PC Games / Re: Civ4 - C2C Mod

Been playing the Rise of mankind 2 mod for awhile now. I usually play on gigantic earth maps and when i reach industrialism it takes like 5 mins each turn. Once I get a computer with high processing power (I assume thats the reason for the slow turns) ill revisit ROM and maybe your mod.

4chan has a pirated version, lurk around/use browser, just in case you cant buy it. I played it, i like where this game is going. There simply isnt enough content to make this enjoyable for long though(Its understandable). However, adding building mechanics similar to haven and hearth and NPCs (Which they plan on doing immediately after they release a playable demo) would make this game an instant buy on steam for me. Who knows what else the future can bring, multiplayer?

On a completely unrelated note. I havent been to this forum in a logn while, something like 4 yrs. I go to the PC board and I see Terraria, Minecraft, Project Zomboid, Dwarf Fortress and Haven and Hearth. Good stuff.

Drop kick it, and before it can get up get on top of it and rip its talons out and use them as weapons. Badass

PC Games / Re: Securom Blues - Sims 2

Reverting back to the first patch seems to allow the game to play.  But when my wife went to back up her game all of her game files were gone!  Fortunately she upgraded her harddrive a few months ago and didn't lose everything but let this be a reminder to always back up your games before upgrading.  (she knew better but was lazy).   This apparently does happen to sims 2 game files occationally for somewhat unknown reasons.

So the good news is that the game is at least playable again on the first patch.  The bad news is my wife is still wanting some of the fixes from the second patch.  The first reply from EA was a copy of their online help.  I replied back and asked them escalate the request to someone who knew how to read the logs file and tell us what the conflict is.  We're also going to send a copy directly to securom and hope they can help.

I've heard too that the DMAC makes cracks or any bypass pretty much illegal.  Fortunately I'm in a more "moderate country" but will have to research specifically the laws here.

I've made a very concerted effort to educate myself and my friends over the last 5 years of the dangers of online downloading and the advantages buying software legitimately and am proud that I don't pirate software.  How sad will it be that potentially the only solution is a "grey market" solution to fix software I have purchased.   All together my wife has sunk probably $350 plus into sims 2 software.

Wow all that effort... You guys must REALLY love Sims...

Its not that its free, thats not the problem, its that we still have to pay for it, and its not worth what theyre charging for it, so they give it free with new Spore, which just pisses us off because we allready have spore, some of us dont even care about the extra parts individually but it would be nice to have extra parts to make our creatures with, but were not prepared to pay the price, which makes us angry because it is now free, but only with the game which we have allready payed for, only 2 months after we have bought it. So we miss out..

ya get me?

okay i was a bit hazy. Pretty much the same here, just dont want to buy it mostly for the part where it only gives abit for the same prize as spore

Wow i think im the only one of my kind, I bought the game when it came out and i still play it, the fact that we have to pay for the EP and new costumers dont AND paying the same for spore while getting a fraction of the game itself pisses me off, I WAS a fan of Maxis now im not buying this EP and might just stop playing spore until like 3 EP- pack comes out for like 40$. I just dont see how its so hard to just say screw this and just not buy anything or pay attention, thats the least we can do, just dont buy it. Im not a Maxis official guy so i have no say and im too lazy to assemble a group of people and hang a banner saying "murderer" on the home of the owner of Maxis. I understand what they are trying to do here with bringing in new customers, but this old customer is giving up.
