Sorry if it's a little of topic but I remember a Maxis person saying "If someone wants to make penis cars driving into vagina houses, they can."
No they can't. All cars do is drive around and fill up balloons.
penis cars filling up little balloons seems like maxis goes for the perfect definition of safe sex

when I try to colonize a planet in a system that already has an alien colony the game stops me so if I had 2 planets colonized in one system would it mean that the AI would be unable to take over ether planet unless it first totally destroyed all life on the other something I'v never had the AI do yet to me admittedly the GROX might do this but surely none of the other races would be this evil. I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this method of keeping enemy aliens from taking over colony world and if so does it work?

primer guide says the last 2 tabs in tribe only add to complexity not to your stats just as the clothing you can add in later stages is just for looks

all my games have been on easy I'v tried all red all green and all blue and every one has suffered immensely in space stage. the last game I played I had three planets under attack at a time I only had 3 planets at this stage as the rest had been conquered I went into orbit of the first planet after freeing it from attack and immediately got a call from it demanding me back to deal with a new attack and at anytime I don't have a planet under attack I have an eco disaster going on. going to try a combo of different colors next. To be fair though tribe and civ stages have been so easy I could have slept through them they could do with being a little harder ie tribe pick any tribe to conquer non militarily gift them if they hate you if not play at them successfully twice and they join you. same story in civ use 4 vehicles to ether trade sing or conquer a city don't worry about the other cites attacking you they don't the only time you hear from them is if they want to trade with you.
what would be really useful in spore is a tweak cheat panel so that rather than trying to install mods or modify the code yourself you could modify things such as the frequency of raids attacks eco disasters ect in an options menu eg the choice of starting your game in easy medium hard or custom. even better if during a game you could go and tweak these values this would mean that people who like playing ultra hard games can make the game settings harder as they advance and people who like an easy game can make it real easy until they have a chance to get established

Spore: General / Re: magnetic card reader/printer for spore

if you made the reader bluetouth wifi usb and inferred enabled you would probably cover most forms of conectivity in one device posibly add some adapters for any other format not covered.
unfortunatly bar codes just dont contain enough information it would have to be some form of chip but if you could buy sheets of printer paper with the chips in the right place to be cut for the cards this wouldn't be a problem. If you didn't have a picture printer for the format needed you just use a card to transfer it to a format you had a picture printer for or you could just write or draw the pic/stats on yourself.after all it's the data in the chip thats important. I can see a lot of games that are avalible now especially stuff like pokermon which is a card game and a consell game that this sort of technology would enhance. but any game on more than one format could benifit from it take for example supose you have a pc game which is basically a (roleplay/explore world beat stuff up) type game maybe the xbox version of the game has a 2 player one on one fighting mode so you put your pc char on a card go round to see your mate with his xbox load your char in to his xbox play with him for a bit save your char on the card again and take it home with it's slightly uped stats and then put it back on your pc. an all system card reader that you could create your own cards for has lots of uses.

Spore: General / magnetic card reader/printer for spore

I think it would be a great idea if you could buy a magnetic card reader/printer for spore the sporepedia will look like a set of cards and there are sugestions that there will be an asociated card game I think it would be great if you could not only print out these cards as a picture but also add a chip to them so they could carry the in game data of the creature so if you had one of these cards you could add the data on them to your sporepedia and then recreate the creature in game. so I can then have my friends creatures without having to search for them among many worlds with them as a favorite. I could also have them even if nether of us had an internet conection.

if you placed the chip somewhere on the card that no other company used you wouldn't have the problem of people using the printer to clone other types of cards such as phone cards.

I have a reader writer for a mobile phone card chip this cost me less than £10 think it was about £3 so if you had a reader/writer designed with this level of data in mind it wouldn't cost much if the cards could be desighed to be printed using a standard printer and just have the data added using the card reader you would probably be paying about 10p for a sheet of about 10 cards so it probably wouldn't cost a lot.(100 for £1/$1)

If spore started using this system we would probably see a lot of other games start using this system to alow easy transfer of charecters and data from one game system to another, much the same way that the unlock codes from the sims 2 pets are used.

Spore: General / Re: Senses and thinking
« on: April 23, 2007, 06:14:33 am »
we have 5 senses not just the 2 mentioned(seeing & hearing) we also have touch taste and smell taste and smell are closly related most of you sense of taste comes from smell. now as no critter can survive without a mouth and hence a sense of taste. the ability to detect certain chemicals which come into contact with the taste buds and these chemicals are also airborn. all creatures would also have a sense of touch the ability to
detect vibrations felt on the skin from the ground and movments in the air also.
If a creature had no other way to detect it's enviroment the senses of touch and taste would become heightened alowing your creature to create a map of the world based entirely from the vibrations it could sense and the tastes in the air, much like a bloud hound detects smells and like a bats sonar it could tap the ground and feel when the vibrations returned.

quite frankly I want a cheat that will remove a creature from the game. When I run up against my 500th willosaurus clone I don't want to have to change my peace loving creatures into a ruthless war machine and whipe out all the clones, insted I can just nurf it and maybe get my first penis creature insted lol.
I'm all for cheats that let people do anything they want they should include as many as they can think of as using them affects no game but your own.
I'm going to scream if I see another person complaning that some super powered cheated creature is going to be imported into there game where it will destroy there itybitty non cheated char. It has been clearly said that the eco system will be balanced which meens you will only get creatures imported that your critter can deal with even if that may mean some running and hiding.

Everything Else / Re: Board Game Recommendation Needed

Miniatures with tape measure.  Setting doesn't matter.

how about fairy meat

Fairy Meat

This is Fairy Meat - a bold adventure in miniatures wargaming for two or more players. Each player controls a warband of cute and cuddly fairies, andů Wait, there's a twist. Warped by evil, these once happy-go-lucky fairies are now homicidal cannibals! Yes, it's kill or be killed in this world of raw carnage and pint-sized mayhem!

Whether you prefer a one-shot scenario or an ongoing campaign, this twisted game of brutal action is perfect for all mature gamers who want something a little different. A game of Fairy Meat (like real battles between the Wee Folk) can last anywhere from ten minutes of slapstick slaughter to hours of ferocious fun. Fairies have an arsenal of weapons and magic at their disposal, as well as thralls (small animals enslaved by fairy enchantment). Combat is resolved by using the rules in combination with a standard deck of household playing cards, and the game uses our own modern world as a game board. This means Fairy Meat can really be played almost anywhere - exactly where fairies fight their bloody battles!
