OK - I missed that!

Nearly a month on from that post and still nothing though...?

So, is this 'Game Over' for Gaming Steve?
The lack of even a brief post explaining what is going on is pretty surprising (and pretty dissapointing).
He set the standard for independent podcasting, so to abandon the community like this is very strange.
Hope you're OK Steve - you're sorely missed.
You're lack of reading up five posts is also surprising ;)

Long story short ... the server wasn't working and I couldn't really even post to the site, and it was just getting worse and worse (which is why I turned off the commenting a few weeks ago on the main site). I couldn't update the site because I couldn't GET into the backed of the site ... it was that bad. Well, after rebuilding the server and upping the memory the server finally seems to be working better than ever and is finally back to normal.

Now I'm just going to update the backend blog software to the latest version (hopefully today), make sure it works, and then updates will begin again! And then so much more...

Podcasts / Anyone tried to produce their own podcast?
« on: October 22, 2006, 12:39:45 pm »
Blogging keeps me busy but I thought I'd try to record a podcast. I got all the software set, worked out how to publish it to iTunes, came to record and it's just so difficult.

It's like recording an hour long voicemail message to someone you really want to impress!

Having tried it myself makes me appreciate what Steve does even more, I'll have another go, as soon as I get over my stage fright...!

Great to see that Steve is back, and congratulations on the new addition to the family!

No mention on the progress of the selection process for site contributors though, no rush though Steve, we understand the delay.

I don't think Sony has a foot anymore. At this point it's just shooting itself in the shins.

 ;D ;D ;D

What a great line, I hope you never find out when I use it on another forum....

 :P

As for the imminent demise of Sony, I doubt that is going to happen, but if it did, I think it would be more likely to spur other contendors into the console market, which could only be a good thing.

I don't think this'll be the end of Sony either, but they couldn't really do much more to lose the battle for this generation if they tried (and they seem to be trying pretty hard...).

Console Games / PlayStation 3 delayed until March '07 in Europe
« on: September 06, 2006, 01:35:28 am »
SCEE sent out a press release around thirty minutes ago - American and Japanese release dates remain the same.

From the press release: "The revision of the launch date in the SCEE territories is caused by the delay in the mass production schedule of the blue laser diode within the Sony Group, thus affecting the timely procurement of key components to be utilised in PLAYSTATION 3."

More info and official link on my blog http://thedigitalgamer.typepad.com/

This is absolutely disasterous for Sony, fascinating to watch though.

Any remotely active gamer in Europe can now happily invest in a 360 (if they had been holding out for a PS3) a Wii, and will have no space or money left over for a PS3 come March...

Yup, 1 more week until my last year of high school :p BTW Steve, can we apply for News analyst and gaming columnist?

It says in the email that you can apply for both.

Yeah like everyone else I got it too and the thing is, when I first logged into my email and seen it was a Gaming Steve email I was like OMG its about contributing to the site and clicked it right away then BAM.

Man, never been so disappointed in my life. :(

I thought the same, only to be confronted with, well, you know...

Console Games / Re: Whats the best way to connect 360 to HDTV?
« on: August 06, 2006, 12:53:07 am »
Anyone have some thoughts on the best connection method? I just got a new 32" LCD HDTV and I've been hearing the VGA cables offer better picture than component. But I've also heard VGA's color vibrance isn't as good. Also, do higher quality cables like Monster or gold plating make a big difference? Thanks for the help yall.

Well, I've used both the official component and VGA and I've stuck with the VGA, slightly sharper, and since the Spring update, the colour has been as good as the component, and don't forget, the 360 can only upscale DVD playback through the VGA.

I've been a massive SFII fan since '91, and this version, while technically decent, is essentially unplayable in any real way because of the Xbox 360's d-pad, and the variable online speed is pretty bad.

I've done a full review on my site if anyone would care to read my considered opinions!

Use the analog stick or a different controller (like the DOA4 one).

Thanks for the advice but I need a pad like the SFII 15th Anniversary ones released for the PS2 - analogue thumb sticks have no business controlling 2D fighters IMO!
