Console Games / Re: Wii Games: What Will You Get at Launch
« on: August 05, 2006, 05:39:57 pm »
Well, I'm looking forward to:

Red Steel, or if it sucks, Metroid or maybe Far Cry

Of course, I'm not going for the "Launch Window;" Christmas if I'm lucky.

One year.  Well, it'll be something good for my grandma to get me for my birthday I guess?  She's pretty generous, I think it'd be possible.  My birthday is in July.

You're overestimating the's at about $1.85-$1.90 right now (U$D).  Still a lot worse than it was like 5 years ago; then it was $.80 to the Euro and $1.40 to the pound.  Thanks W ;).

Well in Oblivion on the consoles, quick spell/armor/weapon switches are handled through 8 (diagonal, my brothers) directions on the D-Pad; on PC it was just 1-8 on the top keyboard numbers.  Now, the GCN D-Pad is quite worthless IMO, but if something like that has a use it would be hotkeys like that.  Thus, a Wii hotkey setup would likely be just the D-Pad on the Wiimote (it appears that this D-Pad is larger and more useable than a GCN one, more like a DS or GBA one).

I got myself an iPod Nano for Christmas, so it's iTunes for me.  Works fine :).

Couldn't find edit button 0_o, but I found another tidbit about the Opteron stuff on

Not even the server side looks all that promising, once you realize what's going on. Yes, Dell will be selling AMD-based servers, but only for four-way or more servers or more. In the great scheme of things, this is not a disaster or even disaster-in-the-making for Intel. The total number of servers sold is only about 5% of the total number of desktops sold, and the vast majority of that 5% are one and two-way systems.

Dell is only adopting Opterons in servers (Alienware products aside), and not until the end of this year.  I typed this as you were reading the story, Steve, and at 11:30 you commented that as well (thanks  8)).

Further, you were being sort of Intel bashing.  Granted, right now, AMD has the edge in about all desktop gaming environments, but considering what's coming down the Intel pipeline, such comments are really sort of harmful to the general (otherwise rather ignorant) "PC gamer" community.  What I'm talking about is Intel's Core 2 Duo ("Conroe") CPUs set for release July 23rd.  Put simply, they blow AMD's age old (killing Intel in desktop performance is tiring, after all) K8 architecture out of the blood-laiden pond.

Just saying; you don't want to plant anti-Intel seeds in innocent gamers' minds when Intel will be the gaming processor of choice (laptop and desktop) until into 2007.

Great podcast though; keep it up (and get Spore info  :D)!

Cool to see the list.  I want Madden and Zelda  ;D.

Oh, and on the wiki page (, I just updated it (badly, I'm sure) to include '(L)' for launch titles.  I'm new to wiki, but I tried to do a service...someone tell me what to do better next time please?

Drop it $50 so and a $250 Wii (price totally unconfirmed, but a good bundle pack will likely cost as much) falls into the shopping cart.

Oh yeah, I can't wait to "have an economic."  Qué?

By the way, no one won the Cold War.  It finished with a ****TON of nukes spread across the former Soviet Union, and quite insecure.

I think the PS3 is the new N64.  It has superior hardware but costs a ton.  Only fanboys buy.

Spore: General / Re: From Spore to Space in 5-7 hours
« on: May 17, 2006, 05:09:30 pm »
From first link
We were told that it shouldn't take too long for the player to get through the preliminary parts of Spore to get to the space portion; about 5 to 7 hours.

"Get through," to me, implies trying to rush through them.  Longer will be possible, I'm sure.
