Console Games / Re: Super Smash Bros Brawl Megathread [SPOILER PARADISE]

I should clarify, I don't care how good R.O.B. is in terms of how effective he is. He was a terrible idea for a playable character. The only way they could troll us harder would be by adding the Wii Balance Board as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Fracas.

Better yet, they could have left out Wolf or R.O.B. or one of the other characters nobody likes and included an Advance Wars character or Isaac from Golden Sun as playable. The roster was a little bit disappointing, IMO, with the exception of Sonic, Snake and DeDeDe.

There was no order at all to Melee whatsoever. Sure, status(like normal, team, then giant, or whatever), but it was still entirely random.
That was Classic mode, Adventure mode was the same order every time.

Brawl, Mario Cart Wii, Boom Blox and Wario Ware.

Also look out for Wario Ware2 ;)
I forgot "cart" was traditionally spelled with a "c".

True story.

My PSN ID: isthiswhereiputm
Wasn't my first choice...

As for games, all I've got right now is GTA4 and Soul Calibur IV.

This should probably be a sticky, OR DO I DETECT AN ANTI-SONY BIAS?  :o

Got it today and I'm a bit disappointed so far. Few game modes, AI is still horribly cheap, a lot of the guest characters are straight up clones of veteran fighters (Ashlotte has exactly the same moveset as Astaroth) and it looks they even got rid of the unique styles for custom characters from SC3. The skimpification of many of the female characters' outfits (and bust size upgrades) just smacks of Namco trading off the solid gameplay of the first two games for fan service, like Dead or Alive or something.

Pluses include the graphics and online play (obviously) and the ability to design custom costumes for non custom characters. I put some actual clothes on Amy and gave her an afro.

EDIT: Actually, it's almost worth it for the character creator alone.

That's more like losing a reward than actually being punished. At least you don't have your units instantly removed from the battle like in the original.
They removed the yellow and red cards? If there's no punishment to disobeying the law, what incentive is there to follow them? Being rewarded isn't so great, since in the first game following the recommended gave just JP, which I really never used.
You're awarded loot items at the end of battles when you follow the law which you sell to unlock new items in the shops. You also get to choose a bonus like Empowered Viera or Agility Up at the beginning of battles which lasts as long as you don't break the law.

I got it on Friday. Pretty good so far, maybe a bit too similar to the first game, although at least now you're rewarded for upholding the laws, and not punished for breaking it.
Please say the primary and secondary job system is still in, I feel that being able to have a secondary class should be a staple in RPGs after playing that game for a while.
You can still use mastered abilities from other classes, if that's what you mean.

My main complaint about SSE, aside from being generally frustrating and horrible, is that it has virtually nothing to do with the old Nintendo titles that are otherwise enshrined in Brawl. Sure there are a few Mario enemies, DK-esque rocket barrels, and the Battleship Halberd, but for the most part it just seems to be made up of these generic locales and enemies that have nothing much to do with those franchises.

Also, 3000th reply.

I'll add GCool and Didero next chance I get. Dunno who else still plays this, or if it's even playable transatlantically.

Starcraft 2 and Brawl.

That's all that comes to mind.

Nah Zelda would be fine with a darker atmosphere and some grit. Just because it becomes rougher does not mean that Link will be eating glass and crapping out nails.
There's a difference between making the atmosphere darker and turning the game into Shadow the Hedgehog, which is what this sounds like. I wonder if Pit will say damn and Hell a lot, because that sure would be cool and mature!

I would rather have this gritty and grown up art style applied to the next Zelda game. Kid Icarus can stay all happy foofy foofy.
No, this is the kind of GRIMDARK **** that only 14-year-old kids are supposed to think is cool. Factor 5 can stay the hell away from my favorite franchises if this is what they're going to do to them. This pitch sounds like the plot for a modern Sonic game.

However, the "concept art" is so awful, I'm convinced this is a hoax. No developer as well known as Factor 5 could possibly hire a concept artist that bad.

They just started the first Competition. It seems kind of lame though. You have to get a good time in a Vs Race against AI racers on Mario Circuit with a bunch of Chain Chomps roaming around the track.

I always use the Concerto Kart with Toad. You can drift for miles with that on a lot of tracks, and it's easy to get red mini-turbos. Only problem is it has terrible handling. Sometimes it's nearly impossible to avoid slamming into a wall while turning even if you drift.
