Here's a short Q&A transcript, but no images:

I want to hear that Spore rules! Yes! I want to hear you all saying it's good, great, perfect and wonderful! I, I, I... AAGH!! Tell me it's gonna be good! Please! If it's going to be a dissapointment, I want to be dissapointed after I have bought it and played it! Yes, I would be really sad then, but at least I wouldn't worry a year before it's release! AAGH!! I wish I would have never read this depressing topic!!

Same here. But I've gotten use to reading this sort of thread most every game forum I've followed and learned that you can't get away from those who love and those who hate, and those who worry it might not take.

This is what I do:
1. Go to http://www.spore.com/screenshots.php?movieID=0&play=hi
2. Watch the "Official" Spore Trailer very carefully.
3. Notice that it still shows for us 6 stages of the game and take note that the 2nd one still has the sea-creature exploring his water world.

Until Maxis or WW remove this part of the video demo on their Spore.com site I'm not ready to follow the pack and worry about something that so far is just one person's theoretical assumption formed from hearing a speaker say that your creature emerges from the water as a slug. Where the heck does anyone come up with the idea that this statement is some sort of secret code implying that WW has or will eliminated the water world on any level? This is sounding a lot like that Chicken Little  story... "the sky is falling, the sky is falling!"

But what if he does? It's his creation, it's his call. But believe you-me, just listening to the community clamber on this way over this one aspect of the game will be pretty darn sure reason to keep or re-introduce the original idea of also having a water-civ-world to explore, even if it does come later as an expansion pack.

I for one am willing to pay for that and any others that follow if it means I can play this fantastically creative game sooner. And I doubt it would hurt it's popularity at all... never did for 'The Sims' ;)

Seems to me this might be part of the strategy to get the game out to all of us sooner (possibly?).
I can deal with less to get it sooner, knowing WW has been excellent about adding content for us soon enough and on a regular basis.
Bring it on, I'll play it now just as it is!

Spore: General / Re: Texture Editor?

No - the textures are generated mathematically - probably in a proprietary format.

So it safe to say then that if textures are randomly generated they will still offer a level of individuality between players within the Editor, then... cool. That's nearly as good as using your own independent texture generator and importing them into the game.
Thanks, that was quick.

Spore: General / Texture Editor?

Anyone know or heard if the game's Editor will allow the uploading and using of our own textures?
Would be a great addition to the individual's creativity process if it does.

Thanks
