Spore: General / Re: Expansion Bundles
« on: September 30, 2009, 06:33:16 am »

With the cuts from Maxis from EA's bean counters, will there BE another expansion for SPORE even ?

I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet if I were you.

EA will put out a bundle IF there's any money to be made by doing so.

I got Spore to take the patch and run, took removing some files from this location....
C:\Documents And Settings\USER NAME\Application Data\SPORE\MVJCache\
I had to redo the Cache from square one, oh joy =P
I wish that folks doing these patches would make it so we didn't have to figure stuff like this out on our own

Hydro, I think w/ a little tweaking one could also make a faux domed "underwater" city as well nes-pa ?
Or even a domed city like ones we place on T0 planets in space phase.

The little Shperm guy I made is so cute. I think it would be a great idea for a race. And educational. :D

Reproduction... isnt that what Spore is about?

Will Wright Said so on the Colbert Report.

Uhm....

I was having the same problem, so I just downloaded as many adventures off the 'pedia as I could in one day.
Namely I spent one day just downloading Adventures from the 'pedia.

* Who thinks the reason there aren't more 'ventures is due to the editor having a pretty high learning curve *

Spore: General / Re: Have you got Galactic Adventures yet?
« on: June 27, 2009, 07:59:47 am »
I have it, but haven't made an Adventure yet as the editor is mocking me with it's complexity.
The leaflet that came with the game is a joke, so I got a PRIMA guide to help me. (  Just for the editor, I don't need it for game play at all. )
Something tells me the adventure I have in my head won't be the first one I make, as I have to do simple ones first to get the hang of the editor.
I've tried mostly the Maxis made Spore'ventures ( Is that a word even ? ) so far, they're a lot of fun, and funny as well.
After I've played them all ( At least ones the ones that are unlocked ) I'll start playing other folks 'ventures, a lot of this to see what is possible and what isn't for my own 'ventures.

I avoided this mess myself, even tho' my new computer came with Vista....
I took Vista off in favor of the Beta of Windows 7 ! ( I got fed up w/ Vista big time )
Spore / Creepy & Cute / Galactic Adventures all installed without any problems.....
All the patches also worked without any real issues as well.....
Well one or two, but that's only because I had installed it to an external 1TB HD on my old computer and patched it there....
I just had to reinstall it under 7 so it would know where it was and stuff like that.....
I simply plugged the 1TB into my new computer as the drives on it are kinda small.....
Only room for the OS itself and drivers ( sound / video / printer / etc )
There's room left over for on C:\ D:\ for the Spore creation files, but I wanted all my games, videos, etc on a big 1TB drive....
Just so there's room for future games and whatnot of course....
I played a few adventures so far in the space game.....
I saved one just before I explored to far from my main planet, just far enough to have 1 ally.

GOOD NEWS FOLKS !

I added more RAM to my computer, so on a lark (after backing up all my old stuff to a CD-RW, natch)

I reinstalled SPORE and patched it, and it actually PATCHED this time, no error messages at all not a one.

Well, I did have to tell EADM to stop bothering the patch process, as it kept slowing it down as it kept saying Hey update me too, not just SPORE, I told it go sit in the corner w/ a dunce cap on 'till I was done patching SPORE itself.

Spore: General / Re: Spore Font
« on: February 09, 2009, 04:08:28 pm »

Everyone could use this for making Spore video capture movie credits.

Only problem is it doesn't do the lower case Spore letters seen on
The Creature Creator as well as on The Creepy & Cute parts pack.

* Thanks for this font, whoever made it tho' *

With some of these, I'd rather see as a stuffed animal type deal.

Who wouldn't want something like a stuffed creature in your room sitting on top of the computer desk or whatever.

Spore: General / Re: Creepy & Cute parts pack won't install
« on: December 08, 2008, 05:27:45 pm »
Just to add my own two sporebucks on this issue...

Firstly, Patch 3 wouldn't work for me; I had to uninstall-reinstall to get that to work, which blessedly it did.  Then I splurged and got C&C, and went to install it, and I got the infamous 'Spore is not installed' error.  After some poking around on the official forums, there was a theory going around that it couldn't find Spore if you installed it under a different language setting on your computer.

I typically run my computer on Japanese mode so I can play.. ahem... imported games.  Now Spore installed and ran just fine under that mode, it didn't care-- but apparently it normally installs with a little (TM) in the directory name structure if you use the proper western/unicode language setting.  Mine didn't have that, and I didn't know what needed to be altered where... so I uninstalled/reinstalled AGAIN, as C&C refused to see Spore without the proper little (TM) symbol in the directory name.  Not even an option to MANUALLY locate Spore-- if it wasn't where it was supposed to be, it just said I didn't have it.

And this time, during the uninstall/reinstall, my saves got corrupted somehow. >_<  I have all of my critters, still, but all of my planets are gone.  My whole galaxy is tablula rasa.  The parts are okay,  but not really worth all of the pain it took through to install the damn thing.  I really, really, REALLY they fix this problem in future parts packs. >_<  Really.

Ugh.
Sounds like you might have to do what I did.
Complete remove Spore (backup your creatures & whatnot to a temp file somewhere first)
Reinstall Spore in English (as long as you can still run other games in Japanese that is)
Patch to v3, Creepy & Cute install.
If this doesn't work, then I don't know what will.

* Guessing as he can't patch normal Spore himself to test this, he has only been able to patch the Creature Creator *
