Spore: General / Re: Piracy and Spore
« on: September 02, 2006, 02:38:48 pm »
To stop piracy could they not force you to start the game immediately after its downloaded and if it cant get started it would automatically install so one could not replace the exe with another in time. Because I believe it can't be moved while its being used.

Funny thing is, I'd like to use my computer for something besides Spore.

Also, any data can be read/written at any time. Just bypass the OS functions and you're done.

Unless of course hes suggesting you have to download the game everytime you want to play which is equally ridiculous

I went to the 10pm last night and I can easily say that was the most fun I have ever had the movies ever.
If you're planning to see it then make sure it's this weekend while you can see it with an awesome crowd because seriously the audience is what made the movie as great as it was. So much cheering and yelling.

Spore: General / Re: Will you get a spore figurine?
« on: July 30, 2006, 02:49:21 am »
wont get one. i dont see the point in paying to have it made and then shipped when at the end of the day it will just be a figurine of one of many many creature I plan to create. Maybe if I ended up making a creature that I used and played for 1 or 2 years I could see myself getting one but I doubt that will be the case.

Spore: General / Re: Who here ISN'T exicted about Spore?
« on: July 25, 2006, 11:03:45 am »
I guess I'm not as much anymore. I mean if they announced it was coming out next week I would get excited as hell but knowing that its about 9 months away has kept me fairly calm about it. Right now I'm more excited about the Wii. And I think it's good I'm not excited. I'd rather start to lose interest for now and then all of a sudden "oh look Spores coming out next month" then be excited and draw out the whole 9 month wait into torture.

Oh yea and I agree that this post is nothing more then flame bait.

Spore: General / Re: Spore Machinima?
« on: July 13, 2006, 04:02:53 am »
The key to machimina is complete control over the "actors" which Spore doesn't seem to provide.

I've seen Machinima's made with FPS's where it was one cameraman and the server was full of bots. I mean the story wasn't exactly character driven but the editor was able to take clips of bots doing what bots do best and cut it into a story that one could follow. Like I said, it's all in the creativity of the director.

machimina requires multiplayer, easy as that

Riiiiiight... Even though, as someone else pointed out, there are machinima's for the Sims 2, which is a single player game.

All you need to make a machinima is a game, a program like fraps (or an in-game feature like in the sims) and a creative mind.

Spore: General / Re: Will spore live up to its expectations?
« on: May 19, 2006, 10:19:49 am »
Well I hope so. But really, it's a sandbox game so I think whether or not it will live up to expectations is up to the player and how they play the game.

Depends. When I was in high school I never understood how people could just skip work or school to play a game but at the same time there was no way I could convince my parents to let me stay home so it never seemed like a realistic option. Now that I see how simple it is in college to just not go to class without any consequence I can kind of see why people do it. So depending on what class I have that day, yea I might just not go to school and take the day off to play.

As for long term, then I would agree with Jake, you need to start putting time into more important things. But as a first day thing I think its excusable. The first day I got Star Wars Galaxies I played from 3pm to 6am the next day. It was fun and it wasn't like I kept playing like that and let my grades slip.

I really wish he threw in multiplayer or even co-op. Me and my friends used to play a lot of Empire Earth against the PC. My friend and I would be awesome at building these empires and armies. It's funny because when we heard about the game we wanted multiplayer not so we could fight each other, but so we could fight together and take over solar systems and such. Ah well.

Spore: General / Re: spore for preorder
« on: May 16, 2006, 11:32:54 am »
I don't plan on pre-ordering this online. They always ship it the day the game is released and then its a few days before you even get it. This games worth the trip to the store. If they had some sort of digital download system the way Steam does maybe I would consider it but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Spore: General / Re: Isn't the Wii controller perfect for Spore?

I vote no. As much as I want a Wii, this game looks better for the PC.

Ok maybe I missed something but did WW every say that the menu from the demo at E3 would be the menu in the final game or that in the final game you would have access to all this stuff right off the bat? If anything I remember reading that it would roughly 10 hours of play time before you even got to the space stage.

Haddeen Sol keeps pointing to that menu as if it was confirmed that that was how the final game would operate and it's confusing me.

If any sort of demo of anything was released I would imagine it being released maybe a month or two before the games release. I can't think of any demos that have come out that much earlier the the game itself.

Spore: General / Re: Maxis Printing Service! (idea)
« on: May 12, 2006, 03:10:57 pm »
After realising the quality of the cards that Maxis prints, only stupid people who think their "indy" would print the cards.

Or people who dont want to waste their money.

At the end of the day a card is just a piece of paper with information on it. If I were to get into the card game and I had two options:

 1) Go out to the store and spend money for a Spore Booster Pack with X amount of cards. OR
 2) Hit the print button and get twice as many cards for free in less time then it would take to go to the store.

I'm pretty sure I, and many others would go for option 2, especially if pritned cards work in game, which the WW quote seems to support.
I personally don't see the big whoop about the card game. I'll be too busy creating creatures, worlds and managing galaxies to get excited over a trading card game.
