Keep beating the dead horse PHI, maybe it'll suddenly get up.

Nice line. Too bad you're still wrong about StarCraft. But, oh well.

Still, very nice line.

In  conclusion, Starcraft was influential. Next item on the agenda: Ignoring reason.

Fix'd. ;)

lol, whut?

Simply stating that it's irrational to say that StarCraft wasn't influential.

I'm considering re-subscribing to create a gold selling business. :-*

You'll have a lot of competition.

But it still didnt bring anything new. It just refined what Warcraft and Command and conquer had already done. Its not influential, its just one of the best examples of an RTS.

The argument is whether the game was influential, not whether it pioneered anything. Considering the boatloads of Koreans that play StarCraft devotedly I'd say it had some influence; it's still deemed (at least by them) and some others as the best RTS ever. Do people still play the original Command & Conquer?

Tetris is very noticeably missing from this thread.

May I reccommend Marble Blast Ultra?

You definitely may. I'll second the recommendation as well. It's a lot of fun.

I wouldnt' be surprised if he was trying to sound cool, appeal to the younger audience sort of thing. Maybe he was trying to get his name out and become one of the "big guys" in the industry. He went about it in entirely the wrong way, for sure, but I bet this was more about personal glory than anything else. He obviously isn't that passionate or sincere about what he said, or he wouldn't have been such a puss and apologized so suddenly.

I think that has more to do with EA telling him to take back what he said. Possibly adding in an 'or else' part to it.

I'm calling bull on that one. Unless you majorly lucked out with Deviate Fish in every regard (gathering and selling), there's no way you could make that much gold with fish.

I make 1.5 gold for every 20 Oily Blackmouths I sell. If there are any on the market that are less than that, I buy them and put them up for resale like what Khaz does. But I was specifically targeting fish with this character since that's what he wants to do. It's not that hard to do. Oily Blackmouths are in huge demand.

I don't think he should be fired. He should be reprimanded, however. He works for EA, a company with a pretty distinct interest in Nintendo's systems. Having one of their developers basically take a **** all over the company and its new console is not good.
Once again, I must point out that he didn't just randomly decide to start bashing on the Wii.

The event he was speaking at called specifically for ranting. The only problem here is how rabid the Nintendo fanboys turned out to be.

No, no. That's not how the ranting segment of GDC works. You don't attack systems. Never. It's not done. They bitch about a particular programming language or server type, etc.. Technical crap. That's what it's there for. They're not supposed to get up there and wail on a particular company's machine, particularly when that machine is one that the company he works for has a strong interest in.

The dude's registered on mmosite, it's probably only reasonable to say at that level he's a professional artist, ie does it for income. Sides, you'd probly have to pay top dollar for requests.. I know I would if I was the sort to make them.

Yes. And this is why it was a joke.

That said, I boggled my own mind recently on WoW ... My lvl 12 Draenei Warrior made 26 gold in two days.

By fishing.

That blew my mind. I'd never fished much before since it's so frightfully dull, but I decided he'd be into that so ... 26 gold, lvl 12.  :D

I made approximately 480 gold in 3 days by playing the auction market with a new account and newbie character.  :P

By fishing?

I freaking wish.
So you wish they'd fire him for saying something bad about Nintendo?

They're making this live-action 'cause Hollywood wants to see how much pain they can cause me.
