Spore: General / New 360 degree Flash Images
« on: April 25, 2009, 03:39:23 am »
I haven't seen anyone here mention the new 3D 360o images EA/Maxis are releasing of the Galactic Adventures, so if you haven't seen them yet, you're more than welcome to hop on over to my blog to experience them.  ;D

Spore: General / Will Wright answers German fan questions
« on: October 29, 2008, 02:09:31 pm »
Last Wednesday the German Spore fan-site conducted a video interview with Will Wright. They posted it on their site today, and it is worth viewing. WW unveils a bit of their add-on strategy and explains a few decisions in Spore's development. And don't worry, it is in English, although the questions are sometimes a little hard to follow.

Spore: General / Seen any cubed planets yet?
« on: October 20, 2008, 08:17:50 am »
Cubed planets are supposedly part of the new (second) patch. Anyone find one in their game yet?

Rock, Paper, Shotgun discusses the purpose today and it made me wonder, I personally haven't seen one yet.

If you have... post a picture!  ;D

Spore: General / Undecorated Spore objects
« on: September 23, 2008, 02:28:01 pm »
Although I have buddied people that make outstanding designs, I want some random stuff in my games too. You never know what you might find.  :)

One thing that really bugs me is about that is the following fact. About a quarter of the random stuff is not painted at all! I manually delete everything that is not painted, even though some of it is structurally interesting and I can see that it was made with some care. It's a shame really, maybe the game should warn players when they try to save it that the object isn't painted.

I have considered painting some of them myself, but then the game will save them as my own, which I don't think is fair.

I could start commenting on them, but that will not solve the problem in any meaningful way because of the sheer amount of content that's being created.  :-\

Spore: General / Can Spore timelines be shared?
« on: August 02, 2008, 11:16:51 am »
In the last couple of demo's we could take a good look at the Spore timeline feature. I am thrilled that it is in the game but it would also be cool to share it with other players. It is too big to capture in a single screenshot, so it would have to be a feature of the game, or maybe a separate "Timeline Viewer". Does anyone know if that is possible?

Spore: General / 1UP will interview someone from Maxis today.
« on: July 07, 2008, 01:53:38 am »
In its forums, 1UP is collecting questions to ask their guest in the 1UP FM show today. Since the main focus is player created content, I would not be surprised if it was MaxisLucky, aka Caryl Shaw who they'll be talking to. deadline for the questions is 1:00 pm Pacific time (= 20:00h GMT).

Spore: General / Read about my talk with Chaim Gingold
« on: July 03, 2008, 03:04:30 pm »
As you might know there was a Gaming Conference in my home town a few weeks back, and Chaim Gingold, the designer of the Spore editors, was in town to give the keynote speech. We met and I have written a lengthy report about it in my blog today. I hope you like it. :)

Spore: General / Spore micropayments clarified
« on: March 31, 2008, 06:53:30 am »
Gamasutra has a piece on Spore today in which is stated that one can buy extra parts for the creature editor through micro-payments. It doesn't say whether this is only the case in the free Spore Creature Creator or will also be feature of the full game...

Spore: General / SimAnimals?!
« on: February 01, 2008, 11:36:58 am »
The EA webcast yesterday also mentioned a game called SimAnimal. I did a quick web search but I only found very old links that are likely not connected to this.

What do you guys think such a game would be about?
