D

Ok, I'm sorry, but how do you make your creatures look shiny?

Even when I download a creature that's shiny, it's not shiny in my game  :-\

So i guess spore really don't have that many creatures after all. I wonder what percentage is just duplicates of the same creature uploaded over and over?
Well, even if half of the creatures were duplicates, that'd still be about one million different species; if 3/4 of them were duplicates, that's still about 500,000 so I guess it's not too bad! That's still more than Will Wright expected we'd have. ;D
Wouldn't alcohol be considered innapropriate for a e10+ video game? Maybe they will be taken off if the Maxis Team sees it as so.
I think it says online interactions aren't rated, so they wouldn't necessarily get in trouble for it or have to take it off, right?  :-\

I just noticed, he has duplicates of other creatures as well. I realized this when I noticed there were four Homer Simpsons  :-\

Wha? He's only made about 20 beer guys. Which is too many as it is, but its not terrible... Maybe I missed something, or maybe you're just exaggerating and I'm being clueless!  :D
