Try this thing out, it's called Website Value Calculator. I think someone here posted it once. Anyway it's a pretty nifty tool.

Gamingsteve.com Estimated Worth $24615.6 USD

Lots.

It's worth $34930.5 now, so it's gained 10k in value in the last few months!

Podcasts / Re: How did you discover "Gaming Steve"?
« on: March 24, 2008, 08:44:10 am »
I found out about Gaming Steve listening to Major Nelson's podcast. Major mentioned he was interviewed on Gaming Steve's podcast, so I checked it out and have listened ever since.

Console Games / Re: Reasons why not to get a PS3
« on: September 28, 2006, 03:43:50 am »
I find it so funny that all these people who swear up and down that they will not buy a PS3, they hate Sony's arrogance, too expensive, etc. All these people are probably  going to be first in line to buy a PS3 when it comes out. Me, I never bought a PS2 so I won't be buying a PS3 either. I'm not a big fan of Japanese style games anyway, the playstation has just too many of those kind of games.

PC Games / Re: Opinions on Direct2drive

I think Oblivion works with the delivered patches, also D2D screwed up and did not make both patches available for Blazing Angels, so I installed the regular patch and it worked.

Everything Else / Re: Fidel Castro

I was laughing at all those idiots in Miami that were on CNN last night celebrating and hoping Fidel was dead. What people don't seem to realize is Fidel's brother is not any better than him, he's in fact probably going to be a worse dictator.

PC Games / Re: TES Oblivion: If you have PLAYED it...
« on: March 22, 2006, 12:03:30 pm »
1) How many hours have you played so far.
2) Rate your impressions of the game so far: 1-10 (10 being best).
3) What system are you running it on
4) How happy are you with the technical performance on your system (FPS, etc).
5) (Optional:) A brief paragraph or two with your opinions (PLEASE NO SPOILERS?)

I just bought this from Direct2Drive last night. Here are my answers:

1.  About 3 hours of game play so far.
2.  It's just breath-taking. 9.5/10, I'm holding back .5 because there is some sluggishness in the mouse cursor sometimes (but doesn't affect gameplay).
3. Dell XPS Gen 2 laptop, 2.13 GHz Pentium M, 1 GB RAM, GeForce 68002Go Ultra (256 MB)
4. I'm very happy with the performance. It's very smooth in the dungeons, and pretty good in the outdoors. There is a noticeable frame rate drop when I go outside into the countryside, but it's still smooth enough to play.  I'm playing at highest detail settings at 1200x800 (widescreen). I might crank the settings down if I run into performance issues later. I tried the 1920x1200, and it's a little too choppy for my tastes at that resolution.
5.  I have to say Steve was right when he called it a massively single player RPG, it really does have the feel of an MMO but in a single player game. The only thing I wish it had to make it more interesting would be more people hanging out in the Inns. In the Imperial City, the Inns were all empty except the Innkeeper. Maybe the citizenry are all in mourning, or maybe they're all in the Arena, which was closed when I got there.   One thing that panicked me, I was over 2 hours into the game, just getting to the place to where I need to complete the first post-tutorial quest, and I accidentally attacked the unkillable "quest person" that I needed to give an item to.  Ooops. I had to run into the town guards, who saved me from the unkillable person who came after me.
I had to pay a fine though.
The other cool thing that happened was I was just walking on the road, and all of a sudden a butterfly flew in front of me. I looked around and saw another, different kind of butterfly, flying around in the distance. It was about that time I noticed the crickets were chirping. Man, this game is immersive.
And finally, I was waylaid by a highwayman, and didn't have the money to pay him, so he attacked me and almost killed me. I had to run away, and just keep healing myself using my spell until I had enough health to turn around and fight. I almost got killed again, so I went invisible (I have that ability once a day) and hid from him. He found me after the 60 seconds were over, and I barely managed to kill him. So far, combat is pretty challenging.

Podcasts / Re: Podcasts to complement Steve's

I also listen to Gamespot's podcast, The HotSpot. http://www.gamespot.com/podcast/podcast.xml

IMHO, there is no podcast that matches Steve's, but PC Gamer and Gamespot come close, IMHO.  I used to listen to the Yankidank guys, but quite frankly I found them to be amateurish and they often seemed to talk about uninteresting stuff.

Console Games / XBox 360 Backwards compatiblity confirmed!

They said it will be backwards compatible with the "top selling XBox games" which either means they are covering themselves in case one obscure title doesn't work, or they mean it will only be compatible with certain selected titles. Probably the first, IMHO.

Steve you need to get a Mac, you wouldn't have so many problems then.

If it's anything like the XBox, the price will probably be around $599 (Canadian). That's what the XBox was selling for when it first came out here in Canada. Personally, I waited until I could get one for free (this year) using airline points.

Console Games / Re: Xbox 2 Specs
« on: May 14, 2005, 02:48:51 pm »
Any idea if it's backwards compatible? My thought is no, because if it was going to be backwards compatible, Microsoft would probably have been promoting it along with the other features. They are quiet about it because they don't want to turn too many people off.

What's the deal with the full nudity and the sex with two women in the game? How explicit is it? Is it like a XXX porn movie?

Console Games / Re: HD Era MISTAKES (XBox 360)
« on: May 14, 2005, 02:42:01 pm »
What do they mean by "multiplatform"? Do they mean that Xbox live users will be able to play with PS2/3, PC and Mac users?

Also, they aren't forcing you to upgrade to an HDTV to play the Xbox 360. HD is requred to be supported for all games, but an HDTV is not required to use the XBox 360, you just won't get the "full" effect without an HDTV.
